A weekday visit turned out to be an excellent tactical decision - no crowds, swift service, and…read morezero chaos. The chaos, however, was entirely self-inflicted: eight opinionated adults staring at a menu where everything looked good is a recipe for collective disaster. Our server, bless him, stepped in like a professional mediator and steered us toward some solid choices. The food arrived hot and largely delivered on its promise. Largely. The Poori Aloo, while perfectly edible, lacked a certain - as our Punjabi taste buds put it, rather bluntly: the oomph. The Amritsari Kulcha, meanwhile, seems to have had a bit of an identity crisis - it showed up tasting like an Aloo Parantha. For anyone who's had the real deal in Amritsar, this one may prompt a moment of reflection. Everything else, however, was genuinely enjoyable and the menu is a vegetarian's dream come true. Minor culinary debates aside, it's absolutely worth a visit.

The server suggested the specials for the day and we ordered two of them - Tandoori Soya Chaap (appetizer) & Paneer Angara (curry). Tandoori Soya Chaap was 10/10. Main course: Paneer Angara - no where close to the actual dish. It was more like Paneer Kadhai. Methi Malai Paneer, I would rate a 6.5/10. Naans were good. Dal Tadka (not in picture) was good as well but missed tadka. Overall, we were kinda satisfied. Would definitely be coming back for Tandoori Soya Chaap. Huge parking lot, quick service!

Sometimes a meal feels like a decision made in a grocery store aisle with half an eye on the clock…read moreand the other on the bottom line. That is the vibe of my delivery of Eggmania's Surti Khemo (their egg curry). I asked for it with chapati instead of the default white bread because I like to think ahead about my carbohydrates. By the time it arrived at my house the curry had already undergone a curious separation event. A slick, shining pool of oil settled on top like it was waiting for the Coast Guard to respond, which was odd since I paid extra to have it made with butter rather than oil. Once stirred, its tomato-spiced and boiled egg flavors did shine through. It was not bad at all. But the portion was modest for the price and that oil slick made it feel smaller than it was. The chapati behaved like a polite bit of bread and nothing more. I can't say this first experience wowed me. The menu itself feels full of promise and variety, so if I find myself in the area again I might very well stop by and try something else from it, but this first exposure left me somewhat underwhelmed and thinking of other plans for dinner.

Service was bad before and has t gotten any better. The young girl that came to serve us spoke no English and was bad and Hindi. I speak both and she couldn't talk our order. Another waiter rushed over to help. While the parathas were fresh, everything else was microwaved to heat. This does kill the taste of the food in the platters. Table water is not free. They charge you and provide bottled water. They charge a 12% service charge. And 3% charge to pay by credit card. Sadly, while the paratha are excellent, it is not worth the added cost. You can easily go to another restaurant for food with less issues.

As other reviewers have shared, the decor over the years has improved slightly, but I can't say this would be the play to go for ambiance. And in the setting of the many Indian restaurants in NJ, if you are looking for vibes, dining here would not provide that. As for the food, Khasiyat is known for their parathas and they are always good but definitely challenging to have for takeout. I am actually a bigger fan of their khasta kachori which comes in a generous portion and can be taken to-go with the components separated. Unfortunately, the challenge here is related to service. There have been many times that I have called in ahead of time to place an order for pickup and despite arriving at their recommended time, the food is not ready and I have waited up to an additional 15-20 minutes. If you're there during off-peak hours, that may help though this inconsistency has made it challenging for me to want to continue to go back.

There are 2 very good South Asian restaurants in Monroe Township/Jamesburg. Both have excellent…read morefood and locations. This one has an edge with its Palak Chat which is outstanding and it used to be goat curry but no longer as Thumkaa has a great goat curry. And of course a full Bar. So when we want Palak Chat only we visit. Thumkaa however has better service. Their employees have a superb benefit living package and stay longer. Mrs. Kumar used to have great service but many of its staff have left. So you have 3-4 I assume management standing around and even with a bar when you order anything it takes 5+ minutes and re-ordering to be served. Thumkaa management makes a point to come around, especially Sunil. We have met Mrs. Kumar a few times but there is no recognition to guests that come frequently as with Sunil at Thumkaa. Chefs are both good but Ifran at Thumkaa visits with folks. The kheer which was great has changed into something terrible. No rice . No live music and buffet (fine dining). A in food and B in service. B+ atmosphere.

We thought that this was very flavorful. Mrs. Kumar's assorted bread basket- this was delicious. Hubs loved the variety. Chicken 65 Biryani (boneless)- I loved the egg that came with it. It's definitely one of the better one that we've had. The biryani didn't taste like it was premade. Everything was melded together really nice. Goan fish curry- we ordered this medium. We were expecting the to be a little bit spicier. The medium sauce was just right and delicious. Fish pakora- this was pretty good as well, but our least favorite. It looked more like fish nuggets. There's a fee of 2.99% if you used credit card. We wished the menu was more descriptive. We had to google it. The place is very allergy friendly. Our server wrote on our order to not put peanuts in anything. Service was friendly and quick. Will return when in the area to try other items on the menu!
