There was only one person working the entire time we were at the Atomic Cow. Matthew was incredibly positive and friendly with us and everyone that we overheard him interact with. We only had to wait about 6-8 minutes for our food which is amazing considering he was working alone and even had an order to complete before ours! Matthew not only got our food out quickly, but it was also absolutely incredible. We ordered a Double and a Single burger w/ fries. The burger was so juicy and flavorful and was the perfect size. The fries were crispy, fluffy, and very well-seasoned. We were also a big fan of the interior of the restaurant. The flavor was awesome, and it was perfectly cooked. They had a unique white cheddar they put on and it was best of all actually affordable... in addition the French fries were great. Really no complaints. The only complaint is wish we would've tried the ice cream. The service was easy as you just walk up to a counter inside and order. Went to the Atomic Cow because we heard people talking at the local coffee shop that it's good. It's basically a sandwich shop with ice cream and shakes. We ordered the pastrami and turkey sandwich and it was average at best. The whole order did take awhile to receive. At least the people at the counter noticed and they gave us a complementary bag of chips. The sundae was also pretty standard. The staff were pleasant. Been here several times and this is slowly becoming my favorite burger place. The burgers are cooked perfect and have that nice flavorful sear on the outside, and perfect internal texture. The Holy Cow fries are served on a Smokey, peppery cheese sauce, and are easily an Animal Style fry killer. Everything is cooked to order, so it can take a bit of time, but the food is well worth the wait, and everyone working there has been awesome. I'd call Atomic a pretty iconic dessert shop of the little town of Idyllwild. Atomic Cow has the cutest cow on a sign in the street showing the way to the shop, so there was no way we couldn't get ice cream. This shop was a short walk from the camp site I was at down the road and the perfect relief to a hot summer day. The shop itself is a tight squeeze, especially for how packed it got. Now, this isn't any artisanal ice cream, but it's still solid. One pretty scoop of ice cream here is only $4, which is a steal compared to the other creameries I've gone to in h the city. I stuck with a classic Cookies and Cream, and the ice cream was just as rich and Oreos soft as I expected. Definitely scratched my itch for dessert. I wish they had more flavors, but they do have an extensive menu including a variety of sundaes and even sandwiches. There are a couple of other ice cream and dessert shops around the area, but Atomic Cow is probably the beefiest of them all! read more

This place has some of the best ice cream I've ever had. I had a double scoop, one flavor rocky road the other mint chip, and I had to come back for more the next day. The chocolate was so rich and creamy, and the mint chip had the perfect mint/chocolate ratio. The lady at the counter was so nice and friendly, both days she greeted us with a smile on her face even though her shift must have been long and busy (most of the flavors had sold out for the day). The ambiance is also very unique for the area. Where everything is mostly woodland/natural themed because of the wooded mountains, Atomic Cow has a very authentic Hawaiian theme, all the way down to the snacks they stock. I got the Smokey Bear Burger and chili fries and my wife The Atomic Burger, cookie, and ice cream. As a local, don't get me wrong the food is amazing. The main downside is the customer service. The register people usually are slacking on their work and just talking and goofing around rather than getting cooked food out more quickly. I waited 30 minutes for my food and people who had ordered after me had already received their food. Upon questioning about my food, turns out it was already done and getting cold in the back. If it were a one time occasion then no problem but it has been more than 3 times concerning the same guy on the register. He's nice to customers but is terrible at getting the job done and it's really unfortunate. I just hope the customer service gets better, I'd hate to stop going to my favorite place in town :/ read more

Frustrated, I just asked for all of our money back. There are other places nearby. They only gave me the money for the onion rings since the sandwiches were already made.
