Like most homeowners, we didn't realize we needed insulation until the temperature hit the single digits. Our furnace was constantly active trying to reach 69 degrees F which it never did. Atticare was the third place we called, as two other contractors failed to give us any written quotes. The Atticare call center set a date and two-hour time window that their field technician could inspect our home. Nick D. was our field technician, and he called 30 minutes before he was scheduled to arrive, and he arrived in the early part of the time window. He arrived wearing an Atticare-branded shirt, ID card, shoe covers, and a white full body contractor suit. His business cards had the NJ Home Contractor license number. All in all, he was dressed to be a professional, and at the same time, prepared to get dirty to inspect our house. Our home has an attic that was partially converted into rooms. The rooms were built in the center of the attic space, so the edge areas were not converted and sectioned off. At first, Nick thought Atticare could not help us, as you want to put insulation in the middle area of the attic, and since this middle area was converted into rooms, there appeared to be no area to put insulation. He told us that it would not be cost effective to put insulation on the edges or within the walls, as that would not keep the heat in. He recommended that we replace the old windows, as well as routing the heating system through more of the attic rooms. Nick said that there was a bare area towards one corner of the attic that Atticare could fill in with insulation, but that would be the most the company could do. Even though I inquired more about adding insulation in various other places, Nick replied back that those areas would not bring much energy savings, and Atticare would not push their services or product just to make a quick buck. It is a rare thing to find a contractor with integrity. Luckily, Nick D identified a hole in the ceiling in the edge area, which was outside of the room walls. I brought him a ladder, and he stuck his head up into the hole. He didn't even have a face mask; he just poked his head up there. Brave man, but I'm sure he had done this many times before. Nick D. discovered that there was remaining space above the ceilings of the converted rooms. Since this space was in the center of the attic, Atticare was able to add insulation here! He took some measurements and used his phone to take pictures of the areas where insulation could be added. He explained that a hole needed to be cut in the ceiling in one of the rooms, so the crew can access the sealing to get the insulation added. He was able to generate an electronic written quote on the spot. The cost was reasonable and within our budget. We agreed to the work, and he took a 10% down payment via credit card, and we received an email of the invoice. He called the foreman to schedule the crew, and Atticare was able to send the crew the next morning in this instance. The next day, Victor and his crew came to do the work. The crew placed drop cloth on the floor along the path from the door to the attic, so they wouldn't get the house messy. They had an industrial insulation blow-in machine outside and routed the hose through an attic window. The crew cut a hole in a room ceiling to bring the hose up. The job took a little over two hours. Victor took photos of the finished work. The work they did looked a lot like the photos on their website. Atticare must have done enough of this type of work to have this down to a science. We paid the balance and received the "before" and "after" photos. We felt a noticeable change after the insulation was added. The furnace didn't have to work so hard, and the house was warmer. We are happy with the work and can recommend Atticare! read more

I recently encountered a rodent issue for which I initially called Terminex. Needless to say Terminex was useless in that they only laid traps in my crawl space and attic. The technician who came out admittedly agreed that he was "too big" to fit in the crawl space. One hour after he left, I could hear the "creature" still roaming around over my head. As I was new to the neighborhood - having just purchased my home - I went through a book of local vendors that I had received in the mail and found Atticare. Sean came to my house with a colleague first to provide an estimate. They both went into the small crawlspace that the Terminex guy could not fit into. They were on time, professional, knowledgeable and eased my anxiety regarding the rodents that had been living in my crawlspace and attic even if briefly. My anxiety resumed when I heard the cost, but Sean had a soothing way about him and offered some discounts which helped. While I still had a pit in my stomach over the price after having just made my home purchase, I agreed to allow Atticare do the work. Sean made me feel comfortable that Atticare would take good care of me. Three days later I had an appointment. Victor and his crew showed up on time having called 30 minutes before arrival. They covered my furniture and the floors before beginning the job which took all day and entailed removal of insulation destroyed by multiple rodents in both the attic and crawlspace, repairing HVAC piping, sanitizing the attic and crawlspace, and installing new insulation. They also closed up all entry points around the home for squirrels, raccoons & chipmunks (all of which had inhabited the crawlspace and attic at some point). Victor's crew consisted of five guys who were very professional, courteous, knowledgeable and kept me advised of their status every step of the way with pictures and conversation. They did a great job cleaning up afterwards. Although because I have OCD, I would suggest Atticare get Victor and his crew a better small vacuum cleaner for cleaning up minor debris after the job is complete and advise the guys to wipe down the client's floors and bannisters afterwards with cloths. . . I had to do some minor vacuuming and wiping down of my wood floors and furniture which had a light coat of dirt/dust after they left. That being said, they did great work from what I could see in the pictures they took for me (I will never enter my crawlspace nor go in the attic) and