Atomic is my favorite place to go and study when I have a while. There have been many times that I have gone, grabbed an espresso and sat by the window watching the relaxing flow of the town pass by while sipping my coffee. I also love how they roast it all there, not only is it amazing coffee, but it is also being used in cafès in downtown Boston! Also,they have great, coffee-loving staff. The food and coffee here are wonderful! The place gets pretty packed though so we try to go during off hours. The turkey brie sandwich is my personal favorite and when I feel like cutting carbs, I get it on a wheat wrap (which you can do with any of the sandwiches). My husband loves the turkey panini. Popped in for a quick chai latte for the road. They have an eclectic segmented indoor seating area, that on this summer day was open to the outdoors. Atomic appears to be a chain. They also seem to serve quite a bit of food items here, including some salads that came up while I was waiting for my latte. Nothing special for me, but then I ordered a drink that in most places comes out of the container and right into the hot milk. How can that get screwed up or made special? I don't know. read more

Cucumber deluxe sandwich, all day every day.

I've gone to this location for months, and will no longer spend any money here. The service is RUDE. The drinks are almost never made right, the 442 and mocha chai taste like nothing but pure milk most of the time. The coffee is sour most of the time and improperly brewed. I don't think I've ever encountered a more unfriendly wait staff. They clearly hate being there and taking customers orders, not sure why some of the employees work there, god forbid they have to do anything other than stand around and chat. read more

I love Atomic! They have yummy food and reasonable prices. I don't love their coffee, but I do love the chai, and it tastes good with a shot of espresso! I love the panini sandwiches, which come with chips and a pickle! They have some yummy baked goods and pretty good breakfast sandwiches too! The Cucumber Cooler and Cucumber Deluxe are great! Great Coffee! can you say Latte! Been going there since it opened! I have not Been since last Christmas.....used to go at least 3x a week. my one wish they would clean the bathroom better and dining areas better and give it a fresh coat of paint and some sticky vinyl tiles. I took some out town guests and the bathroom turned them off. I am just used to it after all these years. Now that I have. Children who climb under table and on the floor I am more aware of the grime. read more

Great lattes made with high quality fresh beans and Richardsons milk plus creative latte art . They are the BEST and most EXPENSIVE lattes around. You can also get coffee beans here to brew at home they are priced all around $10 which is great. Cleanliness and hygiene is not too prevalent here . As for service it is fast and friendly yet little aloof and with an occasional attitude. A fresh coat of paint and a good scrubbing would not hurt as the dust and grime is visable . The small bathroom though is not the cleanest and best smelling small little closet. The retro and artsy feel is what makes Atomic unique. This cafe is a great addition to the North Shore being the only coffee roaster and maker of real lattes . read more

It's...fine. The cranberry chicken salad tastes suspiciously like the stuff Costco sells, and the layout is cluttered, chaotic, and really needs a cleaning, but it's fine. OK prices, OK coffee. You will, unfortunately, leave reeking of the grill. read more

I've been going to Atomic for a few years now -- it really is some of the best coffee around. They roast their own coffee in the front of the store, and always have a good selection. I haven't found anything better on the north shore. I think most of the other reviews are pretty fair. There baked goods are OK, but nothing to write home about (go next door if you want a croissant). The place could use a "fresh coat of paint" maybe. But then again -- it does have that coffee shop vibe which you just don't find at some of the overly sterile chains. Most of the staff are very friendly, but there are a few guys who could use some happy pills. Other good things about the place: free wifi, the have a few little tables outside (weather permitting), the art they put on their fancy lattes is impressive, cool art on the wall which changes frequently, and parking usually isn't too bad. read more

For a time I would go in and buy at least 2 drinks and often food. I don't buy a drink and sit there for hours, if I am there awhile I spend money and keep buying things because I am not a mooch. I actually can't stand the people who only get a small coffee and sit somewhere for 4 hours, don't be cheap... One of the last times I was there (this was a few months back) it was around noon and they were busy, I had been sitting for about 25 minutes and was just done with the sandwich. Some huffy (I might have a house by the ocean type) woman came in with her daughters and ordered food and then realized there was no seating, started to make it obvious that someone should be getting up soon and was saying things under her breathe. The employees asked me and another woman at a different table if we could please be on our way because it is lunch and they are busy so you can't sit around. So basically I felt like I was at a local roast beef joint and that it was chew and screw. I am sorry but too bad for the lady who is too stupid to see she isn't going to get a seat. She should have got it to go, don't have a regular customer get up and move because some woman is being a -itch I have been back occasionally to get a coffee to go but never attempted to sit in there again. I will say they have great sandwiches and drinks at Atomic! No doubt they do. I just never really had a great experience with the employees. read more

