Came here for dinner on our last night in Paris. We ordered the steak frites, fish and chips, chicken and bass. The chicken was the best out of the meals. The food was just okay. The steak frites lacked flavor and seasoning. The staff was nice and attentive. We sat inside because of rain but they also have lots of outdoor seating. Overall, it was an average dining experience. We left Basilica Sacré-Couer and moved downhill away from the crowds. On a rainy afternoon, we were pleased to find a lovely local bistro in Montmartre that was open and welcoming. We sat on the outdoor patio with a view of steep stairs in either direction. The grand crème was perfect to warm us up from the early summer rain, and the mixed meat and cheese board was an elegant array of cheeses and meats with a small salad in the middle. (I'm going to try to make a Dijon vinaigrette at home.) The crepes sounded delicious, but we were full and hiked back up to Sacré-Couer to see the touristy sights. read more

Au Relais is a neighborhood brasserie that does not pretend to be anything more than it is. The food is good but never brilliant. It is reliable place for a good meal. I will give a big nod for top service. In a city where good service is not abundant, here, there was always one server standing outside in addition to the order-taker and busser. Diners were free to drink and visit with each other without running out of wine or water - a welcome relief since it was so hot. Local spot for a very good meal. Service was spotty but acceptable. They were out of several dishes but what we had was pretty good. A very safe bet for a beer and a relaxing meal outside in the courtyard. I had a delicious salmon, my wife greatly enjoyed her lamb and the kids had a good meal as well. I would've totally given this place 4 stars if we didn't get the tourist special. We ordered bone marrow. Three large pieces and so much marrow. A real deal at €7. We also tried the steak tartare. It was quite tasty and seasoned well. I enjoyed it. The fries were a bit odd in shape and flavour. The salad was pretty soggy. The tourist special? Bottled flat water for €5. How come every other table received "normal" water and we were automatically given the one that gets charged? Not impressed. The prices are quite reasonable here given the portions. Charming eatery in the 18th and nicely off the beaten path - which makes it a nice place to eat and talk on the sidewalk. I got the Chicken in a mushroom cream sauce with linguini which was great. Others at the table got nice dishes as well. The server did their best to accommodate a teenager's special order which was pleasantly surprising based on what I'd heard about French service. Very comfortable and friendly restaurant in the Montmartre neighborhood, fairly easy downhill walking distance from Sacre-Couer Basilica. There is sidewalk seating as well as indoor seating. We sat inside to avoid the cigarette smoke which has kept us from enjoying any sidewalk cafes in Paris. My husband ordered the burger with frites. It was very good quality meat, cooked perfectly, pink in the middle. The frites were yummy, in a sort of concave shape so they were almost like a combination of a french fry and a homemade potato chip. I had the yakitori salmon. It was delish. Two nice size pices of salmon steak, no sauce on it, just lightly salted. It came with some sort of white mashed veggie which looked like potato but I think it was either turnip or parsnip. There was some other sauce on the plate. Since I don't speak French, I just ate it and didn't ask questions. We enjoyed the meal very much and we were glad to discover this neighborhood of Paris, which takes a bit of effort to get to. After dinner, there is a taxi stand only a block away if you don't want to make the schlep to the metro station. read more

My group of five came here yesterday to find the most rude, unpleasant, and inflexible service I have ever encountered. Those who ate had undercooked meat, excess amounts of cream, and generally low quality food. The server/ host/ mouthpiece for the owner straight up didn't care about our business. We were a group of five with more then half being parisian natives. One person had some allergies and was trying to ask about ingredients. The server rudely brushed off all the questions about what was in the food. So we asked him if they could bring food from somewhere else while the other four ate at the restaurant. The server wouldn't accept that person eating food from another place despite the fact that he wouldn't answer any questions about the food. He proceeded to take away that persons silver ware and water glass so that they were not welcome to eat nor drink tap water while the others ate dinner and spent over 100$ at this establishment. I get this is paris, but come on. read more

Good Montmartre-style restaurant offering French traditional cuisine. We had dinner there with friends. We got good food quality and very good service for a very a reasonable price. They had a good wine selection. My suggestions are Veaux with sauce forestière and pasta/ and moelleux au chocolat for dessert! read more

THIS PLACE IS A TRAP!!! Just when you think you have gotten far enough away from the touristy area to get some quality food. You stumble upon this beautiful looking restaurant with its bright red awning and happy waiters and think "looks great, lets go". This is a HUGE mistake. The food was tasteless and overpriced. Since the lauded Soul Kitchen across the street seems constantly too busy to yield any seats, this cute neighbourhood bistro is fine as an alternative. Would have liked to see what their inexpensive lunch special was on the weekdays but since it was Saturday, we opted for Croque Madames from the snack menu. They were sadly missing in bechamel sauce, so did taste lacking, but the fries were very good, my chardonnay was cheap, and the service was friendly and perfect. We finally learned our lesson to sit inside to avoid smoke from the outside tables. read more

This was a really nice little French bar/restaurant that made a great capstone to our Paris trip. Their canard was fantastic, and there was good fare for the kiddos. We sat underneath a bookshelf filled with interesting books in both French and English, which made for fun activity and conversation during our meal. Definitely recommended. read more

Excellent food and service at a reasonable price just a bit off the main tourist path in Montmartre. We had the bone marrow entree and confit plat along with some well priced rose from Aix, all were delicious. We were looking for a recommended cafe called Soul Kitchen that was located right across the street from this. It was very full and looked to have along wait ( also looked like just soups, quiches and pastries were being offered) so we ventured across the street to this brassiere. It was warm and welcoming on this rainy afternoon! I ordered the hamburger platter ( after a few days of duck confit and rich sauces this gal was ready for a burger!) and boy was I surprised! It was huge! It was just delicious as well. Cooked to perfection. The fries were cut almost like a long V which made them extra crispy and good. My dining companion ordered the prawn risotto and said it was prepared very well. ( which is sometimes hard for risotto). We did not order dessert but had a nice bottle of wine and good coffee afterward. The rain stopped and we continued on our way. As we crossed the street to go back up the Montmartre hill, we looked in the windows of soul kitchen and noticed everyone eating salad and light meals sitting in a seafoam green room. Looked nice nice place for a summer or spring brunch. But we were super happy to have crossed the street to the warm and comfortable restaurant across the street.
