Bought a bike the first round it needed to back in the shop. It stayed in the shop, because they were to busy selling new bikes instead of supporting the one I just bought. Instead of troubleshooting the issue and go through the warranty with Kona to address it they rather just refund the money. If you want post sales support don't go to ATX bikes. They are very friendly and prior to having the issue with the hydraulic brake breaking, and the disk rotors dragging the calipers I was happy with them, but once the bike was in the shop, they did not perform as would be expected. First, they changed out the brake handle to a different model, so the bike now had two different brake levers, this is on a bike that that I just, bought. The repair took longer than they first said, so it sat in their shop for a number of days before I saw it, when I saw that it had two different model brake levers I told them that I would expect to get the same model brake levers on both sides, so then they ordered a new brake handle. I had also it'd them that the break rotor was dragging and touching the calipers. The bike was in there for another week, and when I came back to pick it up, the rotors were still dragging. They changed out the rotors, but it was still dragging, it seemed like I had to be there for the to actually troubleshoot the issue, I got frustrated with them and they gave me a full refund, which is good. The price was good for the bike, so if you get a bike there maybe you can take it to a better store like Ozone for repairs. For me I prefer to deal with shops who not only can sell bikes, but support them, and get repairs done right and on time. read more

Took mountain bike for a rear Fox shock repair. Post repair it was performing incorrectly in a different way. I had suspicions and mentioned the initial repair made it worse. Brett and George made it right by sending the shock back to Fox for repair. A $100+ repair which they covered the cost, except for labor. I call that great service! Standing behind their work! ~applause!, thank you guys! read more

Frank is the new man running the operation and he is excellent. He and the shop have worked on 5 of my family's bikes and I always received knowledgeable service and a good deal, too. Like all bike shops it seems nowadays, there can be a little backup on full tune-ups, but 80% of the time they take the time to do adjustments for me while I wait or get it back to me same day if I can drop it off in the morning. We have purchased two bikes through ATX and Frank's ability to do professional fitting right in the store with his GURU was very nice icing. He is a great guy, an asset to the store and I hope he keeps running it for a long time. read more

the two stars are just for the repair work, talk about young and very unprofessional employees. I got charged 94.00 for a tune up, used my own cables. and still payed out the wazoo... just cause you guys are located in circle c area, doesn't mean we need to pay outrageous prices... it was convenient, shame on me for going, shame on whoever goes after reading this, DON'T RECOMEND ATX BIKES... read more

I have lived near and ridden bikes around Circle C for fifteen years but never stepped foot in ATX bikes until last Friday when a derailleur cable broke. The new owner as of Sept16, Frank Prior, greeted me as I walked in the door and asked if he could help. Told him my problem and he grabbed a couple cables. $10 and said they were pretty backed up but could probably get to it the next day if I needed any help with the installation. I was glad to hear they were that busy because it's great to have a shop right here in the neighborhood that is equal parts road, mountain and casual bikes. I also mentioned my bike was turning ten years old this month and that I might be interested in a new bike soon. Frank asked if he could show me something...and we walked back into the fitting area. High tech software and a GURU fitting machine all designed to breakdown bike fit based on your goals and riding style. Frank invited me back the next week before regular operating hours and offered to evaluate my riding position on current bike. Over a few hours from 8-10a, Frank broke down issues in my current bike and how I am positioned on it. I have long legs and we discovered my foot and knee angle were not optimal, in addition to hip bend and many others. We then took a look at newer road bike options based on my style of riding and goals. Frank went through changes in frames / components and many others since my last bike purchase. We found a few options and he plugged in the geometry into the Guru system...minutes later I was riding a setup identical to the bike he recommended so we could evaluate the riding posture. My new Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 will be here next week. Frank and ATX Bikes didn't sell or persuade me into a new bike...they earned my business and support. It's great to have a genuine, kind-hearted small business owner right here in Circle C. Highly recommend for any cycling needs. 11/23/16 update - my new bike came in on Monday afternoon and I picked it up Tuesday evening after hours. Frank took the time to walk me through everything I needed to know and make sure I was ready for my first ride. Took it out this morning and WOW was I surprised. I was actually expecting to be a little disappointed as I really like my old bike I've been riding for ten years. New one blew me away at how smooth and stiff it is. Can't wait to ride it more! read more

Great owner and good shop. Walked in with my list and forgot my wallet. Owner had seen me before a few times and let me walk out with product before paying.......how cool is that! read more

ATX Bikes is my new favorite bike shop! Brett is so friendly, and when they didn't have the bike I wanted in my size, he found one and put it together for me. Unlike most shops in Austin, they will explain everything you need to know and won't talk down to you. If you're looking for a friendly, locally-owned shop, ATX is a great place to start. read more