Oh, Atomic. I've been coming here since the first week it opened (when John and his brother were still making the drinks) and I have loved it ever since. It's the perfect neighborhood place to grab a coffee, panini or smoothie (among other things). Now it's a hot spot for the local college kids and young family transplants in town, and a mainstay on Cabot Street. It's recently moved to a new location across the street from their old spot, and it's really stepped up their game. Everything is great: their drinks, food and ambiance. They're big supporters of the local art scene, so be on the look-out for the ever-changing pieces on display. Slap on your hipster best for this cafe in Bev - it was my favorite place to go when I was studying design at Endicott and I revisited the Cafe this Winter *I'm still in love* *SMALL (maybe six tables, three booths, and four spots at the bar). Kind of 50s-ish and you can usually spot a few art students there grabbing a cuppa (students from Endicott and Montserrat). Today's tunes while I dine: Iron and Wine. Grab a Boston Pheonix to read while you're drinking up your cuppa cafe. *Lunch line forms TRES VITE! As in, if you step out of line to look at the menu, by the time you've decided and turned back around four new customers have appeared. *GREAT spot for coffee. And not just for the Atomic's own coffee (which IS delicious), their Hot Cocoa is sweet and creaaamy. NOTE: *resist the temptation to get a face-full of whipped cream! If you pass on the whip then you will receive a giant mug with a swirly design mapped out in cocoa and froth (what a delightful surprise). *MOCHA CHAI is the best I've found: I got my order iced and now wish I could find more coffee shops in Metro West that offered this menu star item! The normally seasoned-spicy chair blend was calmed by creamy mocha flavors. The drink was smooth and satisfying (and it lasted me a surprisingly long time). *Ever have a sandwich that was so good that even after you had passed you "this should be my last bite" mark you keeeeeept eating?....the Atomic's menu is like that. II used to ONLY order their grilled cheese (panini-style.....phenom), but today I was feeling sassy and ordered up the Cucumber Deluxe Pressed Sandwich (cucumber, honey mustard, sprouts, cheese....all pressed and heated and incredibly good). I was pleasantly surprised by this sandwich (no longer am I perplexed as to why a cucumber sandwich is one of the Cafe's most popular orders). There are places that serve sandwiches, then there's the Atomic (why, Atomic...why are you on the NORTH SHORE?!). And yes, if I were craving the Cucumber press and Mocha Chai - I would be 100% willing to drive 35miles (one-way) to wait in line for it. This place is the best coffee shop on the North Shore. It's one of the biggest things I miss about living in Beverly, but I'm still driving 20 minutes from where I live now just to enjoy Atomic. The coffee is always excellent, and their espresso drinks are made with consummate skill. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, serving up the drinks and food with relative speed. Having lunch here is also a treat. Not the cheapest sandwiches around, but I've never been disappointed. The ambience has a pleasant artsy/retro feel. I began my love affair with Atomic in 1998, shortly after it opened. I was in high school, and knew nothing of concepts such as "Chai tea" and "Paninis." Yet. The affair continues to this day, when I'm lucky enough to have free time visiting my hometown, or join a friend for lunch in Bevtown during a holiday weekend. I enjoy their selection of indy sodas, and they have great coffees, etc. My favorite thing to order there, though, is the Honey Ham Delight Panini. I've been ordering it for years. A hefty portion of both Muenster Cheese and Ham, and tomato, lettuce and dijon mustard make this sandwich just fabulous. Atomic offers outdoor seating in the warmer weather, and a great view of the hipsters from Montserrat College of Art working there, relaxing, smoking, or simply walking by. read more

Stopped on the way home from the beach looking for a quick lunch. Ordered two wraps and a yogurt cup. Took 30 minutes to even get the food to go, and after that amount of time they got the entire order wrong. Ended up with one salad, a wrap, and a half empty yogurt cup. The salad had about 9 pieces of lettuce and two pieces of chicken, wrap was not even wrapped up just folded in half. This all cost $25.00, very disappointing and will not be making a trip back here. read more

My dad and I went here yesterday and it was a nice little place. The food, the soup, and the tea were pretty good. But there wasn't anything here particularly memorable. The service was polite but not particularly friendly and I really was not a fan of the music. I'm very into music and so it's important to me to have good stuff playing although I know everyone has different tastes in these things. This place is legit. As a Beverly resident, I'm proud to have this coffee shop in my town. John (the owner) is an awesome guy and has done an incredible job here. Their new location is amazing, with plenty of room. Their coffees are truly some of the best I've had, but what sealed the deal for me is the cold brew. They have cold brewed coffee on nitro!!!! They pour it out of a tap and it looks like a Guinness, with a frothy head and all. I love these guys! read more

I stopped in on Saturday to pick up a pound of their coffee so I could enjoy that Atomic taste at home! I've always had only the best experiences here when ordering coffee or food, but I was worried about asking for the beans to be ground. I don't have a grinder at home and it was a fairly busy (and rainy!) Saturday. I should have known- It was not a hassle at all! My coffee was quickly and cheerfully ground and returned to me with a smile. The food is top notch, the service is top notch, and I love that they have the best decaf ever! read more
