With the recent closing of Benny's, Tessier's has become my "go to" place for the random items that I occasionally need in my life, like lightbulbs, eye hooks, and birdseed. The building is PACKED with all types of things in every nook and cranny and from floor to ceiling. Literally, floor to ceiling is stocked with parts, hardware, etc. I have found the staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful anytime I have ran in needing something. Purchased a metal hose from Tessier's, got home, connected it and there was a leak from a faulty connection. I went back to the store, literally 15 minutes after I purchased it, with the receipt and they wouldn't exchange the hose or refund my money. They said "We can't resell that.". Obviously, you couldn't sell it to begin with BUT YOU DID. Then they said "It didn't leave the store that way." They took it off a hook and handed it to us, it wasn't checked to see if it worked. 1,000,000 things in a store the size of your living room. No shit, there is more stuff packed into a tiny area than you would believe. If you don't see it, ask for it. I've come in with some pretty oddball requests and the guy disappears into the attic or basement and reappears with the thingy. My favorites- Bulk bin fasteners, cable, rope and chain by the foot, and a lot of those 'make worklife easier' gadgets like gloves and flashlights and doohickeys. Staff is usually pretty helpful. There is one fat grumpy ass that you should avoid. Sometimes you get a bit of the 'playing dumb' act. "You want a what? Huh?" Everyone else is pretty cool. Thank God, all the gods, that Tessiers is still going strong. Especially in Pawtucket where there is not a single place that you can even buy a garden hose without driving to a big box store in a different town or state. I'm always surprised at how competitive their prices are and in some cases better pricing then the big box. The best part about that store is everyone who works there. And everything you need is there, even off-season. They still run things like stores used to where the customer still matters and they stock what you need and in the rear case that it is not on the Shelf they will order it for you. It's the last of its kind I believe. And that's a damn shame so I really hope they stay in business for many many years to come. Staff says they don't need to advertise to stay in business... It takes 100 years to build up the knowledge embodied in this shop: What is the the best stuff to keep on hand and what do people need to know about it. This is a longer drive from my house than several big box stores, but worth it. I get back to my project in half the time. I love this place! Always great 1 on1 service from knowledgeable people. They have never let me down. Prices are very reasonable if not better than the big chain stores. Only one downside but it won't stop me from going to them... the aisles are very small. But to fit a little bit of everything you have to make room somehow right? I agree with everyone's review in regards to this being a great local business that has been around a long time. They have everything that you may need, and it is much better to shop at than the "big box" store. BUT... there is one particular worker there, whom I believe is one of the son's. He is the WORST possible person to be working as a customer service person. He will ignore you, and not look up at you to help. Is VERY rude and condescending. Especially to woman and older people. My wife said he made her feel like a "stupid jerk" for asking questions and dropping off something to be repaired. I took it upon myself to ask other customers who have been there, and heard the same exact thing about this person. I only shop there because the mother and father are great people and very helpful, along with the other people except this person. My suggestion would be for this person to stick to the back room and never help out customers. He will be the downfall of this great establishment. I give this store, the selection, and the owners 5 stars. Wish I could leave zero stars for this person though. read more
