I was shocked, with the PSE rebate, which NW Insulation takes care of, the estimate was thousands less than I thought it would be! I signed up, and a day or so later I got a call to schedule the install, again, surprisingly, they could do it right away and I scheduled for about a week out. The installers got to my house about 8am and were very polite and professional. They basically worked all day, got the job done, and were on their way. They left everything clean and it is amazing to me how the house looked when they were done. They blew in the insulation from the exterior and the method that they used left no trace, they removed a course of siding, drilled holes, filled the walls, plugged the holes, and replaced the siding. You can't even tell that they were there. I have only had a few hot days to determine if there has been an improvement and honestly it really does seem to stay cooler inside, looking forward to winter for the real test. Peter came out and spent about 20 minutes "looking". Notably, he didn't even put on a protective suit, which is highly suspicious given that my crawl space has very limited mobility. He claimed that I had active rodents, partially disconnected ducting, and chewed-through ducts, telling me I needed to replace everything entirely. He initially gave a verbal estimate of $15k-$25k, and then sent two separate quotes that totaled more than 30k with absolutely no photos or evidence to support his claims. What he didn't bother to ask was when someone was last under my home. I just had work done last year and an inspection two days prior. Because of his alarming claims, I had a third company come out for a tie-breaker inspection. They confirmed that absolutely none of what Peter said was true. This quote was nothing more than an dishonest cash grab. Had he actually crawled into the space and done a real inspection, he would have seen the work was recently completed. As a woman, I felt completely disrespected, targeted, and taken advantage of. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Pro's - Basic work seemed to be done well and at a price that was competitive with others I contacted at least for the basic service. - Communication was prompt. - After some re-scheduling on their part, the team did the work swiftly and efficiently. - Most of the terms were clear in advance, using Yelp Projects. Con's - This is a fairly shiesty corner of the home maintenance world. Many providers seem to give you a low-ball estimate to get in the door and then upsell significantly. - Envirosmart is not an exception. - The initial quote was $200. This included scoping the ducts and doing the negative pressure clean-out. - Onsite, they then upsold me to $670 for a more thorough brushing of the vents, sanitation, and some other ancillary services. - They were only modestly well-organized. They called the day-of to reschedule because of a conflict with internal training. They also confirmed a different time than I had originally scheduled. It was the difference of a 9 to 11am original window and a 2:30-3pm arrival. - The Yelp Project communication could have been clearer. They did not specify whether they were calling to quote me or coming to do the service! Amid all this and with some clarification and flexibility on our part, we worked it out. I would have appreciated either a discount or additional service for the delay. None was proffered. I did not go ahead with the upsell as I had already gotten quotes for less from other providers with somewhat more transparent pricing. I think the work they did appeared fine. See attached pics. Your guess is as good as mine which are before and which are after! They did not specify when they sent them to me and email took off the timestamp. I'm hoping the cleaner ones. I probably will try another service when I do this again and with a higher rated provider. All in all, though, I had low expectations and those low expectations were met.

I did notice this summer that the house stayed cooler because the attic heat was not seeping into the house turning the place into a slow cooker. After the work, I discovered an unusual amount of dust accumulating in my house and tracked it down to the attic intake duct not being sealed and the new blow in cellulose insulation being sucked into my air system. I removed the blow in insulation to seal it and found all the shoddy work done by the Crawl Pros crew: unsealed ducts, horribly sloppy foam spray sealing, wrapped ducts with large gaps where insulation is missing, old rat droppings not cleaned up, sand from blasting not vacuumed, bent blow in depth gauge to mislead about actual insulation depth, old insulation re-used and buried, loose staples from a failed staple gun, and damaged hardwood floor near attic entrance. A very reasonable quote for a job well -done, with the Company actually fronting the Cascadia Gas customer energy rebate, which more than halved the cost of the project. Full marks across the board!

I was hearing faint noises in the attic once in a while but thought it was the house "settling"…read more Then when I went up there to route some wiring, I found a disgusting mess of what was left behind by bats! Being too old to handle the huge task myself, I called around for estimates to remove the insulation, clean, seal any opening in which allow rodents access and then reinsulate. The only one that I found that did all that and more was Insulation Co. I called and talked to Jo Estrada and he gave me a quote and a detailed description of what that all includes: Insulation removal, complete cleaning, deodorizing and sanitizing. Sealing of all gaps not just for rodent control, but air gaps around vents, wire boxes and joints. The spot that allowed bat ingress and egress was sealed with a heavy duty screen/expanded metal and a foam fill product. Sorry bats! The hard working team was on time, completely covered the garage floor with a huge sheet of plastic and got to work. Rafael Diaz was the team leader and introduced himself and explained what he and his team were going to do. After all the aforementioned work, they removed all the old cardboard eave vent protectors and replaced them with new ones and stapled/tacked them in place. Good thing because some of the old ones were falling down. They also removed all the bathroom vent flex hoses and replaced them with hard sheet metal tubing. Then sealed the joints and wrapped the vent tubing with insulation! Then, they blew in 14-15 inches of new cellulose insulation including above the garage by my request. They even tacked insulation on the access cover to the attic which is in the garage and didn't have any originally! The work site, garage and driveway were all cleaned up and I couldn't be happier. While they may not be the cheapest, they were fast (in and out in 4 hours), very good and did more that the other companies promised. I apologize for the long review, I'm just so relieved that my attic is in better shape now than when I had the house built! I'm sure it will help with the ever increasing electric bill!
