Keeping my "blinders" on, my mission is to get a few of those famous crispy bakes for my daughter's 26 birthday instead of buying a whole cake. My attendant, Eimau, (hope I spelled correcty, if not, my apologies) was so pleasant and his patience servicing me has me leaving with not only a few bakes, but cake pops, cupcakes and macaroons!! You have to try this nice place, so good. Thank you all for your service.

That said, I don't believe in writing a place off after a single average experience, so I decided to give it a second chance. This time, I ordered two different viral crunches along with a croissant. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing across the board. The Mixed Berry Crunchy was cute in presentation, but that was its only redeeming quality. There was no bold--or even subtle--mixed berry flavor. At $10, it felt wildly overpriced and not worth the calories. Next was the Lemon Crunchy, which is supposed to feature a lemon blueberry flavor. As someone who loves lemon, I had high expectations, but once again it was bland and forgettable. Since this is a bakery, I also tried a fresh croissant and asked for it to be warmed. The staff accommodated the request, and it smelled incredible. It was warm, light, and flaky--but sadly, the flavor fell flat. A light brushing of butter on top would have gone a long way. For me, this is strike two. Unfortunately, Lilla Vanilla just isn't worth the money or the calories. Based on my experience--mediocre service on the first visit, bland and overpriced featured items on the second, and only neutral-to-slightly-positive notes on the croissant--I'd rate it 2 out of 5 . I seriously contemplated giving them 1 star but to be fair, the viral crunchy presentation was appealing and the croissant did have good texture (even if the flavor missed).

Just going to stop by since I was in the area. The bakery is in this shopping center and the parking lot was pretty full when I arrived Sunday afternoon. I agree with the reviewers that this place is small. I felt that I wanted to take my time looking at items but the space felt crowded while looking. Overall they had many options to choose some but there were some empty looking shelves in the far back. I managed to get a few items to try and a slice of cake. There are kiosks to also order drinks. The line was long but moved quickly. The items I tried: Cheesy hot dog: pretty good! very sweet bread with a tiny hot dog. White Chocolate strawberry: delicious strawberry filling. The bun was soft and not overly sweet. Berry bun: I got the very last one! DELISH! The bun of milky, soft and berry filled. My favorite probably. Taro bun: HUGE! Love the taro paste but the bread was alittle off since there was seeds in it. Not loving that texture Tiramisu cheesecake: very good fluffy cheesecake. Would have liked more tiramisu/coffee flavor. Chocolate bun: Another favorite. Very good chocolate fudge on the inside. Wish I bought 10 of theses. Egg tarts: I got the two pack. Wish I got the full box (maybe next time). Flaky buttery crust with sweet egg custard. Also a favorite. Overall everything I got was really good. I also loved that the prices were very affordable ($2-5). The only thing I would add is maybe to have more a description and allergens added to the cards so people with allergies could identify what they can and cannot eat. Cant wait to come back and maybe try one of the drinks :)

It's not the place I go to when looking for a life-altering culinary experience--I go there when looking to feed my face fast and move along with my mission. I usually get one of their savory pastries or a croissant, or perhaps a pain au chocolat if the urge hits me. They all taste okay, and they get the job done. The only thing I've had there that was a definite "Never Again" was the hot dog--a desiccated disaster in every way imaginable. On the flip side, the cheese quiche has been a winner those times I had it. It didn't take me back to the Alsace, but it was better than average. I had some cake from here recently. Visually, it looked fantastic, and the interior was moist (dry cake is a crime!), and it had all kinds of chocolate on it and in it, but the flavor was just "good". My socks remained on after tasting it. It was like they left the something special out that would have taken it from good to memorable. It looked great, but the taste didn't quite live up to the visuals. I'd eat it again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it for someone's birthday. The people working there are nice, but it can be a bit slow sometimes to make it through the register during the breakfast or lunch hours, especially if there's an indecisive person in front of you who changes their mind every fifteen seconds while picking up some pastries for the office, and she's oblivious to the five people waiting in line behind her. Although it's not the sort of place that's going to me primary destination, I'll keep on going here when I'm starving and need something to get me through my trip to the Home Depot. It gets the job done.

My wife got me a birthday cake from Salswee and I ate the whole thing. Not out of obligation. Not to be nice. Because it was genuinely that good. The cake was light in a way that most cakes are not. Fluffy texture, almost delicate, nothing dense or heavy about it. Inside there were mango pieces throughout and the top was finished with sliced fresh mango and a cream frosting that did not overpower anything. Every component worked together without any one element taking over. What got me most was how I felt after eating it. You know that heavy, bloated feeling you get after a slice of traditional birthday cake? That did not happen here. I finished the whole cake and felt completely fine. That alone says something about what they are working with. If you are in the area and you want something that actually delivers on flavor without wrecking you afterward, Salswee is absolutely worth trying. One of the best birthday cakes I have ever had and I did not even think I liked birthday cake.

I ordered the orange, mango and mushroom suisse. There was a bit of a wait for the orders but it wasn't too bad. The cakes were secure in mini boxes and everything was packed into a nice paper tote bag for take out. The desserts were very delicate upon first glance but also easy to break apart (so things got a bit messy). The orange dessert had a more mellow and lighter flavor compared to the mango one. It had a orange mandarin jam center covered with a vanilla cream layer. I didn't really care too much for the chocolate rice crisp bottom layer. The leaves were maybe peppermint though if it was mint then that would make the whole dish edible. The mango dessert was sweeter than the orange one. The mango jam filling was sweet and had a few pieces of mango that were a bit sour but didn't take away from the overall sweet mango flavor. The cream covering the jam must've also been mango flavored. I really liked the mushroom suisse! I reheated it in the microwave for a bit before eating it. I loved the crispy exterior as it contrasted well with the softness of the puff pastry middle. The mushroom filling was also tasty as it reminded me a bit of cream of mushroom soup. I'll be giving their other savory pastries a try during my next visit. FYI, if posting on socials for the complimentary pastry, do so before ordering.