These kind folks helped me repair my Knee Scooter! My brake was broken. The quickly fixed my scooter and charged me a modest charge for the part and labor. I appreciate their professionalism and customer service! Of course I will consider getting a bike from them too! read more

I was very pleased with both the service and the final price I received at ATX Bikes. I took my boy's bikes there and was expecting an estimate of around $100+ for both. Brett gave me an estimate of around $60, but then came in at $48! He also told me to anticipate about a 5 day turn around but then called me the next day to say they were ready. Both bikes work wonderfully now. I recommend ATX Bikes. read more

These guys really aim to please! Had gears changed out in 24 hrs... bonus: honest advice is always welcome in my book! Thank you so much for making it possible for me to ride this past Saturday! We had a blast and you guys are our new "all-in-one" bike shop! read more

These guys are great with bikes. They really do a good job. I got my bike back... the guy started talking about all this extra stuff he fixed... I'm dreading how much he's going to charge me, getting ready to get all worked up that he didn't call before doing the work... and then he hands me a bill for less than he originally quoted me. Not a very common situation in the world today... really appreciate how they do more than they have to. read more

These guys are great. I brought in a cheapo kids bike, and an ancient trail bike to fix up. While these bikes are junkers, the folks at ATX treated them great, new tires, brakes and roadworthy for $60 each. When my kids are old enough to spend bigger bucks on a 'real' bike, we are going to spend it at ATX. read more

This is exactly what you would expect from a neighborhood bike shop- friendly people who know what they are talking about. My first trip in I was greeted and helped out right off the bat, I got to test ride a few bikes and felt really comfortable asking questions and not being put down. (unlike other bike snob shops I had been too.) I'm really looking forward to the re-opening in the new location across Mopac and can't wait for my first shop ride with them. If you're in South Austin this is the plce to go. read more

Just bought a bike there. During the shopping an purchase process they were laid back, provided opinions without being pushy and helped explain the different tradeoffs. Even more important, after the purchase the service has been great. As I think is typical with a new bike, things stretch as you start riding harder and they have been patient with providing explanations of what is going on and keeping things in tune. They typically stop what they are doing to fix things in real time. I had once adjusted my rear shock (not knowing that this was not possible without a pump) - he let me take a pump with me and come back to pay as I had come straight off a ride and did not have a wallet. I have been pleased with store, sales and service. Derek read more

Great bike shop. They answered all my questions and have an amazing selection. Outstanding customer service.

This is my first yelp review but I had to make one for ATX Bikes. Went in for a repair of my dusty old single speed that had been sitting for a while. Excellent and quick service and I swear the bike looks better than it ever has. Repairs were quick and prices were extremely fair. Can't thank these guys enough. I will for sure be back for any and all bike related business. read more

They have awesome customer service. We just moved to the area, the price to assemble and service our bikes after shipping is very reasonable. I needed to purchase a new bike rack, they assembled and installed it for me. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I'm sorry to say, I don't trust these guys with repairs or even tune-ups. Drive downtown to a shop that has more traffic and whose employees thereby have more experience. I wish these guys were up to the job. I brought in a Cannondale mountain bike -- a brand they sell -- to put on a new tire and check out the brake. The shifting worked impeccably before I dropped the bike off. I decided I might as well have them to a full tune up. Well? When I picked the bike up, the shifting was a disaster. The chain jumped back and forth between rear chainrings. So I asked them to re-adjust it. And then the chain wouldn't shift in the front from the small ring to the large ring properly because it either would fall back down or because it would go too far and lock up. So I asked them to re-adjust it... and they kind of did. But I had given up hope, and it was the end of the day, so I didn't ask them to give it a fourth try. At this point, they had failed three times to get the shifting back to work as it had before I gave them the bike! In the process of their encore attempts, they said I needed to buy a new derailleur hanger and new cables (which I didn't). And they said they couldn't adjust it any more with the limit screw. But after I inspected it at home, I realized the limit screw had stripped -- which happens when the derailleur is adjusted without downshifting to remove the tension on the device. Was it stripped by their clumsy attempts? I can't know for sure. But with the other details from this experience? I hope to never go back. The only answer is Austin Tricyclist, including for mountain bikes. I'm sorry for this review, ATX! read more

Great experience, Frank and Reese took excellent care of me. Great customer service! Brought my bike in for a tune up and new brake pads and rotors. Price was fair and bike rides like brand new. read more

I love the location and the people who work there are great. But so are most employees at bike shops. The selection of bikes suck. They only have the cheap upper class bikes. I bought a tube for my bike. It was the lowest quality of tube I have ever seen. It didnt have a nut to secure the stem and the tube was twisted up. I thought for 5 bucks it should be quality. Come on guys quality over making money and you get loyal guests. read more

