Purchased a thermal bypass valve for my dad's Cummins for Christmas. Turns out, he already has one. I've made multiple email attempts to contact this company for a return. No Response for a full week. I have just now called and they want to charge a 30% restock fee for a $48 still-in-the package part that probably cost them $25 or less to manufacture a 3" x 3" piece of aluminum. Company policy is garbage, which I guess is why they do not list their return policy on their website. Judging by other reviews, customer service isn't ATS Diesels only issue. I don't normally leave Yelp reviews since Yelp has it's own stigma, but ATS must have removed their Google listing as I could not leave a google review for this company. Run--don't walk--away from ATS Diesel Performance. This company has been nothing but a financial and mechanical disaster for me. After just 18 months, the first ATS Allison replacement transmission completely failed. I had to tow my truck from Wisconsin all the way to Denver for a replacement, only to drive it 1,000 miles back home and have it fail again the very next morning. It then took ATS five months to "fix" the issue, and they stuck me with another $4,000 bill. Between the two transmissions, I've now spent over $28,000--and the truck has only seen 50,000 miles in that time. That is an outrageous cost for a product that has proven to be unreliable, poorly supported, and ultimately worthless. To make matters worse, Nathan Grizzoffi, their General Manager, personally told me he'd get to the bottom of the issue and get right back to me. Nearly two months later--after repeated calls and emails--I've heard nothing from him or ATS. Empty promises, zero accountability. I have 07 dodge 5.9 cummins with stage 2 ATS 48RE. It has 49k on the ats and it started slipping already when its not used as tow vehicle or been hot rodded. I tried to older parts that it might be and paid extra for 2 day shipping as I can't go to work because my 6k transmission doesn't work. several days go by and it hasn't even left there shop or been shipped. when I call to see what is going on I get told they don't offer 2 day shipping on the parts I want after paying for that option. I needed a new valve body and solenoid pack for my 68RFE ASAP. Adair and the rest of the team at ATS had one built, tested and shipped to me in just a couple of days. Adair took plenty of time to answer my questions and kept me in the loop while my new valve body was being built. He even texted me with the tracking number once it shipped. He also tossed in the billet filter adapter for free. So I don't have to worry about the mopar plastic adapter breaking and grenading my transmission. The valve body and solenoid pack arrived well packaged and it was quick and easy to swap it out. I now have the peace of mind that I will be getting more life out of my transmission. Do not waste your money on this poorly engineered product. Unless it is machined perfectly, ( mine was not) it has the potential to have a "ridge" in the middle of the Turbo flange preventing a perfect seal. Hot gases escaped and melted my coolant lines leaving me stranded hundreds of miles from home with a trailer full of horses on a mountain pass. I made an appointment for a turbo replacement for a 2011 F350 6.7. COVID or not the appointment time was spot on. Easy drop-off and immediate attention to my truck repair. Initial inspection indicated a exhaust manifold gasket leak. Service desk called to update possible additional repairs required and costs. Stated if turbo didn't require replacement they'd reinstall it as part of the manifold replacement. Told them to replace turbo anyway due the number of miles on the turbo. The entire process including having a couple busted studs removed and replaced plus getting manifold and gaskets from Ford less than TWO DAY'S! Amazing workmanship and time management. I'm coming back for all my ATS parts installs. read more

