After a long hike, I really needed a refreshing snack and the dole whip at atomic cow creamery was exactly what I wanted. My boyfriend got the cookies and cream mondo shake and that was delicious. He shared it with me and the cookies and cream flavor was honestly some of the best. It came smothered in whipped cream as well and came with a huge ice cream sandwich too! The ice cream sandwich was possibly the best part since it contained creamy vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two soft chocolate cookies. Good Sandwich Lunch Spot!! If you're in town and have a hankering for a sandwich this is the place. Lots of options to choose from, I recommend you walk in and look at the menu then go with your gut. We ordered the Rueben and it was great!! The fries were good too, our friend ordered another sandwich that was bomb. We've only recently discovered Atomic Cow since it moved to its great new location and we are instant fans. We'll try the ice cream as it gets warmer outside, but for now we've had burgers, fries and their really good potato salad. The Pastrami Burger is a wow! Love the cute tiki theme decor. Got a Pastrami Rueben with fries and a shake for a good price. The Rueben was large and can feed 2 adults for lunch. The bread was toasted well with a lot of pastrami and good amount of sauerkraut. The fries were hit and crispy and well seasoned. The vanilla caramel shake was one of the better ones we have tasted. Well worth the 20 minute wait. That's what we were looking for at lunchtime as we traveled the highway through town. I got the cold turkey avocado deli sandwich on sourdough bread. I was pleasantly surprised at how hearty this sandwich turned out to be. It was literally loaded with turkey, bacon crumbles, avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard. It was so big, I couldn't even get a whole bite in my mouth! Enjoyed every morsel as I worked my way through it. My husband got the hot Italian hero sandwich. Cool, fresh mountain air. ICE CREAM Disney lovers will appreciate that they offer Dole Whip and Dole Whip floats here. Soft serve too! We were there for the kiddos. But our kids are better than I am - they share. So the littlest one had "SUPER HERO." I love that kid more than anything, but the "cotton candy" vibes just weren't my thing. The other kid had her heart set on MINT CHIP. That's more like it! After all, everyone refers to her as mini Jenni. Two kiddie-sized scoops served in cups was under $5! Great sandwich and ice cream shop. We ordered a veggie burger and a roast beef sub. Both were delicious and generously proportioned for the price. Service was a little slow but nothing crazy, we were content to wait. It does get a little loud and packed in there as the space isn't very large, so be aware that you might not get a seat inside. Finished our meal off with their mocha flavor. Very good with fudge and walnut as mix ins. Hoped to try the date flavor but wasn't available at the time we ordered. Atomic Cow has recently moved and has an awesome expanded menu! The cashier was very welcoming and the chef/cook was excellent. From the second we stepped into this place it was slammed! So busy and it made us so happy to see a family owned and operated (I think) spot doing so well on the middle of the week. The inside is decorated with fun posters and tiki-esque. We had these food items: Flaming Hot Italian, the pilgrim, the Ross and a kids burger with fries...and a pickle! Everything was absolutely delicious and the amount of food for the price was well worth it. This place is a great addition to Idyllwild and we happily recommend it. The family and I had walked around town and found ourselves hungry. We were looking for something quick and near and came across Atomic Cow. I was a little skeptical considering they are known for their ice cream but still decided to try out their food. We were amazed. We ordered, the Reuben ( pastrami sandwich), BLT on sourdough, and grilled cheese. Probably the best pastrami I've had in a while, up there or better than the hat. You can't go wrong with grilled cheese but places still manage to mess it up. Kids said the grilled cheese was on point. The only sandwich that was not up there on the wow factor was the BLT and not due to the meat but the bread. In hindsight my wife wishes she would have asked them to toast it or tried the sub version. Honestly thought their food was better than the brewery. My hubby and I decided to go on a motorcycle ride for the last day of Summer. Truthfully, I thought it was the first day of Autumn, that's why I insisted on going to Idyllwild. We had lunch and then thought it would be nice to get a pumpkin spice chai latte at the coffee shop. But, we saw something we haven't seen before, the Atomic Cow! We walked over and my husband said they have pumpkin spice milkshakes! Well !! Say no more! As I was ordering the milkshake my eyes fell on huge cookies, Chocolate chip walnut cookies. I had to try it! So I shared with the hubby. Awesome cookie!! It was thick and delicious. And then I took a spoonful of the shake....it was really thick that I needed a spoon....I thought I died and gone to pumpkin spice heaven!! It was the best pumpkin spice shake EVER!!! We even had chunks of pie crust in it. I looked at their sandwich posters they had outside, there was a Pastrami Rueben, if we hadn't had lunch already I would've loved trying that. She works onsite with her son and they were super hospitable, passionate about what they're doing, and committed to their craft. I judge a ice cream place but simply how their vanilla ice cream taste. This place gets it right. The vanilla is delicious and does not have an artificial taste to it like other places. Big scoops is always nice. The staff is also very friendly, it is a small shop so there are only a few customers allowed inside at a time.
