This afternoon around 2 p.m. I was at Atomic Cafe grabbing a coffee. It was pouring out. As I stood there in line getting a coffee, I witnessed a cashier as well as a manager verbally assault four paying customers. Never in my life have I been so mortified. Four ladies were having lunch enjoying their coffees and cupcakes. I noticed all of them had food from Atomic Cafe and it appeared that two of them had food from another restaurant up the street. The manager came out and basically said they should not be eating food from another restaurant at Atomic Cafe. I could clearly see all women had coffees in front of them as well as pastries from Atomic Cafe. All of a sudden I noticed that everybody was staring at them. A scene was being created. Next thing you know a cashier comes over to the table and verbal assaults them. I have never seen anything like that in my life! When the ladies got up from the seats to leave I'm sure in a state of embarrassment, the cashier continued to berate them and said "bye losers". Shame on you Atomic Cafe. You've definitely lost a paying customer here. I'm incredibly disappointed in the lack of dignity, respect and compassion for the four women sitting trying to enjoy their coffee and lunch. The situation could have been handled professionally and in such a different manner where you could have gotten your point across in a positive manner. I am sure those four woman will never be back to Atomic Cafe! And nor will I. read more

I have to start by saying, this poor review does NOT include the coffee. Their coffee is actually really delicious... The food, however, was less than desirable. And that's giving it more than it deserves. We ordered a grilled cheese, we got 2 pieces of crunchy ciabatta bread with about a pound of cold goat cheese in it. I'm not a picky individual, but goat cheese is definitely a strong flavor and shouldn't be used in that quantity. It's also a little confusing on the menu, seems they give you an option between the three, not include all three (beware)! I took one bite and threw it away, disappointing. The place overall has a great vibe and many choices on the menu. Everything is made to order which is refreshing since good coffee shops are hard to come by. However, I placed an order for a blt and there were other people who ordered after me that got their food first. There was even someone who ordered the same thing and got theirs first. The turkey panini was as good as I remembered it being when they first opened 10 or so years ago. Tangy mustard, great bread and their somewhat signature cukes in the sandwich hit the spot. The raspberry Italian soda was expertly created and oh so refreshing. The rest of the place could have used some brightening up. The decor and paint were showing their age. Came here today with some friends from Beverly. On our way in they were greeted by numerous other Beverly-ans/Gordon College Alum. Beverly is strange in that it seems everyone knows one another. Anywho, I got a chai charger- or chai with a shot of espresso. I'm accustomed to my normal Tazo Chai, this was a very spicy chai. It took a little getting used to, but it was a tasty drink. My two comrades got Mochas, which where espresso, steamed milk, cocoa and whipped cream. They looked very good and did not stick around long. I saw some soups and paninis but did not partake. Overall, I'd say it is a cute little cafe and a nice alternative to Corporation Coffee. So give it a whirl. Disclaimer- I may need to reassess once I've tried their foodstuffs. read more

I would highly recommend coming here, especially for the sandwiches. They are really well made and fresh; all coming with pickle and chips. For the price you are really getting a value. The service is always great. I've yet to have a server who hasn't been on point. It's a great place to have a relaxing meal with friends, or even a cup of coffee alone. In Beverly for a week and found this place on Google. Upon walking in you can feel the cool vibe here. Ambiance is very nice with lots of outlets for mobile charging. I had the chai with an espresso shot, good stuff. Give this place a try if you're in town. read more

New Year, New Location, New Review! At first, I was staunchly opposed to this new location across the street from their previous home. This new place was too big. The menu was changed. The layout was different, and therefore all wrong. Yuck. Terrible. There goes the neighborhood. However, after continuing to visit nearly every day for my caffeine infusion, I must admit that my impression of the new setup has warmed significantly. There's much more seating, the food is better, there are more coffee options, and there is, of course, beer now. You've won, Atomic Café. As my Uncle John always says, this place is the bee's knees. Spectacular coffee and fantastic sandwiches served by friendly folks, with ample seating inside and parking in the street or just around the corner. The new Atomic is a beautifully designed space which makes it a desirable place for a meet up or getting some work done while sitting in a comfy booth. The sandwiches are decent and they have a broad menu so there's like something for everyone (including beer and wine, which is nice to have available). Very disappointing cortado experience. Espresso clearly overextracted and shot pulled straight into gibraltar, resulting in a very gritty texture. Milk temperature was way too high for this classic beverage and overaerated (see photo). read more