Terrible, I purchased a 48re stage 4. has been nothing but a nightmare. shifting is off, shifts hard, overheats in drive thru's. ATS replaced it and same issues. now it makes grinding noises when in park. I got 2k miles out of the first one and maybe 1k miles out of the second. Their 5 star converter is making humming noises now as well. Oh and their bullet proof flex plate broke at 500 miles. the welds on the center broke. I paid them a little over $8k for this tranny. Jeffery Wolfe, ATS Diesel Warranty Manager / Tech Support / Sales / Returns, is "the tip of the iceberg" who enforces ATS Diesel's warranty repair policies. As a result, ATS Diesel at large is now a failed organization and their "bulletproof products" are no longer an industry frontrunner. Their subpar operation has become a quagmire of deception and double-talk. Their customer support is a constant struggle as you fight to achieve that which should be occurring naturally. If your ATS transmission fails (my ATS transmission failed two times within ten months - the second (2nd) failure was catastrophic), ATS will ignore your local Transmission tech's diagnosis and instead, ATS Diesel (Jeffery Wolfe) will tell you repeatedly that your local Transmission Tech is a liar and will attempt to put a Band-Aid on a bullet wound, by sending parts which your local transmission tech specifically stated will not rectify the issue. In the aftermath ATS Diesel (Jeffery Wolfe) will finally request that your failed ATS transmission be returned to ATS for repair. The start-to-finish timeframe of your ATS transmission's diagnosis, repair and return to you: FOUR (4) MONTHS. To add insult to injury, after four (4) months of drama when your refurbished ATS Transmission is finally reinstalled, Jeffery Wolfe will then tell your local repair shop that repair reimbursement checks are only mailed on the first (1st day) of every month... Hence, if your refurbished ATS transmission is reinstalled on the 2nd or 3rd day of the month, Jeffery Wolfe will not send out a repair reimbursement check until the following month. If you want your vehicle back, you must pay for the entire repair out of pocket. Even worse, ATS Diesel's Jeffery Wolfe will not pay for the entire repair. Hence, ATS Diesel's warranty guarantee is completely false. When you confront Jeffery Wolfe with the fact that he told your local Transmission Tech that he will not pay for the entire repair, he will again tell you that your local Transmission Tech is a liar and deny that he (Jeffery Wolfe) ever said such a thing. Eight (8) years ago, ATS Diesel was a great company which produced an awesome product, but it is no longer that same company. Chippy's Transmissions Of Morgantown, WV, a Transmission Industry icon for more than 40 years, stated that resultant of ATS Diesel / Jeffry Wolfe's antics (drama, lies, and double-talk), that they will no longer perform ANY warranty work for ANYONE who has an ATS Diesel Transmission. In fact, Chippy's Transmission personnel stated that I was the third (3rd) person in the last year which ATS Diesel forced into using a rental car for four (4) calendar months. Unfortunately my transmission went out on my truck. I was referred to ATS through a friend because their transmission are great. After doing research, their transmission look great with the upgraded parts. I ordered my transmission from them and they told me it would take at most 4 business days to get here. I am here after two and a half weeks and I just called their customer service to see where my transmission was and they told me that the transmission was not even built yet. Their EXCUSE... they had a technician out and they were using the dyno to tune personal cars and didnt have enough time to build it. THEY OFFERED NO DISCOUNT, NO RESOLUTION AND NO APOLOGY. I had to turn down two separate jobs due to not having a truck and when I asked if ATS could pay for a rental truck ($360) from enterprise, they said no because "their policy" said they dont guarantee the shipping date, even though I had to call and see why there was a delay and was not notified. Their transmissions might be great and a good price, but I canceled my order solely based on their absolutely terrible customer service and the willingness to even try to help out a customer. I would like to express how deeply dissatisfied I am with my experience as a whole with your products how frustrated I am at what I've been through trying to get my vehicle to run as it should. I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.7L Hemi and a 545RFE transmission, I had an ATS diesel transmission installed back right around April 2016 at a shop called Chaos Fab Shop in Winchester, VA - apparently an ATS dealer - they recommended it to me as being tougher and more reliable. I've never had to have a transmission replaced before, but was excited with what I was explained to be getting. I was estimated about 2 weeks to get the transmission, about a month later it finally arrived, and the shop told me it was D.O.A - according to your notes, They lied and it was an install error - and you guys paid to have it sent back and rebuilt - if this is true, I do appreciate that extra mile to take care of me. It took about another month to get a new transmission, had it installed and it still had issues, shifted hard, had delayed shifting at full throttle, and it just never felt "right". This was while my vehicle was pretty much stock except for an K&N intake system. NOTE: after the transmission was replaced, I had 32" tires installed and had my differentials re-geared to 4.10s to compensate for the bigger tires - so the strain on the drive train is just about stock - give or take a few percent. And still had the same issues. Fast forward a few months, I was told my TCM may have been acting up, so I had a brand new PCM / TCM installed in my vehicle and programmed at a Jeep dealer, same issues, clunking, weird shifting, etc. Forward again to 2017, transmission failure again. Clutch material in the oil pan, and all kinds of codes. Had it warrantied by ATS, and installed by an ATRA certified shop, ATS customer service talked me into getting the Co-Pilot as well as it would drastically increase the performance and reduce any issues I had with the transmission. Had everything installed and the shop (Kens automotive in Frederick, MD) contacted ATS to verify everything, and I had nothing but issues again. The co-pilot was making my Jeep throw engine codes and losing power, etc. So I had to pay to have it removed again, and sent back for a return to ATS. Even right after my warranty rebuilt ATS trans was installed, it still didn't feel right, weird shifting, clunking, delayed shifting, etc. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, total failure, extreme clunking, throwing transmission codes such as p0700 and p0734, transmission going into limp mode again (only 3rd gear working I believe) and a lot of vibration. I contacted ATS customer service, I was told I could have it warrantied, but again, I'd have to pay for shipping, and pay for labor which in my area would total close to $2000 just about 2/3rds of a new / re manufactured transmission. I was also told that even though the previous time I went with a co-pilot, I should get a new co-pilot, otherwise I'd be more than likely be having the same issue all over again with clutches failing in about a year on a mostly stock Jeep Grand Cherokee. I brought it up asking, about it, then he back peddled a little saying oh well, you may be fine without a co-pilot but it still may or may not fail within 2 years without a co-pilot. Also I would like to note, after all these transmissions and issues I have only put about 20,000 - 25,000 miles TOTAL on all of these transmissions combined. I was hoping for a little help / reimbursement and just have a straight up dealership transmission installed since EVERY transmission I've had from ATS from day 1 has never acted right, but I was informed my only options are to pay and have it shipped, pay for labor, and have you rebuild it even though I've always had an issue with every ATS transmission from day 1 and probably fail again if I don't get a co-pilot which didn't work before (but oh wait, its been redesigned), or cover my own cost for an entire new transmission from the dealer. read more

