Just bought our first home which is a fixer upper. Our friends suggested that we have the insulation looked at because in older homes it can make a big difference if the insulation has never been replaced. It really wasn't part of our budget, as we already wanted to do a lot of cosmetic changes. As LA is going through one of those rare cold freezing periods during the middle of winter, my heater decides to die on me. Oh my god! My children and I can not sleep in this mid 50 temperature in our home. I called and called around all over town trying to find a reasonable contractor to save us; then I ran across Attic Masters. Not only did they come in with the lowest bid, they were professional, hard working, and really made every effort to make the customer happy. And let me tell you, I have gone though many many contractors in sprucing up my new home. Truly a blessing to find a contractor that cares about the customer as much as they do. I normally never go with the lowest bid but Moe really took the time in explaining the quality of the work they do. The Job: I was stuck with a dead furnace, old out of code air ducts and uninsulated attic (insulation was removed previously due to rat infestation; surprise to find that Attic Masters does this as well. Had I know about it last year I would have had them do it.). We decide to get everything done and just bite the bullet now. Job performance: The crew arrived promptly in the morning of the job and covered up my house with plastic/paper lining covering wall, floor, and carpet. Wow! I really appreciated their care in keeping my home clean and protected from scratches. That always pisses me off so much when other contractors don't take the time to do that! I worked with Adam and he quoted me a fair price and what I got was superior work. This company is focused upon providing professional expert work while maintaining customer satisfaction. It was headache free and my attic is sanitized and clutter free with great insulation. I appreciate the detailed explanation and the referral for additional insulation services for my walls as well. I received bids from several other firms but did not feel from their consultation or explanation of the services that I was getting the full picture in terms of what actually would be done. Its important to have your insulation in your attic done properly especially if you have a house fan that pulls air up from your home into the attic. Some firms were just going to blow the insulation in without creating the proper dams. The end result would have been insulation floating around every time I turned on my house fan. I can now turn that thing on with confidence that I have good circulation. We also had rat droppings in the attic which were removed and sanitized. Holes that would have allowed birds and other rodents were all sealed up. I was a little disappointed in their follow through with getting my utility rebate. They were unresponsive to the utility company and my emails. In addition I had some issues in negotiating the work and luckily their contractor pointed out a few deficiencies in what they were offering me and helped me to get the appropriate amount of insulation and energy rating too. read more

In spite of having 2 (completely worthless) cats, I'd been having mice visiting me on a regular basis. Traps, poison and even letting the (worthless) cats go into the attic, they kept on coming. We finally had enough and after contacting a couple of exterminator companies, we decided what we really needed was removal of the old (smelly) insulation, a thorough cleaning and sanitizing and finally sealing up all of the mouse points of entry. Big Shout Out to Romeo and his crew (Carlos & Antonio) these guys did a great job!! Also want to thank Yaniv who initially evaluated my home and quoted me a great price. They were all very thorough, conscientious, diligent and hard working. Dealing with the heat and tight spaces I was impressed on how the job looked after completion. They removed three different types of attic insulation, asbestos, old roofing shingles, boards, rodent and squirrel dropping, etc. Very clean prior to installing new insulation. Attic Masters installed new HVAC ducts, and rodent proofed all vents and any other potential portals of entry. My attic no longer has that musty smell either. Romeo and I inspected prior, during and after to insure we were all on the same page of what my exceptions were. I am so pleased with Attic Masters! We received a visit from another organization (government related) that wanted to energy-upgrade our home. After giving their diagnosis of our attic, we decided to get a second opinion. We called Attic Masters. Jacob from Attic Masters came out and looked at our attic and gave us a very reasonable price to basically give us a new attic. The team came out in a few days and got the job done in one day. They abated the asbestos under our old insulation, disposed of all old insulation, detoxed the attic, and cleaned out rodent, ahem, "contributions." Afterward, Attic Masters installed new insulation meeting California standards, an insulation that also is rodent and pest resistant! The team was very professional as well. They covered the entire work area with plastic, and basically quarantined the work area like a crime scene (awesome!). They took off their shoes, at my request, and worked cleanly and neatly. After they left, I noticed a vent not blowing air very strongly. They came back and took a look at it again, telling me to call if I ever need anything. Jacob helped me understand how to apply for all the tax and energy rebates. I was able to begin that process on their website, which makes it even easier for me. Overall, I am very pleased with their service, which was a fraction of the cost the other organization would have charged (with interest over 20 years!). TRULY, As good as it gets! Attic Masters was the 4th (and last) company I looked into. Their representative, Avi, came out and gave me a very thorough assessment and explanation after looking around in my attic. He was knowledgeable and patient as I asked questions and told him what others had said previously. I was sent a detailed account of all work to be done with costs. In the end, I felt that this company was the most thorough, responsible, and honest. I am so glad I made this choice! Juan, Carlos, and Otni came out the first day to sanitize and seal up openings. All were extremely polite, respectful, and thoughtful! They worked all day with only a lunch break and cleaned up magnificently! I was impressed! They returned this morning and again, worked their tails off! Wearing plastic suits and masks in this heat, they installed new ducts and insulation today. The many 5-star ratings earned led us to Attic Masters, and we are happy to add another 5-star rating for the high quality they provided. The excellent service started with the visit from Tal to give us a quote. He arrived on time, went through the inspection and then gave us a quote. He patiently answered every question we had. We did further research to check the price quoted and when we found out that they were reasonable we decided to move forward with the project. The job was scheduled within a few days. On the day appointed the crew arrived on time, and they were