If it's open and classes are going on when I'm at the park, I will poke my head in and walk about. In addition to the auditorium and wellness classes offered, a state-of-the-art recording studio is also housed in the building. Awhile back I was invited to stop over for a recording session happening with some neighborhood musician friends. My ex-husband is a musician and I know my way around a studio (sorta, lol). It was such a fun experience getting to be present while my friends were recording new tracks. Most recently (weekend of 7/10/26), I attended the three-day 2026 Rancho Alegre Conjunto Music Festival which was a BLAST! Free admission, can't beat that. Tons and tons of bands and performers. I wasn't able to attend all three days but am very happy I was able to make some of it. Saw performances from University of Texas (at Austin) Conjunto, Los Mungias, Texas Sweethearts, Harvey Valdez, Los Texas Wranglers, Grupo Dale Shine, and a few others. It was a magnificent event in a wonderful space. The auditorium is absolutely a community gathering spot for everyone.

A fitness workshop with approximately 200 folks present was held at the auditorium today along with a workshop on Imposter Syndrome, which was informative in many ways. The auditorium, a medium sized facility looking much like a gym, is located in East Austin. A number of events are held at the auditorium - town halls, community meetings, performances, concerts, and private gatherings. The auditorium has an elevated stage and additional featues that make it flexible for different setups. The building appears to be aging in some areas. Parking was limited; however, free street parking was available nearby. A little history...Doris Miller was an American naval hero who played a key role during World War II. On December 7, 1941, while serving on the USS West Virginia at Pearl Harbor, he rescued wounded sailors, including the captain, and manned an anti-aircraft gun despite no formal training. For his bravery, he became the first African American to receive the Navy Cross. One key takeaway from the Imposter Syndrome workshop is that many times when we think something about someone, it is usually not true. The presenter used the example of someone being in class and looking disinterested. However, the true of the matter is that they were trying to Shazam a song unsuccessfully. Key takeaway...don't make judgements without knowing all the facts. Importantly, sometimes we are what is drvinging our imposter syndrome.

They have great equipment and trainers available should you want that personal touch. You will need to schedule your workouts with a trainer, but you can work out 24 hrs a day, should you want. We chose to do our three weekly workouts on our own, but if I hit a snag, I would not hesitate to call Karen! It is not a large facility, but they have exactly what is needed to get a good workout. They have resistance training equipment, a treadmill, stepper climber, bike, free weights and nautilus type weight equipment. If you are looking for them - enter the middle atrium of the La Piazza shopping center, next to the clock tower. The gym is in the last door on the right. See ya at the gym!

Yoga and chill at the Fareground was a beautiful day to enjoy Yoga outside…read more I kept seeing Swift Fit events and had to sign up, I told my good friend I want to get more involved in the community and connecting is a good way to start. Everyone was so friendly, and there were so many people attending from all age groups, women and men. I thought that was awesome! The yoga instructor was very supportive and her voice was so soothing. You can tell they care and I heard they always have great instructors felt so amazing and it was my friend's first time doing yoga and he loved it. Parking wasn't too far from the location and the restaurant inside validated it for the garage parking. Can't wait to check out more events and a lot of them are FREE

Such an amazing experience and great time working out. I met some lovely people and left the class feeling physically and emotionally energized! The studio is inside an…read moreadorable converted house with a similar feel of the south Lamar location but is more spacious. They also have a boutique selling nice workout clothing, grip socks and fancy water bottles. I did the hour long barre class yesterday and it was an excellent workout. Hollie instructed the fast paced class with grace and before I knew it the hour was over. They also offer other classes like Mod Burn which incorporates high intensity training and Barre 50 (shorter class). There are new client specials and I purchased an Austin Tidbits deal of 3 weeks for $49. If you like barre you will love Mod Fitness.

My new favorite place for Barre classes in north-central ATX. The studio is clean, simple, small. It's a house turned fitness studio, with about 6 parking spots in back, and street parking in front. I've never had a problem finding parking, morning or evening. There is a small area for your belongings, a front desk (with a friendly face posted up), 2 clean restrooms, and the work out room. The walls are lined with mirrors and barres, of course. During the barre classes (my favorite), you will need a mat, ball, small hand weights, and a strap (all provided). You literally work every part of your body. Upper, lower, middle, front, back... you get the idea. Every time I attend, I find myself surprised at the exercises that are new to me. I'm a DVD and workout class junkie, and to learn new exercises excites me! You will work your lower half to the point of shakes and earthquakes around the barre, all by being pushed in an encouraging way. All the instructors are just awesome. I appreciate the countdown (just 8 more seconds... etc), which usually leads to an isometric hold... which leads to 8 pulses, then relax (8 more is a white lie). I leave MOD feeling like a goddess. Get your booty to the barre and get ready to work! I love MOD!

I discovered yesterday the Boggy Creek Greenbelt when I was looking for parking while volunteering…read moreat the Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center. There is a trail that meanders all the way to Rosewood Park...a park that I have spent a great deal of time in over the years. Boggy Creek Greenbelt is a public park and trail in East Austin. It has a mixture of lush green vegetation, a sea of trees and picnic areas sprinkled throughout the park. After my volunteer time, I walked through the park enjoying the fruits of nature. Boggy Creek Greenbelt can easily be used for walking, jogging, biking, and dog walking. You can see pedestrian bridges along the path. I can see the opportunities to unwind, meditate and relax while enjoying the park.

This part of the trail is on the street where I live and a quick jaunt from my place to enter the…read morepath. It's part of Rosewood Park that is also home to the Rosewood Pillar Mural (created by six different artists to beautify underpass columns over the trail). The mural installation is called 'The Pillars Project-Our History, Our Trail'. The project was sponsored by Public City and Raasin in the Sun as part of the trail beautification project. The trail runs along the entire greenbelt and provides a welcoming sanctuary for walkers, runners, and cyclists. Dogs are welcome on the trail and must be leashed. We like taking walks here in the evening and sometimes we'll take a snack and stop off for a mini picnic. Early morning walks along the trail are beautiful with the sunlight hitting the treetops and the creek, providing stunning reflections. The trail crosses Boggy Creek and runs along Webberville Road as well. You can walk it from Rosewood Park (near the pool and pillars) to 12th Street, MLK and more. It's also part of a 32 mile (Red Line Trail, Cap Metro) that goes from downtown out to Leander. It's lovely to have nature literally at our doorstep to be able to breathe in fresh air with peaceful walks to shake off the stress of the day.

Between MLK and 12th St. you'll find this very nice paved pathway for hikers and bikers. The Metro…read morerail stop at MLK will put you right at the entrance, assuming you ride the rail. It is a scenic stretch of property that runs across Boggy Creek and has some community gardens along the path which you can walk through. This community garden is known as Saint David's community gardens. Also, along the path you will find Downs Mabson baseball fields. This is a very welcome green space and path for all the residents who reside in the hundreds of apartments very nearby. There is no public bathrooms at the rail stop, but there is lone porta potty just down the gravel trail 100 yards away. Definitely a very nice asset to the local urban dwellers. This place is serene, especially in the mornings, with the adjacent Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail. Auditorium Shores is a popular Austin location with a large green lawn, waterfront views, and a breathtaking panoramic of the downtown Austin skyline. We ate breakfast on the lawn and had a nice morning chat. In addition, Auditorium Shores is known for outdoor concerts, movies on the lawn, and outdoor events such as SXSW and July 4th firework displays. One notable landmark is the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue, who is one of our local music icons. My BIL loved visiting auditorium shores. Please note that there is plenty of street parking if you are lucky enough to find one.