I purchased a Transmission for a Dodge 2003 3500 4x4 5.9. It took them a good month to get the tranny built and shipped to California (NBD). The problem began after I had my mechanic tell me the governor sensor in the tranny was bad. Jeff, the warranty guy, at ATS basically told me that he didn't believe my mechanic and he would only honor the warranty if I took it to a "certified shop." After moving the truck, with their brand new tranny, down there, the other tranny shop confirmed their parts were bad. Jeff stopped returning calls, was "out of the office," or "would get back to me when he could." I get he was busy, but this truck works for a living. The front office was of no help as I tried to go to his supervisor to explain I need to get some help from them on this. The truck was out of commission for over 2 months while Jeff gave me bs excuses as to why they wouldn't work with me on it. He wanted me to pay for the diagnosis, also pay for the labor, and then maybe, just maybe, they would cover the parts. In the end, I paid for the diagnosis ($200), the tranny ($7,000), the downtime of the truck ($1,200), and the labor ($375) to repair their broken tranny which came DOA. They paid for the parts, but... BUT I had to pay for the shipping($50). That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard from a company anywhere. My advice is to not bother with ATS products. Their warranty is garbage, the staff is unhelpful, and if they can get away without honoring their warranty they will. read more

The expensive transmission I ordered came with a bolt broken off where the dust cover goes and a leaking pump seal. It caused a lot of work and expense and down time for my truck. ATS was pretty slow to reimburse me for all the extra costs. They were also supposed to send some t shirts and hats for all my trouble, but they never sent them. i would probably pick a different company next time. read more

On 6/14/2021 I purchased a Stage 2 48RE complete transmission and an auxiliary cooler from ATS, the transmission was $5,455.63 and the auxiliary cooler was $427.45 before tax. Before ordering, I called to check on build times and was ensured that they could complete one within 8 weeks to include delays. In the 7th week, I called to see if the transmission was on track to be completed by the 8th week and was told that they were awaiting a couple of parts for it. In the 9th week, I was told by Gabby that it was in waiting to be tested on the dyno, same excuse for the 10 and 11th weeks. By week 12, it finally arrived and was installed at a local shop. Immediately, the transmission showed signs of shifting problems and was leaking badly. I took it back to the shop to diagnose the issue after filing a warranty claim on the transmission, the diesel shop with the help of Jeff from ATS, could not find the issue but wanted to change a few components to see if it would fix the issue. While waiting for the parts the transmission became worse, even though I had to add 1+ quarts of fluid every other day. I am a disabled veteran, and it is my only vehicle, I had to drive it when needed. I called and informed Jeff of the new issue of it not being able to move in any gear. 5 weeks later, the parts arrived, and I took them to a transmission specialist to replace the parts. $485, out of my pocket, but ATS will only reimburse $425. I got the parts in the truck but also received several phone calls, photos, and videos of what the mechanic found. He looked at the transmission while installing the new components and found a lot of clutch material and an internal leak. I immediately began calling and emailing Jeff to inform him, but I couldn't get him to answer. Today is the second day of emails, calls, and voice mails, including talking to Jake (another warranty specialist) to get Jeff to call me. Still nothing. When I did my research and purchased the transmission, I thought I would receive a high-quality product that I would have no issues with, but even before I received it, problems began. This transmission has cost me several thousands of dollars, lost deposits on family trips, and currently on the verge of making me go bankrupt. At this point, I feel I should not have to pay for a single thing, no shipping costs, labor (network or non), parts, or anything. ATS needs to make this right. read more