We were driving through & stopped for breakfast. I like an online ordering platform. We often drink the coffee which has a modern style and creative look & taste so assumed food would be the same. It was not. I think they only use a microwave. Got a breakfast bowl was cold mixed greens tomatoes & cucumber with an over cooked egg & microwave sausage. Definitely not what I pictured like you know a warm wilted bowl of veggies with fresh avacado & at least salt & pepper which I would recommend doing .. my boyfriend got avacado toast which was just a spread on maybe some Market Basket multigrain bread. Also I asked the woman to use the rest room for my son & she said no because of Covid which reminded me of Covid rules about 1 year ago however things have begun to change & this place should make the changes like the rest of the world has begun to or they will continue to lose business. Also it was Mother's Day so thanks for doing me a solid favor & recommending the gas station.. . Blah would not recommend even though prices are reasonable.. splurge for something better or stop at Dunkin' Donuts. read more

I am fairly new to Beverly and I have loved my visits to Atomic. It's such a relaxing atmosphere with just enough background noise to get some work done while I have a tasty salad or wrap for lunch. Really good sandwiches here, everything is made fresh. It's pretty busy on he weekends here, so you do have to wait about 10 min. For your food. My favorite is TURKEY PANINI. I recently stopped by Atomic for the first time in a while. Their new location is very nice and large, although I do miss the cozy feel of the last location. The new location is connected to a bookstore which enhances the study vibe. Atomic serves your typical variety of caffeinated drinks and all of the ones I've tried have been great. The chai here is more flavorful with more spices than chai's I've had elsewhere. I am not a coffee addict but my mom is and she LOVES the coffee there. She even uses their beans to make her coffee at home. There are a variety of beer both on tap and in bottles. I usually don't get food here but the food I have tried here has always been good. I could not disagree with Josie and Alicia more. I have spent a lot of time at the Atomic - latest time there was several hours last night. I have always been treated with the UTMOST kindness. Every person that has ever waited on me has been engaging and has gone out of their way to make my experience pleasant. I often get into conversations with the staff, and they always take an interest in what I am there working on. I also have asked for "special" sandwiches before, and they have made whatever I wanted. As for not having an ATM or knowing where one is - why is it their fault that you don't have cash? Further, I am very picky about where I eat, and I see no problem with the place being "dirty" - I have not noticed any "dirt" or trash. The surfaces are always clean, the food preparation area always tidy and looking sanitary and I have never received any cup, saucer, plate, fork, spoon or otherwise with so much as a water spot. The pastry case is always shiny and clean, and the staff is well kept, if artsy. My ONLY complaint is that they close too early. I wish they were open much later for those people who would rather hang out at a coffee shop than a bar. Honestly, if you guys want Starbucks - just go there. read more

I don't go there very often, but when i do, i always get a really nice strong cup of tea. the sandwiches are good and i love the multigrain bread. never had i had a negative experience except when i have to wait in line for a really long time because i have gone when it is packed (usually around noon). i don't think this place is dirty at all...it just has an old look about it. i like the fact that they have rules about wi-fi and cell phone usage because frankly i get annoyed when people are talking on the phone when i am trying to either enjoy a meeting with a friend or enjoy my lunch. it is rude. keep your cell phone off when you're at a restaurant/cafe. that is probably one of the things i hate most. i'll keep going to the Atomic whenever i get the urge to. read more

I had to go to Beverly downtown and grab something and I wanted an ice coffee. I only purchase organic, fair trade so I googled and found this place. I went in and ordered a small ice coffee. It came out to 3.50. Really? A large is 4.50. Thats insane! Total rip off. I always go to this Organic, Fair Trade shop in danvers & a large ice coffee is 3.00 & good size. I will never go here again, I bought it & should of said forget it. Im really upset now but its my fault. I dont suppoet local businesses that over charge people. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Beverly. It's small, but there's always a place to sit. They make the best panini sandiwches and smoothies. The decor is really retro and cute. It's located in an college town full of artsy students, so there's plenty of local flavor. They also play really cool music like The Postal Service in the background and the people who work there seem laid back and cool. read more

the mochas are good, but i got a salad once and they left out 2 of the 5 ingredients, and they were pretty key ingredients. it was the spring mix salad (greens, almonds, dried cranberries, goat cheese, dressing) and they didn't give me the goat cheese or the dressing. i'm not a huge dressing person but when your salad is greens, nuts, and dried cranberries, you need something. if i had eaten there i'd have obviously asked for the rest of my salad, but i'd picked it up and brought it back to work. also, it took forever for them to make. it took forever to put nuts and dried fruit on top of green shit. it always smells like coffee roasting outside, but they're next to a tanning place (a really good one, too, if you're an idiot who likes risking their life for a tan like i am) so it makes me think i'm smelling burning people. oh, and i don't look all super-indie-cool-college-student so i feel like i get dirty looks. god forbid i fuck up their scenery with my umass amherst hoodie (UH-OH!!!!!!!) or my flare leg jeans. this shit is pretentious. so yeah, good coffee and teas. the hummus special sandwich is good, too. i just feel like i stick out like a non-hip sore thumb in this place, and they seem to not care enough to completely and accurately fill my order.
