I do not have enough good things to say about this company! Avi gave me an awesome bid and that's when I could already see that I had chosen the correct company to work with. Juan and his crew came out and did a great job. They removed the old insulation I had in my attic for over 15 years and cleaned my attic. They installed some new R38 batts insulation and some ducts. I knew this task was`t going to be cheap but it had to be done sooner or later. Not only was having a rodent infestation a problem, we also had hardly any insulation in the attic which made it very cold this winter and high energy bills. I wasn't forced upon doing the insolation job but with the fair pricing i went ahead and got it done. My family has lives in my 2,200sqft house for almost 10 years and before that, my stepfather's family was living there for a few years prior. One area that we never, EVER even look at is the attic, but realized that in the winter seasons, it's been more than just cold in our house- FREEZING!!! What crazy, sometimes convoluted, imminent disaster will they find? Our house was built in '54 and has a very tiny crawlspace/attic. I recently used Attic Masters for a pretty big job at my new house that was under renovation. First, I had them come out to give me a bid on the attic work- cleaning, insulation, etc. Then, since I'd been getting bids on new HVAC systems, had them bid that, too. I've waited to write my review until some time after I paid them for the full job (which was $thousands$ less than the other closest bid). To sum it up, the system is AMAZING even though it was a very difficult install in my cramped attic, passed leak test and inspection just fine, works perfectly. Even some added extras were included that I didn't expect. Very nice. Any minor issue (I admit it- I am a picky consumer) Moe has risen to the challenge and has made everything satisfactory... even well after I paid him for the full job and the crew had been long gone. Great updates worth sharing! I'm in the process of selling my house. A home inspector and a buyer's contractor both commented to my agent that they rarely see attics as clean and well put together as mine... including the ducting. The buyer's contractor also evaluated my older heater which Attic Master serviced. I was searching online for good company to remove and replace my attic insulation because it gets VERY HOT in the summer. In addition to that I have a lot of storage stuff in my attic so I needed someone to put everything down so I Can get rid of the old stuff. Meo- the technician, came on beginning of May and gave me a lot of useful information and competitive quote and I decide to go with Attic Master. I contacted Attic Masters because of all the great reviews I found online. I've been putting it off for a while now, so I it was time to get my attic newly insulated. I called and spoke to Adam and explained the rodent issue that I was having for the last couple of months. When the 2 techs came out they measured the house and gave me a fair price that stayed within my budget. They finished in less than a day and did a really good job cleaning up after themselves. We just baught a house in Encino and after getting a thorough inspection we were told that the ductwork in the attic was asbestos wrapped and needed to be replaced. I did a search on Yelp and came across Attic Masters who had some great reviews. We called to setup an appointment and Virginia the secretary had some good phone manners so I already knew that I was in good hands. Alex came by to inspect our attic and upon inspection saw that the R value of our insulation was down to almost 0. He also took some pictures and showed us that we had rat droppings on some areas of the attic . Alex highly suggested that we clean out our entire attic lay down new insulation, remove the asbestos ducts and install new ones. The quote that we got was reasonably fair and wanted to have a peace of mind living in our new home so we decided to go ahead and accept the estimate which was presented clearly in an email. The abatement crew arrived at 8am and begun removing and banging the ducts , they were done by about 11am followed by a new crew whose job was to clean out the old insulation , rat proof and sanitize the attic. The second crew worked the whole day and were done at about 6PM. The next day a new crew arrived whose job was to install new ducts and also install an automated attic fan to keep the attic tempreture down. We called Attic Masters for a quote on cleaning out the attic and replacing the insulation. Mike came out to give us a free inspection as stated on their website. He was very thorough , knowledgable and easy to communicate with. When inspecting the attic he realized the the ducts were in bad shape and needed to be replaced . I found it quiet strange at first as the two companies that came before did not mention anything about ductwork been replaced. I did some research and found out that ducts that are 30 years or older need to be replaced. I called Attic Masters the very next day to schedule the actual appointment and begin work. Last winter was a particularly cold one in L.A., and even colder in my house. I never understood why I could never get it to warm up properly, until an uncle of mine told me about insulation. Ever since then I have been researching the topic and exploring different companies to do this to see who I feel most comfortable with. The first guy I talked to-- I believe that was Adam-- was very helpful and patient in answering questions for me over the phone. He then passed me over to Jonathan, who is the insulation expert. He sounds very knowledgeable and told me they could do a price estimate for free, so I had them come over . Indeed, not only did my attic need insulation, but it also needed a serious cleaning, which it turns out they can do too! You know, I have been telling myself I need to clean the attic for so long, and for that long I've been putting it off. I decided to let them clean the attic as well and just get that over with! Ha, I recently returned home from a 2 month vacation at another state, but before my boyfriend and I left home we said when we get back we gotta get our attic insulation replaced before we come back to a freezing home in the winter. We just got back a little over a week ago and the first thing we did is look up insulation replacement in the LA area on Yelp and came across Attic Masters! Attic Masters replaced our insulation in the attic and removed some asbestos pipes. They worked really hard to complete the job in 1 day as this was very important to us and this type of work usually takes 2 days. They did a good job covering all our furniture and made an access pathway to the attic covered by plastic so no fiberglass would come into the house. I called Attic masters about a month ago and asked for a quote to remove the asbestos in the attic and to replace all the ducts. I also needed to replace all of the insulation in the attic. We