Six months later I noticed more droppings and called Hi-Tech back. Their technician told me it was likely the house settling and nothing to worry about. When we opened up the window trim during a siding project, we found tons of live termites (see photo) - still within our 1-year warranty period. When I called the office, I was told the warranty only covered the "inside" of the window, not the outside. It is the same window and the same termite problem. They offered to come back out and inspect, but quoted another $900. No apology, no ownership of the fact that the original treatment hadn't worked. I didn't feel right paying again for the same issue - and for a company I couldn't trust to solve the problem. The inspectors themselves were professional and courteous. The office experience was not. I ended up hiring a different company who treated the problem thoroughly and has been excellent. I'd recommend Hi-Tech improve how they handle situations where a treatment doesn't work. A little accountability goes a long way.

I requested an inspection because we had an issue with maggots in the bathroom. The inspector they…read moresent didn't have any tools or an adequate flashlight. He did almost nothing. The house has a crawlspace, and the door to it was screwed on and painted over; the inspector just stood there. So I got my drill and the tenant removed the screws and the door for me. The inspector said he couldn't go in because the opening was too small, and the tenant and I walked away in disgust. After that the inspector must have gotten down and looked in, because he showed me a very dark-looking video and said we had no termites. He didn't comment on the maggots. I called him later for an explanation and he said the homeowner is supposed to have everything open for them ahead of the visit. The office person I talked with should have told me that; I would have called someone else if they had.