Spent $10,000 on tranny, TC, turbo, airbags, PAC brake, and a few other things. Tranny and TC will not shift properly. PAC brake does not work. Constant problems. Shoddy workmanship, I've had to fix a lot myself. haven't even got 10k miles. I have been back to ATS and they are rude and don't want to honor their warranty. They are not honest. I am very disappointed that I used them and will never go there again. I hope my review prevents you from going through the ATS hell that I have gone through. Find another shop!!!!! read more

Buyer beware. I originally took my 6.0 to their shop to have the heads fire ringed. Jeff quoted an amazing price on the phone (same as Ford's cost to just replace the gasket). After confirming the price twice over the phone, I drove my truck 600 miles to their shop. Dropped it off and confirmed the price once again with both Jeff and Dalton. Two weeks later their quoted price had doubled! Dalton claimed that Jeff didn't know what he was quoting and they would work with me to get the price down (5% reduction offered). After they started tearing down the truck, they noticed that something had entered cylinder 8, pitted the piston and completely destroyed the valves and combustion chamber. They also claimed the the block deck had been excessively ground and the block was trashed. After receiving exorbitant quotes to have the engine replaced. Dalton agreed to throw it back together so i could get rid of it. Due to the damage to the valves/firing chamber over cylinder 8, he said the head would have to be replaced on that side. When i went to pick up the vehicle, I was then given a run-around about having to sign a waiver (which took an hour for them to print) and told the heads were re-decked-NOT REPLACED. Dalton had previously said the heads were within spec and the block was not (None of these measurements were provided when requested). They had failed to replace the head that was "damaged beyond repair," and then charged more for their "machine work" to my heads than it would have cost to buy a new head. Since arguing got me nowhere with Dalton, i paid for the truck and attempted to leave. Upon inspecting the truck, the air filter was not connected, the coolant was low, and as soon as i fired it up the check engine light came on. ATS had broken one of my glow plugs and tried saying it was broken when it came in. They did however eventually end up replacing the plug for free. Based on my experiences with ATS, and their ever changing stories each time I asked a technical question, I'm no longer even sure there was any damage done to my engine. I would highly recommend any other shop for ANY diesel work you need done. ATS knew they could take advantage of me due to my distance from their shop, and they succeeded. Truck was down for over a year before they refused to replace the 3rd unit to fail within a month of install. Their customer service was awful, employees are rude and clueless. I had a custom motor with a supercharger and they built and tuned the tranny (and closely coordinated with my engine tuner) to give me a first class system on my Jeep. All my dealings with them ( including a warranty issue) was professional and thorough and included followup to make sure everything was working right. Any one who says ATS is even good either works for them or is related to them they have the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I have had 5 Transmissions by them none have lasted longer then 10k miles and three have lasted less then 1k miles. Mind you I have there top rated trans and my truck is way under the rated power. They never return phone calls and are hard to get ahold of. I'm in the Military and have had times where I cant contact them for weeks and they never finish things that were talked about because they don't care. When they do talk to you they never take any notes so they can change plans and times as they wish. Plus they make you pay to ship trans both ways plus install even when there trans is faulty. This company is a joke I would spend my money somewhere that actually cares about its customers. read more