personally observed on the exterior of the home. While I may have paid a pretty penny for the work that was done, I believe it was truly worth it as I now have peace of mind of knowing that rodents are not in my crawl space or attic overhead and that these areas are completely cleaned out and properly insulated. Hi - My experience with Atticare Home Upgrades has been exceptional. From the onset of my interaction with the company they have been nothing but true professionals. The sales consultant Robert Pisillo who came to my house, started off the experience with the right tone. He arrived exactly when he said he would. He came in prepared to look at my attic, with his equipment in tow. He did a full investigation of what the condition of my attic was; taking video and pictures to document exactly what he was referencing. When the assessment of my attic was complete, he showed me some of the video and pictures and quickly explained some of the things that were out of place. He suggested I go into the attic myself so that I could get a better understanding of what we would be discussing. He stated, "he wanted an educated customer, one who feels comfortable with what they will be doing". This put me at ease as he was not just trying to make a sale but cared about what he does. This says a lot about an individual. Then I took a closer look at my attic to see what the pictures and videos were referencing, seeing does help in understanding. We then sat down to go over the process of replacing my Insulation. Robert went over every step explaining how the installation of the insulation process works, from the removal of the old insulation to remediation of the area, filling gaps and replacing the insulation. All the time answering any concerns or questions. By the time Robert finished explaining everything I felt I had a complete tutorial on the proper way insulation should be done. With this experience I decided to go with Atticare. Robert then made the process very easy; he booked the time that the crew would come to install the insulation. Robert then reconfirmed with me a day before what time the crew would be arriving. Again, acting like professionals, the crew called to tell me when they were a half hour away, showing up when scheduled for the insulation. The crew came in and were very friendly. They told us they were going to prep the house with plastic covering so that dust and dirt would not get anywhere. They cleaned out all the old insulation, I lost count of how many bags. After that they cleaned and remediated the attic, filled the gaps, and then put in the new insulation. The crew was nonstop at work the entire time they were here. When they finished the crew cleaned the entire area, that you could not even tell they were there. The attic insulation looked neat, and all the surface area was covered appropriately with no gaps. Gil came to my home to provide an estimate for an attic clean-out. He was very patient and Professional; after seeing the pictures he took of my attic and seeing the condition it was in (disgusting) I knew he was a gentleman. My attic was a total disaster!! He "held my hand" from beginning to end. I am very happy I was able to work with him. He showed respect despite all the texts and phone calls by me (He has patience as well) The technicians arrived at my home promptly they were very professional, polite and respectful. I know their job is not a glamarous one but non the less they were courteous. They removed all the waste and insulation that was destroyed by animals from my attic, they actually removed everything except the boards. they sanitized closed off all holes and points of penetration for any animals, added baffles (something my attic never had in the first place) Gil pointed that out to me; then added new insulation. There was always an oder in my home which I chalked up to being an older house. I had no idea what Racoons and squerrels did to my attic!! I know it had to be one of the worst they had ever seen but they were very professional about it. After they left my home felt like every inch of it was cleaned it actually felt lighter. I had flying squirrel infestation in attic, had received a 99$ Valpak coupon from Atticare advertising attic cleanup and pest infestation, so sought an estimate. Sean, a very professional guy assessed and came up with a 4200$ plan to essentially replace the entire attic insulation, sanitize and vacuum the place. Having taken a few exterminator estimates, I inquired about traps and rodent entry point sealing. Was told they have industrial grade vacuum cleaners that sucked up a dog from an attic (ASPCA might be interested in knowing how it wound up there) let alone squirrels & mice and once the insulation is removed, they would seal entry points from inside the attic (hard to imagine feasibility of the proposition given the lack of access). When asked about the 99$ special, was told it's simply vacuuming the attic and would not be my solution. I stall at the price, and voila, the guy gets on the phone with the office and magically comes up with a 3500$ 'deal' if I get the job done in 2 days time. I take time to review yelp reviews (and thank you google, for displaying feedback from company's home base in bay area, CA and amused to hear of the same experiences of expensive estimates & offers of dramatic discounts). Went with Protec, an Angie's List rated exterminator and got the problem resolved for 300$! In a nutshell, probably a great company if attic insulation is your issue, but not ideal for pest infestation issues. You don't need a missile where an arrow will do. read more

