You sit around a bar that wraps around where the chefs serve you. The hand rolls are top-notch very fresh, flavorful, and consistently delicious. My wife and I always go for the "Select 5 Rolls" deal, and honestly, it doesn't matter which rolls we pick. They're all amazing. We've been here multiple times, and we've never been disappointed. I've been to Kazunori and Tekka, and this place comes really close to these spots. The quality of fish was on par to the places I've been to but wished the crab was a bit creamier. We got the 4 set which you were able to pick what handrolls you wanted for $22 and that was filling. I think what'll elevate this spot is having some signature sauces for their hand rolls. Service felt really personable and our server and chef were willing to strike conversations. The place is really nice and decorated for the season. We learned that they opened up a month ago! Monday dinner 5:30 togo order. Came home to find my 6 hand rolls were not the ones i ordered. They at least gave me a store credit, wasn't going to drive back... I also got the Sushi sampler, soon as i open the container, i smelled super fishy smell. It was the scallop sushi. Saw an ad on IG for their special menu which sounded like a great deal so we went to check it out! We almost didn't see the restaurant at first bc the sign was pretty simple and it was located in a random strip mall, parking was easy though! We got seated immediately and had the menu explained to us. Right now they're running a special where you can choose any 5 hand rolls, miso soup, edamame, and a side of yuzu sauce for $26! It's an amazing deal compared to other hand roll spots. The rolls came out quickly and timed really well. The servers were really attentive and would check in frequently and make small talk. Overall I'd say i like the handrolls here better than Rol because they're really generous with the filling. Definitely was full by the 5th roll. Since they recently opened they also do sake tastings and demos and other specials so i highly recommend checking this spot out if you're craving some sushi or hand rolls. read more

This place is a hidden gem and definitely worth the try if you're looking for a hand roll spot. They have assorted sets so you don't really need to choose, but you can also pick out your favorites and I recommend the ATO special Tuna, Hokkaido Yuzu Scallop and the Truffle Salmon. They don't just serve hand rolls either. They have a mix of cooked and raw dishes like yellowtail carpaccio, spicy tuna chips and they even have cooked skewers that are seared with a torch. The skewers are very tender and not too charred. The staff was very nice and informative on different types of hand rolls and what they recommend. They even roll them right in front of you. This restaurant is located in a small strip mall, but when you're inside, it feels like you're in a modern sushi bar. It's a great spot for date night or a quick bite. And the seaweed wrap has very good roasted taste and crunchy. They made sure to serve the hand roll one by one to ensure the seaweed doesn't go soft. Very good service and inside is pretty cozy. Also tried their yakitori, it's OK but the sauce they used is similar to all of the skewers, so made it doesn't taste that much of the difference. Hope it would have some variation. Came in on Sunday for lunch. There was only two other parties seated in the restaurant. So tasty and filling, I only managed to grab a photo of the dessert. Date and I got the 5 piece, beef tartare, house yuzu sauce, and yuzu sorbet. Price is pretty on par with most hand rolls places, give or take a few dollars less in the higher roll tiers. I love the diversity of the handroll set offerings. I feel like it does a really good job at highlighting the staples and giving diversity. Highly recommend getting the yuzu kosho sauce. Their version is sweeter and less bitter than most place. The portion is also generous. I mix mine with soy sauce to dilute the intensity, so it's doable to share between another person. Also, please get the beef tartare. Ours was missing the asian pear as I've seen in other reviews, but the flavors were still amazing. The sugar paired with sesame oil(?) was super fragrant and well balanced with the texture of the beef. Yuzu sorbet afterwards was so refreshing. They also have a yuzu sauce paired with it and it was a great addition. This is worth getting your own portion. *my only small ding is in service. They were a tad slow on giving us our yuzu sauce. We were a almost 2 rolls in before we had to ask for the sauce. That should've been given out immediately after placing our orders. read more

Amazing! I visited Ato with a friend when they were still new and had just opened. We wanted a simple dinner and thought hand rolls would be a good fix. They had sets of 5 hand rolls for $26 which was very reasonable and their quality was great. If there were any substitutions you wanted to make, they would do it for you. Nice little hand roll spot in Fullerton with a nice comforting interior, they only have a handful of seats which makes it feel more exclusive but we still sat with no problem. We got the 6 piece set with spicy garlic edamame, yellowtail carpaccio and the beef tartare I loved every single bite, the yuzu sauce I could take home, it has a nice honeyed sweet and spicy! Perfect with all the hand rolls and especially the Eel hand roll. The staff was so welcoming and friendly, we went on a sprinkling early afternoon and got the best experience. June the manager explained the hand roll portion process, the yummy sauces and what's to come in the next month. Loved their presentation and fish quality. The bar itself is a classic Japanese roll bar, very muted tones and chic ambiance, a great place to catch up with friends. We are definitely looking forward to coming back soon. First time trying it as they just opened a little over a week ago. ATO took the place of Chicken University. As you walk in, there's about 12 seats. The ambience and decorations are simple and nice. The wait staff was friendly. It wasn't very busy and hopefully things will pick up for this small place. The menu is pretty straight forward and you order directly with the server. The hand rolls are made to order and appetizers were all good and deserving of 4/5 stars. The only reason why I'm rating it 4 stars is their hand rolls menu is limited in comparison to places like ROL and other hand roll bars. Maybe they'll expand their menu. As for the highlights, their beef tartare was really good. It's served with small chunks of Asian pears and was really refreshing. Another perk is they provide real wasabi. Walked in sushi chef ignored us never said hi. Asked to explain what was on the menu and gave a very vague explaination as if like i should know whats in his menu. Then half way through the meal he and other sushi chef leaves there position and disappears never show him again. Spent 170 dollars for 3 people and left hungry. We came right at open on a Saturday and were seated right away. By the time we left the entire bar was full minus the seats we occupied. Our chef Yuna was phenomenal, she was so kind and talked to us while she made our rolls. The pace was perfect, not too fast and not too slow. For drinks we got the melon soda and yuzu lemonade, the melon soda is on the sweeter side while the yuzu lemonade is nice and tart. We ordered the beef tartare, yellowtail carpaccio, miso soup, and spicy tuna chips for appetizers and WOW! The spicy tuna chips is a must order. They have a variety of set options but we went for the 5 piece set for $26 which is a great price. My favorite of the rolls was the ato special tuna, hokkaido scallop, and the blue crab. went here the other day for a friends birthday, it was a party of 7 so we took up majority of the bar space, and were the only ones in the restaurant. the owner and the employees are extremely soft spoken. regardless of this, they were each super kind and generous. towards the end of our meal, they served us some hamachi-kama on the house, which was delicious and they should definitely add to the menu. the ambiance was cool, calm, and classy. a fun place to take friends or go on a date. the food was okay. 7/10. the fish in the handrolls are minced, so it was pretty mushy imo, and i didn't particularly enjoy that. however the portions are great! in comparison to ROL by kei concepts, ATO hooks it up with the protein. so for that reason, i'd come back. more bang for ur buck. the seaweed salad was typical, not bad, but not to die for. just something to pick on in between hand rolls. i wish they offered sunomono (cucumber) salad. the skewers, however, were a game changer in my experience of handrolls bars. The selection included ato special tuna, salmon, jalapeno yellowtail, blue crab, and Hokkaido scallop. We also added a spicy tuna with crispy chips and a momo (chicken thigh) skewer. Our favorite was the ato special tuna - so much flavor packed into one bite and truffle salmon.