came home one Friday evening to find our house stinking from the obvious odor of a dead animal. Thinking we had a rat in the attic we contacted our pest control company, Dewey Pest Control, only to hear they didn't work weekends. After firing Dewey we contacted another pest control company who came to the house Saturday morning and discovered that we actually had a live raccoon in the crawl space between floors of our two story house. SHOCKING!!! Well then we learned pest control companies cannot deal with live raccoons and you have to find a trapper to do that. We hired a trapping company who came to the house Saturday afternoon and set up traps for the raccoon but still couldn't find the source of the odor permeating our house. What they did find was that the raccoon(s) had destroyed our insulation and duct work in both of our HVAC systems. However, two days later we still hadn't caught the raccoon, and never located the source of the odor. That's when we contacted ATTIC MASTERS. Alex came to the house on Sunday, investigated the attics and crawl space, found a dead rat he thought was the source of the odor, and gave us a fair estimate of the work to be done. We immediately booked ATTIC MASTERS through the very efficient and polite office person to start work on the house on Tuesday. Ronald and his team arrived promptly Tuesday morning....we thought the raccoon had departed the house and thus had planned to remove the traps that afternoon. Well we were SHOCKED again when one of Ron's team, crawling into the ceiling space none of the other companies could access, found and disposed of TWO DEAD RACCOONS, and ONE LIVE ONE!!!! We were then informed that we had approximately 50 dead rats in our insulation and duct work. Once the disgust subsided we were thrilled when the team got to work taking our ALL of our insulation and duct work. Once all the contaminated insulation and duct work was removed, and the attic disinfected and cleansed, our odor was removed. Then ATTIC MASTERS did a SPECTACULAR job completely reinsulating both attics and crawl spaces, replacing ALL our ductwork and wrapping it all and hanging the ducts from the rafters, they even built us a return on our HVAC system NONE of our AC people had been able to do before. We simply cannot recommend Alex, Ronald, ATTIC MASTERS and their whole team more highly. They were the only ones of five different companies to completely solve our problem, fully rodent proofing our home, and making our systems properly repaired even better than they were when first built. Where do you even begin when it comes to cleaning your attic? I thought it was as simple as some Febreeze and vacuum cleaner. A hard lesson learned after trying it - so my message to you guys is - HIRE PROFESSIONALS. IT'S WORTH YOUR MONEY. I tried hiring cleaning people from A few app companies that provide that, but when they were finished with the job, it looked halfway done. We live in a house from the 50's. I guess back then they thought some wood and dry wall would protect you from the 100+ degree days in the valley...not so much. I gave Attic Masters a call to help lower our heating and cooling bills. Their quote was very reasonable for the wall insulation and he also recommended attic insulation since apparently in the 50's they didn't believe in that either. We had it mainly installed from the outside since we were also getting the house painted. In two areas they couldn't get the insulation in the walls from the outside so they had to do it from the inside. Beware that this is a pretty dusty process. Jacob... Moe.... WOW! S-U-P-R-E-M-E definition of CUSTOMER SERVICE! I purchased a home that needed many different types of services. I had several different appointments and was very overwhelmed. When Jacob came to my house, he relieved A LOT of my stress! He took pictures of my old insulation with rat feces. He explained my 6 stage process very clearly and in detail. He also told me to cancel my appointment with Pest Control because they cover that too! I didn't have to call and find a separate contractor to remove the asbestos, because Attic Masters had their own contractor and handled it! All I had to do was a set a date! Jacob and Moe both worked with me around my schedule needs. They cleaned my furnace, sealed up all holes that could be potential entrances for pests. They vacuumed up everything to the bare wood bones and showed me pictures afterward of their whole process. Now I have 13 inches of insulation with a 5 year warranty, a cleaned out attic and furnace with a pest control warranty of 2 years! Update to my 3/19/2015 review regarding the Warranty: The Good News: The new furnace they installed did not "fall off a truck." The American Standard warranty rep explained all furnaces installed in CA receive an automatic 10-year warranty. The Confusion: Adam A from Attic Masters had told me that as soon as the furnace left the factory it's serial # was registered, and that I could go to the American Standard website, type in my serial # and confirm it's registration. I went to the website three times in one week, typing in my serial #. No joy. It took another week for me to find time to call American Standard during their Eastern business hours. Which is when the rep explained the CA default warranty situation. To quote the rep (Crystal): "So, he explained it a little goofy, but, in effect, he's correct." Because the warranty was valid, I didn't bother having Crystal step through the registration process. When I mentioned this confusion to Adam, he went to the website and registered the furnace in my name. So now it's officially registered. Update to my 3/192015 review re: the overall installation: Turns out the condensation line was not installed at an angle that would allow water to drain sufficiently. We found this out after the furnace only blew cold air 4-5 times since the initial install. The issue was so sporadic that we hadn't called Attic Masters about it. A typical experience would be: Day 1, works in morning and in evening. Day 2, works fine when turned on at 6:30 in morning and ran until 8 a.m. Blew cold when we turned it back on a 5 p.m. Would run when we tried again at 8 p.m. Day 3, works fine. We couldn't identify a pattern, and never knew when it would work. We finally were confused enough to call Attic Master on a drizzly Saturday morning. Adam sent someone to us that same day. The tech said the problem was likely the slope of the condensation line was too shallow. He increased the slope. The furnace ran fine that day and that evening. We haven't run the furnace since them (the weather has been warm). But I trust this will resolve the issue. My overall Yelp rating remains the same. Per Yelp rating system, 2 stars means "Meh. I've experienced better." I appreciate all the effort Attic Masters has put into ensuring I'm 100% satisfied. But that doesn't change the fact that I've had many other service people do the job correctly the first time. read more