I could not be happier with Atticare. Atticare surpassed all expectations. I moved into my house in 2014 and after living in it for a little bit... I realize that there was a lot more work that needed to get done than first thought. I've replaced the roof and I upgraded both the downstairs and attic's HVAC (which was supposed to be high efficiency)... nevertheless, my heating and cooling bills are double all of my neighbors as per the utility company. That being said, I had some work to do in the attic and realized how absolutely disgusting everything was not to mention how old it was. So I called Atticare for a quote... and they came almost immediately and gave an estimate which was better than I expected. They set up a time which was very convenient and almost immediate. We went over all of the problems and he did not try to upsell me but I wanted everything BETTER... A lot BETTER... And that's what I got. They came on time and all of the workers were very friendly and polite. They draped off all of the rooms that would be affected so that dust and dirt would not go throughout the house. They finished the job in one day. They vacuumed out everything. No more bugs, no more nails and staples from the new roof lying around, no more rodent waste, and a clean new look... Atticare was great, I highly recommend you use them, and ask for Jorge in particular. Jorge went out of his way to follow up with me, insulating my basement sills with foam board and expanding foam. Now my basement and attic are in great shape and my wife and I are at ease knowing that animals can't get in, and that our house is clean from top to bottom. The details: My wife and I bought a house that hadn't been maintained in the last 60 or so years. When we looked up in the attic for the first time we were disgusted by how bad the attic insulation was. Besides being only rated R11, it was filled with squirrel, mouse and raccoon droppings. We called Atticare because they seemed to the best in the business for removing old dirty insulation and installing new insulation in an attic. We met with Jorge who did an inspection of the house and gave us the price for the job. Within a week he had a crew removing the old insulation, adding new fiberglass batted insulation, creating a plywood walkway and storage space in the attic, and insulating the basement sills. When we go into the attic now, its incredibly clean. You have no idea how good it is to know that there are no animals in your house, and that there are no hidden raccoon or mouse droppings. DO NOT USE Atticare! Atticare does not stand behind their service. A picture is worth a thousand words. Picture posted below. Atticare installed insulation in my attic on June 5, 2020. When I next turned on the air conditioner two weeks' later, the HVAC was not cooling the house. In fact, it was the beginning of the heat wave and it was 90 degrees in the house! Unbearable. I called Atticare and customer service told me, "not their problem." I next called an HVAC company who showed up in an hour and who identified the problem. The HVAC technician explained that 25 feet of the HVAC return had been removed and the remaining return had been tucked into itself. Part of Atticare's sales pitch is the before and after pictures of the project. There are before and after pictures clearly showing the return missing following the insulation done by Atticare. I followed up with Atticare requesting reimburse and was directed to upper management. I was speaking with Malama Togia, Director of HR and Accounting, 714-423-6447. She did not call back when she said she would on several different occasions and in our last conversation where she promised to reply to me today, I did not hear back. As it is, Atticare refused to reimburse me for the emergency they created. Atticare did not stand behind their service. DO NOT USE Atticare. I recently had my Attic cleared out, sanitized, old insulation removed, and new insulation installed, the work was done by the Atticare Team. The entire operation was done in one day (and I have a full house Attic). From the phone call to set up the initial meeting with Bob, who explained everything to me in detail, and very good understanding of the requirements I had for the Attic, and ideas on how to achieve it. He described the procedures and each step, he also explained the different types of insulation. He was never pushy or made me feel like I was being pressured. He was a pleasure to work with. The entire process from the meeting with Bob to the completion of the clearing, cleaning, insulating done by Alberto Santana and his team was seamless. Alberto was at the house when he said they would be there and their work was professional and courteous. At each step of the process Alberto showed me the progress and how it looked. He was thorough, knowledgeable and didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need. He took the time to answer every question we had and we had lots. I contacted Atticare to remove and replace old insulation in my attic. Marllon came out to give me an estimate and was very thorough in explaining the process. After getting multiple estimates I decided to go with Atticare because they were professional and I trusted their process. (Not to mention their great reviews) I was able to choose the date for the appointment that worked for me. I utilized their financing option which is run by a third party. I received 6 months of interest free payments. Jesus and his crew of 4 men came to complete the removal and installation process. Jesus determined the best place to put the vacuum would be through the bedroom window. Him and his crew moved the storage bins that were in there to the front room out of the way. They laid down plastic to protect the room. While in the attic, Jesus encountered an problem with one of the beams. This was something that was not fixed properly from the previous owners that I was not aware of. He informed me about the situation and went above and beyond by nailing the beam and ensuring that it was safe. After cleaning up you couldn't tell that they were there. Marlon was a great sales rep. Came out on a Sunday! I original called because I wanted to cleanup my attic for some storage. When Marlon came by he told me that my insulation was all destroyed by a rodent in both attics, which he assumed it was a squirrel. He explained the scope of work, which was to remove old insulation on both attics, replace both attic with R30 insulation, installed some board for extra storage in the main attic only and Rodent proofing will be completed. There is a 1 year warranty for the new insulation and rodent proofing. If anything was to get destroyed, they would come out within that one year no charge. I felt real comfortable I was SOLD two days later. I spoke to Sean General manager regarding the finance. He gave me a few options, which I wasn't