After calling 10 places, I either got no responses or delayed ones that ended up quoting what seemed to be an excessive amount for what was involved plus having to schedule the job for a later time. ATR exceeded my expectations! We needed to bring our staircase railings up to code. Our rail and balusters are iron and the balusters were too far apart for today's code. I called a couple of local metalwork companies for quotes. Lee replied to my initial email quickly and let me know what his availability was. We scheduled an appointment for a visit so he could give us a quote. In that visit, he explained the work they would do and what was needed to bring our railing up to code. He sent the quote via email that same day. His quote was a little less than the other metalwork company and he based it on a visit rather than the pictures we sent. The day he and his co-worker came to remove the railings, they removed them quickly and cleanly. They anticipated having it ready to re-install by the end of the next day. I got an email that evening letting me know the work was done and they could re-install the railings the next morning if I was available. The re-install was quick, clean, and perfect. The actual metalwork is beautiful. It was a simple job and a simple railing. In order to bring it up to code, they needed to remove all the balusters to move them closer together and to add in some extras at the end. The balcony rail was an inch too short and the gap at the bottom was too large so each rail needed to be replaced with longer ones. After the work was done they repainted the entire set. I've included a couple of pictures. On top of the work being perfect and quick, they were friendly, polite, Lee explained everything, answered questions, and his price was fair. We used ATR Welding to fabricate new railings and to modify/modernize a couple of existing railings to match the new ones. Lee was very detailed oriented, responsive, and easy to work with. We had a design in mind and he offered advice and guidance to come up with a final railing design that we were very happy with, and the pricing was fair. During our consultation, everyone was wearing masks so I felt safe working with them during the pandemic. He and his crew did a phenomenal job of modifying our existing railings by removing scroll details and adding horizontal bars. The new modifications matched the existing shape and curvature of the railings perfectly--the railings look as if newly fabricated from scratch. They also did a fantastic job with the fabrication of the new custom railings. They finished the modifications and installation in one day. They would text me when they would arrive and were super personable. Also, in the end he walked through the job and made sure we were happy. Fantastic work done by ATR to fix our HOA's rusty stair posts! As small HOA, we had difficulty finding a company that: 1) was willing to accept such a small order (16 units) AND 2) had the expertise to perform the job correctly. I backed into our locked iron gate and bent the iron pin that held one half of the gate in place when it was closed and locked. I didn't plan for this accident to happen, so of course it was inconvenient that we couldn't move our vehicles in or out of our secured driveway, we had not budgeted for emergency repairs in this month's budget, and I had to make it to a 6pm appointment. These factors all helped make this unexpected problem so stressful! And then of course, the biggest question was "Who you gonna call?" (Sorry for the GhostBusters reference!) If you are reading this review, then you have already found the answer! Call Lee at ATR Welding! You are not going to find a fairer price OR better customer service and personal attention to your problem. Lee was a 5 star professional from start to finish, and you can tell that customer service is a huge priority for him. I called big companies I had heard of before, I called small companies that didn't answer their phone. And I sent the same photos of the problem to every company so they could all see what needed to be repaired. First company game me a flat rate quote of $350, the told me they could see what the problem was, and it would take approximately 30 minutes?? I asked for confirmation, "You are saying you can see and understand what needs to be repaired, you know it will take your guy 30 minutes, and you are asking me to pay $350?? "Yes, he explained, the problem is a very easy fix," he told me, "but to drive out truck and welding supplies to your residence tonight or tomorrow would make the price that high. Wow! The 2nd estimate I got was from a company so big I wasn't even talking to a person who does the repairs, and she could not conceptualize how the problem would be fixed. She told me it would cost $60 to send a technician to my door, then their hourly rate was $120 per hour. I asked for clarification: "So I pay $180 for the first hour and $120 for each additional hour. Can you estimate how long it could take?" Her answer was, "No, the first hour is $120 plus the service call. It could be 2 hours (minimum $300) or 8 hours ($1020) WOW!! And by the way, she was not the least bit polite, interested in helping me, and didn't seem to care at all if I chose their company or not. I had the distinct impression that answering the phone, reviewing my photos, and quoting me a price was an annoying interruption to her day. Just then, Lee returned my call. He was polite, he understood I was driving and headed to a meeting. He offered to send me his email address and contact info so I send him the pics, and he could look at my problem and try to help us out. It was already almost 6pm and he made the point of offering to come later the same evening, if needed. He followed through with his contact info so I was able to send him my photos before my meeting. I called him an hour later and he was fully prepared. He gave me a price, he asked for 2 measurements. The width of the iron pin, and the length of it. He came out the next morning, he had the replacement piece pre-made and got right to work fixing our fence. He went the extra mile! He made the stake longer so we didn't have to bed over to reach it, he painted everything to match our finish and prevent rust or corrosion, and he was an excellent communicator. read more

I needed a company to fix a metal gate for a driveway which broke and fell. I called several local companies and chose ATR Welding for the project. They definitely deserve 5 stars for a great job, and here's the criteria I judged them on: 1. Communication - they understood that I needed to get this fixed ASAP and were able to go to the property same day and draft a quote. I liked how Lee clearly explained what needs to be done and how they plan to fix it. They continued to maintain good communication throughout. 2. Quality of work - the quality of work by Lee and Cesar was excellent. They scheduled the work to be done as soon as possible, and showed up early to get started before there was traffic on the property (this was a gate to a property with 3 businesses on a busy road so there was a lot of cars coming and going). I've contracted a different welder in the past to do an almost identical job on the adjacent property and I must admit, ATR's quality of work was much better. 3. Price - the price was fair. Not saying ATR is expensive, but I've had similar work done cheaper in the past and the result was lower quality. Honestly, you get what you pay for. I had an in-progress project where the original contractor was unable to complete the work after 3 months of delays and I was left with partially fabricated I-beams sitting at a shop in Oakland.