very careful to put all sorts of plastic covers and padding to make sure that there is no damage and to minimize the spread of dust. The team led by Omar was happy to answer all questions or concerns. The guys did not waste any time and completed the job in two days. The effect of the work they completed was immediately felt. Attic masters was such a save for me. I needed someone to come check the walls because of the heat and humidity. I knew my insulation needed to be replaced but I didn't know what else , after all I don't usually take care of these matters on my own. After looking up reviews in a few different places I found Attic Masters and called them. I was really hoping it would work out because of the fact they are in downtown and I am also in downtown which was really convenient. In my attic I could see rats had chewed dozens of holes in the wall, there was no fan and the whole thing looked and smelled contaminated. I called and they were super polite and professional. The radiant barrier combined with the r38 batt insulation made a huge difference. The price was very affordable for the value they provided and they finished my entire job in one day with a big crew. Our experience with Attic Masters was fine. We had our old insulation removed & replaced and the attic cleaned. My only suggestion to anyone interested in using them is to be sure to get an-person estimate. Over the phone I was told it would be a 1 day job and it turned out that it needed to be a 2 day job. Totally not their fault (or mine), but they probably would have realized that this was 2 day-er if they'd seen the attic beforehand. Our job was started on a Friday and they could not come back to complete it until Sunday- which was annoying. It would have been a nice gesture for them to give us like $100 bucks off our bill for the inconvenience, but it is what it is. The price was consistent with other estimates that I got while shopping around- it was fair and I feel we got our money's worth. Valerie at the office handled our quote and she was polite and professional. It was nice that a real person answered the phone the first time I called. She e-mailed the quote promptly after we spoke. Juan was our 'foreman' the day-of, a Friday, and was also friendly and professional. The team was very hardworking and went right to it. Juan did leave the jobsite for like 2.5 hours after telling me he'd be gone 20 mins, which was weird, but the crew didn't slack off without him or anything so it was fine. The second day was about the same- hardworking crew- the foreman left for an extended period and when he returned he just sat in the truck across the street with the air conditioning on- weird- but the work got done. Everyone was friendly and polite. In short, fair price, polite & professional staff, showed up on time, worked hard- did what we expected. To echo all of the other stellar reviews, Attic Masters is fantastic. I hardly ever go into the attic because there's really no need; there's nothing up there. Or so I thought. Turns out, mice had taken up residence, which I could hear rustling about. I don't like the hassle of hiring professionals to do jobs I think I can do, so I tried to solve the issue myself by setting traps. It worked on one poor mouse (I felt bad because I don't want to kill animals, but I also don't want mice in my home), but that was it. There were still more leaving their...markings. After reading all the great reviews about Attic Masters, I called them up. Scheduling an appointment was easy (they catered to my needs), they showed up when they said they would, and they got to work. They got rid of the mice, cleaned the entire attic and found the hole the mice had been using to enter and exit, and then they sealed it. No more mice! Professional, prompt, friendly, and efficient. I hired Attic Masters for Asbestos abatement, attic cleaning, HVAC removal/replacement, new insulation and vent cleaning. I recommend this business based on three things: 1) Good communication - the office was open on Sunday (a rarity), I briefly explained the problem and scheduled an in-person estimate within two days. My estimator was named Tal. In addition to the reminder call the day before, Tal called 30 minutes prior to arrival and made it within the promised two-hour window. Amazing. Tal was thorough, friendly and spoke knowledgeably. 2) Transparency - their quote is super transparent. It includes itemized list of services, names of materials used and in my case the contractor info who removed asbestos 3) Good, timely service - a big crew showed up on the day of, on time. Living in a historic town with an older home means keeping up with the repairs and replacing the Insulation in our attic was long overdue. We did lots of research with quotes and Adam was able to send one of his staff out to give us a quote on the SAME DAY that we called them. While we were getting a quote on getting Insulation replaced, Tal mentioned that they also could replace our HVAC with a more efficient one. Although we didn't originally budget for the new HVAC we knew we needed it more than we claimed. We're glad we decided to do both the Insulation and HVAC at the same time. I called on a Thursday or Friday, then they came out on Monday, were here by 10:30 AM (I can't remember for sure, I was groggy from sleep deprivation). They left a little less than an hour ago. It looks like they were never here. Very clean. I looked up in the attic afterward and my first thought was: "oh, so that's how much insulation I'm supposed to have..." It was maybe a foot thick? My previous insulation was maybe a couple of inches thick, tops? Looks good, smells good... I'll try to update in a few months when I start getting new electric bills. My biggest reason for doing this was my insane cooling bill in the summer. I'm about 3 mi. from the coast in "Culver City" (postal address, not the actual city), and it shouldn't be this hard to keep things cooler. Great job, guys. Very professional. I like how I paid the bill and the guy on the other end directed me to get some rebates from SoCal gas. No upsells. No infestations. Although they did say it was "very dirty" up there. First of all, I didn't even end up hiring Attic Masters but I still believe they deserve a good rating because of the reason I didn't hire them. I live in a Townhouse and was concerned about the insulation in the attic crawl space above my unit. They came to my home, looked in my attic and told me that my insulation was good and that there was no need to add or change any of my insulation. There was no pressure for an up-sell or for things that I didn't need. They were nice and professional and courteous. They did say that I may want to consider putting in a radiant barrier but that I would only get a good return on my investment if I plan on living in my home for at least another five years. Since we plan on buying another place before then, he told me it wouldn't make any financial sense for me to have them do anything! The only thing I would recommend to them is that they don't allow their employees to smoke a cigarette just prior to coming into someones home. The technician had two "trainees" with him and one of them reeked so bad of cigarette smoke it took my breath away when he entered my home. read more