This is a great shop with an obvious commitment to customer satisfaction. I brought a bike in for a tune up (I just purchased it used on CL) and they had it done before I even expected it to be done. Everything about the service and experience was top notch from my experience. read more

Perhaps just a Bike shop, but IMO not a bike part shop. I visited on a Saturday afternoon, and after about 5 lonely laps in the merchandise section, I decided to interrupt the seemingly-more-important conversation happening between employee-only area and the Cobra Kai Haro crew hanging around the back door. To their credit, they told me of some place in Westlake that could order a handlebar stem. So later, I just went to my normal favorite bike place @ 51st and Duval (a longer drive but worth it)...they gave me a used stem for free. read more

This review is not based on a one time visit. It is based on a true experience from start to finish. In 2015 I picked up mountain biking and became a true fan of this awesome sport! I was riding a 400.00 hard tail when I started and rode it till the beginning of 2017. It was time for a upgrade! Ugghh...hard to shop for something you do not know much about. All I knew is that I want a real bike that I could keep for 5 to 10 years. I was willing to go to the top to get carbon material and dual suspension. This made my search even more intimidating since I was gonna be spending some real money on my next bike. I started my research online but quickly decided that I needed a real person to feel like I was being guided towards the right decision. This is when I met the very friendly, intelligent, laid back employees of ATX Bikes. Frank, Brandon, Reece, and Tim are the guys! From beginning to end I always felt like I was working with a guide and NOT a salesperson. I never felt uncomfortable and felt like every question I had was answered with truth and honesty. On top of that, once I found the bike that I wanted, I received a better deal through ATX Bikes that what I would have online!! Surprising I know!! Anyway, I could not have asked for a better way to purchase my new bike. I feel like it was meant to go down the way it did and I am one happy guy! Today, my bike is living the dream with me! Rides like a comfortable beast and could not have been happier with the choice I made. If your looking for a way to buy your next bike, I would strongly recommend you take the same path I did. Create a family to help you along the way. That's what I did! Thanks for everything Frank, Brandon, Reece, and Tim! You guys rock! Sincerely, Clifton Beal read more

okay; great visit first trip (with kid's bike), so why not get a couple minor tweaks done on mine. another great, and reasonable experience. installed grips with price at half that on list price, and i can tell a lot of attention paid to whole bike even though I agreed to have only derailleur tuned and grips installed. net charge $22, but looks like bike which would be at least $40 at next shop... and, again, guys look like they are enjoying their work. thanks. read more

Atx bikes is awesome! So helpful and friendly. They make sure we are trail ready and give us awesome tips every time we come in.

So being that this shop is in my neighborhood I figured I'd try to support it...I have been really happy and would go here if it was crosstown. These guys know their stuff and I have bought 2 bikes from them and looking forward to buying more. I also have gone there for my maintenance and upgrades. These guys are pretty dang cool. I understand a lot of the gripes that have been posted, but a lot of them just sound like PITA id10ts that walk into a shop of guys that just love bikes/biking. get your expectations right folks. This isnt a national chain that you can send your complaints to corporate when the guys don't wait on your dumb-ass hand and foot, just to have you bitch about the price of the bikes or the lack of selection. I've never spent a dime in this store. I tried, and they wouldn't hear of it. I tried again twice more on different occasions, and same result. I have now been there three times to have my kids' (target bought) bikes repaired/adjusted, and these cats haven't been anything but kind, courteous, and cool. Out of loyalty/appreciation, i'll have no choice but to run to these guys when it's time for a serious bike or three. BTW, they informed me that they're moving into the new Alamo Draft House complex when it's ready. read more

My wife just bought a new Kona bike with Bret's help (owner) and he was wiling to work with us on the price and getting it to fit properly. The people were friendly, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Ramsey, worked on my 9 yr old Cannondale and had it running as smooth as when I bought it. After receiving pitiful service at a larger bike shop in Austin, I started shopping at ATX. It's also where I purchased my latest bike. Attentive helpful staff spent a lot of time with me, didn't try to upsell me or get me to buy things I don't need. Great service. read more

If you don't have a $1000 dollars to spend and don't look like it I would suggest another bike shop. They only seem to carry about 5 brands of new bikes and the space and selection is very limited. This was the was the first time I had been in the shop after three attempts to visit , first the store was closed on the day I showed up although it was not mentioned on their website and the second time they did not open on time. I would suggest that you look at the many other Austin bike shops to find a larger selection of bicycles that are capable of meeting the needs of persons or families with a range of incomes. read more
