Family tradition requires that we visit here every time we are in Idyllwild. Neither rain nor sleet nor storm can keep us away. Yes, even the mountain's Winter snow is not a deterrent. This candy store is a throwback to younger, sweeter days when we all thought we were so funny. We would quote,"Over the teeth, through the gums, look out stomach, here it comes!" Then we'd stuff so much junk in our mouth we'd look like a bunch of chipmunks, and giggle so hard it would all fly out. Oh! You say you didn't do that? So, this teeny tiny shoppe that might accommodate 4-5 customers at best is a treasure trove of modern and vintage candies. But the best things there, IMHO, are their ice cream bars. Custom ordered, your handy dandy, highly skilled, ice cream barista starts with a huge preformed, naked ice cream bar on a popsicle stick. You choose from a list of goodies for dipping and rolling. Mine is always vanilla ice cream, a double dip of dark chocolate that almost instantly freezes as it comes in contact with the liquid chocolate, and a crowning jewel, thick crust of chopped, toasted almonds. Every inch is covered. I guarantee this will make your eyes pop out of their sockets. First bite and the hardened chocolate shatters. The shards of chocolate and almonds are thankfully rescued by the paper boat that the popsicle stick is inserted into. And I confess, I am so greedy, I always forget to take a picture first. We wouldn't want it to melt, now would we? Make sure you grab a spoon to scarf down every delectable bite. And don't forget the napkins! It's annoying, but you must take it outside to eat, or you will get squished by the people in line behind you. Good luck. You're welcome.

I visited this cute candy store that sold hand-dipped ice cream bars 15 years ago and I was beyond happy to find that it's still here, and STILL selling hand-dipped ice cream bars! The quality was exactly how I remembered it. I love how this little town stayed unchanged in over a decade. It felt great to be able to rely on small town charm and relive my sweet memory of this place. I got the vanilla ice cream bar dipped in semi-sweet chocolate. The ice cream bar was overed 1/2 with ground espresso, and Oreo crumbles and 1/2 with salted pretzels and peanut butter. The mixture of crunch and velvety cream were sublime. The combined flavors of salty, bitter and sweet all worked beautifully together without any flavor over powering one another. I was one happy girl! My friend got the shaved ice with guava, mango and tajin. It was the perfect blend of sweetness, savory, acidy and spiciness! No small town visit is complete without a taste of local flavors. That's how fond memories are made. Come here and make your own memories.

My friend had recommended this place when we were visiting idyllwild for a night and it was the perfect treat post-hike. The vanilla ice cream bar dipped in chocolate reminded me of those old fashioned candy stores with the hand-dipped ice cream and it was absolutely delicious. They were also so clever to put a drip catcher under the ice cream bar to be able to enjoy the ice cream bar with no mess! My boyfriend got the shaved ice with blue raspberry syrup and it was the most refreshing thing we could've asked for!! They also had a display case full of delicious looking chocolates as well as candy of all different types.

This place is always great. We love to hike around Idyllwild and the kids love to stop by Candy Cupboard o the way home. They have a great selection of packaged candy but the best choice is the house made chocolate. The peanut butter cups are amazing. The hand dipped ice cream bars are delicious. Candy apples are COVERED in a thick layer of creamy caramel. Staff is always friendly. Shop is small and popular which would be the only the negative thing I can think of. Not an issue though. Willing to wait for the quality if needed.

Get the mango gummy bears! They are soft and oh so good. I also got the gummy cherries and regular gummy bears but they were a bit to hard for my liking. It is a cute little shop though with lots of chocolate goodies, shaved ice and ice cream bars that are dipped in chocolate and topping of your choosing.

Fun find that helped me perk my son up after a long drive up the winding route on Hwy 74 (hope that was the correct hwy). Filled with nostalgic candy and treats. It's a small shop but carries a diverse and ample array of sweets. Minus the boxes the clerk was sorting, I got to check out their candy counter. Even returned later to indulge in their old fashioned hand-dipped ice cream bar to remind me of the ones I used to have when I was a kid. For such a fun shop, custimer service could use a pick-me-up, just a suggestion. Both visits this afternoon, no one greets me ever. First girl that helped us this morning was not the friendliest I've encountered. She seemed preoccupied sorting boxes and inventory or stocking. I get it. She didn't even give me a bag for my 4 items I bought and couldn't give me directions to the nature center which turned out to be half a mile up the road. Maybe she was new to Idyllwild. When I returned later, I indulged with their hand-dipped ice cream bar and the second cashier seemed a little nicer. Customer service should definitely include service with a smile, especially when one works in a sweetshop, right?

Licorice pipes, Slap Stix, Fudge, Crocodile gummies are just a few of the sweet novelties you can buy here. This place is small but stuffed with sweets. They specialize in home made fudge, truffles, chocolate dipped items, retro candy, and apples. Ice cream seemed to be what everyone was ordering, Must stop if your have kids that have been well behaved on the trip :) Very friendly staff.

This place looks cool and is cool until you're rung up! A bit pricey, but a great experience in a great location. I popped in with a sweet tooth during the harvest festival and purchased 2 milk chocolate caramel cashew cluster which made me feel merry for nearly $7...ouch. It's a little small and tight when busy, but it's a candy store...if you're not getting anything, well, get out lol. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. They definitely add a nice touch to the town...I felt like a star on an episode of little house on the prairie. If it wasn't so cold I would have gotten one of their specialty hand dipped ice cream bars. Check it out...they have something for you. This I am sure :)

Anytime we make a day trip up to Idyllwild, this place is always a definite favorite. Summer in the mountains with ice cream dripping down your hands. The good old days when you were younger but now it's in a cup...lol... Messy and sticky fingers hits differently these days when you're older. Saturday afternoon and there was a line at this place. Good for them and thats usually a good sign whenever you go somewhere. We've been a few times and each has been great. It's a little ice cream shop along the main strip of town. Their downtown area where all the restaurants, shops, wineries and so on. Always a line when we come but it does move fast. The menus on the front counter wall so you can check it out before you get to the front. After you order, there's a pager that's given to you. Pick up is around the side when your pager goes off. It's not a big ice cream parlor, with 2 small tables and chair in-front of the ordering counter and a couple of bigger tables on the side of the building. We went with the sampler tray I believe it's called. Four different flavors in individual cups for 12.00. It was a little wait as it seemed like there was only one worker on deck. She was taking orders and scooping the ice cream. The other person could be on break or lunch. Anyways, it was ok. The four flavors were quite nice but one was just ok. Our least favorite, the coconut which was an additional 1.00 added to the order. The others three was excellent. Of course I would forget the all the flavors but remember the one we didn't like. Ice cream was great, the one we enjoyed. It was nice to just have a seat and enjoy the treat. Everyone that was there was doing the same, enjoying their treats. It's like a staple here in the mountain. I didn't know if there's any other ice cream shop in town but this one is worth it and alway a must for us when in town. Until next time.

Once remedied, they proceeded to go above and beyond to treat our family of 4 and really show us that the issue was a fluke and to earn back our good graces. It was incredibly refreshing to see how they handled this issue, and their response was all voluntary, I only showed them the issue and they went all out to make it right. The food was amazing, the ice cream is some of the best I've had, highly recommend chocolate and cookies and cream, daughter loved the root beer float.