Never Again! Sorry for the lengthy review, but worth the read. ATS has been working on my 2006 Dodge Ram for several years now, and I've always had great service from them. So good that I had recommended their service to others, but no more. Last year ATS replaced the transmission in my Ram with one of their rebuilds. I was torn between putting a lot of money into this vehicle or just buying a new one. I informed one of the service people (Mike) that I depended on this vehicle as I towed a very large 5th Wheel back and forth from Texas each summer. Mike assured me that this was the way to go, even suggesting that I go with the more beefy transmission since my 5th Wheel weighed so much (13,000 lbs). I was a bit skeptical since one of the employees I spoke with, indicated they were having turnover issues with employees (this was a clue I should have paid attention too). Anyway, after $5500 I had my new transmission, and that's when the problems began. Within 2 months while coming up one of the Colorado mountain passes the truck started bucking and slamming into gears. I limped it to the top of the pass, traveling 20mph. My transmission overheating light came on and I was stranded on top. I spoke with ATS, they told me to allow the truck to cool down and get it into them when possible. After paying another $300 they felt the problem was corrected. Two months later, while traveling back to Texas pulling the RV, we started experiencing the same issues with the truck. Contacting ATS again, they informed us to take it into one of their recommended shops in the area since we were unable to get it back to them. This shop thought they found the problem. ATS sent out a part, and we were on our way AGAIN after paying another $950. This year we began our trip back to Colorado, pulling the RV and AGAIN, the truck started doing the same thing. We ended up being stranded in Lubbock, TX. We took the truck into the shop in Lubbock who ran a diagnostic, found the same problem and contacted ATS. While this shop was speaking with ATS, we listened, as Jeff with ATS showed no remorse for our current situation. His recommendation was to drive the truck to ATS from Lubbock with the check engine light on and get it to them so they could assess the problem. After almost $7500 later, we decided enough was enough, no more dealings with ATS. During this fiasco year, I've heard from 2 mechanics from different shops and 1 salesperson that the ATS transmissions are terrible, nothing but problems. STAY AWAY! Customer service is horrible! Mechanics are horrible!. I Purchased a new tranny for my Cummins, I traveled from NM to CO for the install and it only took about a day to install, which was quick! BUT....after getting a call saying my truck was finished I showed up, returned my rental car, paid ($6200) and started my truck to leave. My check engine light was on right away. Turns out they installed a faulty part in the trans... took 2 hours to diagnose and fix while I waited in the lobby...after it was finished I went to leave a 2nd time, this time my gear shift cable was so sloppy I had to jam my gear selector into park just to take my key out....after another hour of waiting I was finally ready to drive 6 hours home. once home I noticed a pretty bad leak coming from the trans, not to mention a bunch of trans oil underneath the truck from driving 6 hours straight home....after multiple phone calls to Randy and Rob at the shop nobody bothered to call back, I then contacted the manager, Mike who said to take it to a shop of my choice and have them repair the leak and he will reimburse me. 280 dollars later my tranny seems to be working fine....guess ill wait and see if this company actually gives me my money back. All in all, do yourself a favor and avoid this place and the hassle. I'm assuming this will only be the start of my problems with this place. read more

The transmission lasted less than 400 miles before going out and needing a total rebuild. Their tech also stripped out 6 pan bolts. They would not stand behind their diagnosis or repair. They only agreed to pay for labor and parts to repair the stripped pan bolts. They would not even pay for the fluid that would be lost to do the repair. Purchased a transmission from ATS and had them install it. Install was quick but the workmanship proved to be shifty. Once I picked up my truck after the transmission was installed there was noticeable leak. I brought my truck back, it was repaired and once again I found it leaking after driving it home. I took my truck back to ATS once again and they did more corrections. I was promised by Matt Hernadez that it was fixed and no longer leaking, however that was not the case once I got home. I have bought a few turbos through these guys in the past and no problems a I called to get another turbo for a customers truck I was working on. They said it would be 4 weeks to get a turbo because they didn't have it in stock. I then called 4 weeks later they said the same thing and told me I had to be put on a list to get one. My problem with that is if you are one of the biggest diesel performance parts suppliers and distributors why is there no product. Not to mention the people on the phone are less than helpful either not getting back to me or responding weeks later. There work is so bad, and horrible, and they cheat u out of the money with shitty trans builds.. I spent $6500 on a supposed top of the line transmission 5R110W. Only to have had this trans go down not once but twice. And now I have had the manager Mike Meinecke said the all the parts were new in transmission. Worst service. Worst place I've ever been. Won't offer anything to fix any problems you have during your visit. They do nice truck work but other then that if something bad happens during your visit They won't solve the problem. They just apologize. Waited 5 hours to test our truck on the dynometer, however our truck tires were too big. No one told us they had to be a specific size. We wasted 5 hours for our $85 back and an apology. We were humiliated in front of 100s of people and they had no concern or care for anything that had happened. Won't be back. read more

3 weeks for a coolant flush and a new block heater to be installed is just unbelievable! 3 ridiculous weeks! Not once when they were called, did they ever call back. On 2 separate occasions they said the truck is done, only to go in to find out they're still ordering the block heater!! A huge diesel shop cannot get a block heater delivered from a dealership that day?!?!?! Are you kidding?! Should have just purchased one and brought it in with the truck.. Customer service is garbage. Actual garbage delivers better service that these idiots. A warning for all who need something fairly quick done, NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER take your truck here.