to satisfied. After googling the company Aqua Finance Inc had bad reviews so I decided to pay out of pocket. Which is why I could not give the other star for a perfect rating. Julian and his crew began the home improvement work! Everything that Marlon said was completed. After the job was completed, I said this was definitely worth every penny! Our church and adjacent pastor's residence had a ridiculous bat infestation problem. Once the bats were eradicated by a pest control service, we were left with such a mess of potentially toxic guano (bat excrement) that the unhealthy smell was pungent and obvious throughout the entire structures. After receiving astronomical quotes from the two (2) largest remediation companies in the area I discovered Atticare. Bob Pisillo did a full survey of the situation (over 3500 sq ft of attic space to cover of which was mostly blown insulation) and provided a quote that seemed too good to be true. Bob's presentation of how the work would be carried out told me the services were legitimate and we decided to green-light the job. After completion and surveying the work, we were blown away by the service provided, incredibly grateful to have found Atticare and work with Bob & his crew. They were able to complete the large job in only a few days. All the foul smelling insulation (both blown in and batt-rolled) were removed and replaced with new. We hired Atticare to re-insulate our attics. We have an older split-level home and there was a 3-5-degree difference in the temperatures of the lower vs. upper levels. We interviewed three different contractors, each of whom told us different ways to solve the problem. From the first meeting with Bob at Atticare, we knew that this company was professional: Bob walked us through the entire process and gave us a very reasonable price to rip out the old insulation and install new. The team that did the work was also very professional, did exactly what was in the contract and was exceptionally clean. We were very happy with the job when it was finished. The real return was, though, what happened the day after the installation was complete: within 24 hours, the temperature difference was gone and we've even been able to begin turning down our thermostat because the upstairs is now warmer than the downstairs. We use our attic a lot. It is right off of our bedroom and easy access. We have wanted to clean it up for 12 years but didn't know where to begin. I was excited to see a coupon for Attic Care. Our attic runs the entire length of our house. My son has allergies and asthma and I knew he was breathing in a lot of dirt, dust and who knows what. Attic care arrived on time and Ron was extremely professional. He took photos of my attics corners and spots I could not see. He explained step by step how the old insulation would be taken out, new put in, recessed lights would be covered and protected and a shield put on the top to help with heat. The crew arrived on time and were all polite and professional. The job was much bigger than they thought because of the unforeseen condition of the old insulation. They had to come back another full day. They did not charge me any more or make an issue of it. I couldn't be any happier and I will recommend them to everyone. My mom had squirrels in her attic making noises and it got to the point we had to hire proffessionals. I got a coupon in the mail from Atticare so I set up the appointment. They were great A to Z. The technician Sean came on time and gave me a lot of education about what and how the service is done. I was convinced they will do the job right so we booked the job for the following week. The day of the service I took a day off and spent some time with the workers as they were removing old insulation and vacuuming debris Wow., I was impressed with the professionalism and the work ethics. Workers got in to the attic and worked there for about 7 hours non-stop, very clean and organized, Im sure they have been doing this job for a very long time. When I saw all the things that were removed from my attic I was definitely happy I hired and experienced company to do this type of work. Cleaning contaminated insulation and rodent feces is not a joke and can be dangerous. The home inspector who did my inspection left us with a ton of issues and fixes when we purchased the place several years ago and one of those was the dire condition of our attic insulation (or lack thereof in some areas). I had no idea how much he really didn't inform us about until Nick (Daus) came to do a proper inspection of our attic. Nick (Daus) was communicative with his appointment arrival and as I was running a little late, was extremely flexible in accommodating me to meet. Upon arrival, he got right to work and did his inspection well within the time that he said he would be done in. Afterwards, his presentation was succinct and to the point and he literally answered every question (that I would have had) through his explanation and describing of the process. He was extremely willing to work with me on setting a time to schedule service and was 100% upfront and honest with me about every aspect of the services that he was offering (something that seems like a rarity in this business). Bob C is professional and very informative when he dropped in to provide his estimate. He provided us with FAQs and answered any questions we had. He proposes the type of insulation for us to get the best ROI (Return of Investment). It is helpful that Atticare provides 0% interest 12month payment plan for our insulation project. Bob's crew led by foreman Manuel came early (before 9am) on the day of insulation. The crew consists of 6 (including Manuel) was diligent in their work. The work was carried out exactly how it was written in the proposal. Signing the contract was a breeze, e-signed; photos/videos of the "before and after insulation" were readily available upon request. Manuel left our place spotless when they were done with the insulation job. I am very happy with Atticare and will contact them again when I am ready to insulate my basement and garage wall adjourning on side of the garage wall. I will not hesitate to recommend Atticare to my friends/neighbors for roofing/insulation projects. read more
