The prices aren't bad, especially since you can only get there by going through security first -- the ultimate captive audience. The atmosphere is determined by the location, but that's the way it is. The bar stools have backs, so it's better than waiting next to the gate if you are an early freak who fears long lines more than long waits. The American Trans Air employees even walk around and beg people to board their flight when it's time. I wouldn't expect that of Northwest.

Not enough chairs for the weary travelers, but I digress…read more The service here was subpar. Not because it was busy, but because the employees didnt know the name of the beers, let alone what theyre doing. I watched numerous people wait at tables, get frustrated and go when they werent served. I decided to cut my losses and just stand at the bar, the service was a tad better, but I still wasnt even remotely good. I asked for a Cherry Wheat and had to point to the tap a few times before she got it. Ummm......it says "Cherry Wheat" right on the tap..... The only reason this place is getting 3 stars is because of the beer. I mean, how can you go wrong w/ a Boston Lager, Cherry Wheat, Nobel Pils, or Summer Ale? Its much much better than the beer they offer at any other place in the airport. Quick tip: Save yourself the trouble and wait of ordering food here. Theyre just going to call your order over the the deli thats, literally, 5 stops across the aisle.

The Crowne Plaza front desk gave me a 15% OFF coupon at check-in too. The Sparkle Sangria was very good, and I ordered a second. I ordered the Maryland Blue Crab Dip and Wedge Salad. The toasted baguette wedges were a nice accompaniment to the hot dip. But the dip was unexciting and bland. It took so long for the salad to come out, I was about to tell them to forget about it. The bacon on the wedge salad was a bit undercooked. Maybe this is me -- but part of the appeal of Wedge Salad is slicing into the crispy lettuce wedge. PST serves there's already sliced. The service as a little slip-shod but friendly. If I stay at the Crowne Plaza Crystal City again, I might stop in for a drink-- but would skip dinner.

When you come to your table, you scan the QR code and order from their menu. They have a variety of dishes on their breakfast and lunch/dinner menu. All of them come out in small plates. We came during breakfast but right as they switched over to lunch, so we got to try from both menus. Overall, the food was a 10/10! I think I actually liked the breakfast food more - mainly the quiche and belgian waffles with bacon. The lunch food was still pretty good too. We also got alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks that were yummy! The service was great!! The food came out within 10-15 min of ordering and there was plenty of staff serving, cleaning up dishes and pouring champagne. We actually had an accident where a glass of champagne fell and spilled everywhere, but the staff responded right away and helped clean our table and also our belongings. Will for sure be coming again in future travels!

I would say this one has more table service and feels more like a restaurant. I did accidentally got ignored by one of the lady serving cold apps at the counter. I was standing for a while since someone else was being served at the time, but she didn't come back to me after helping that person out. I had to grab her attention again. Perhaps this accident could've been avoided if there was a clear path for lines. The table services were amazing though. They were able to help make one of the coffee to go because we had to run for our flight and couldn't finish it on time.

Dear reader, The…read moreCenturion Lounge at DCA is a very civilised way to begin a trip and, in my view, one of the more enjoyable airport lounges to spend time in. A number of recent reviews praise the lounge for its attractive design, comfortable seating, strong food and drink program, and thoughtful amenities, and that all feels quite fair. It is in Terminal 2 near the south security checkpoint, and the lounge's own materials describe it as a spacious, elegant place to relax, refresh, and have a cocktail before a flight. What I especially love are the wellness shots, the coffee machines, and the open bar. Those little wellness shots feel like the sort of optimistic airport decision one ought to make before boarding, and the coffee setup is genuinely excellent if one needs to become a person again before takeoff. The bar is also a very strong point in its favour. American Express highlights its curated cocktail, wine, and non-alcoholic drink selection, and that polish absolutely comes through. Everyone is also very nice, which makes a difference. Add in the comfortable atmosphere and the feeling that you can actually pause for a moment before flying, and it all makes for a thoroughly pleasant pre-flight ritual. A proper little oasis at DCA.

The lounges that I've been to have been because of travel companions. The Amex Lounge was no different! My sweet friend booked breakfast in Arlington, the Pentagon area that is what he said. When my uber picked me up, the app said I was heading to the Amex Lounge at the airport. I laughed because I thought I was eating at the airport and airport food isn't always the best. I thought our weekend was starting off odd. But I don't complain and go with the flow, so if you like it, I love it. I had my bags because we always do staycations, so with my bag in tow he meets me at the uber upon drop-off and says our dinner reservations are in Florida, hope you don't mind that's why I had you pack your bags. What a surprise. He says we have time to go to the Amex lounge to grab breakfast before we take off. I am speechless, literally speechless. We grab our tickets and head straight to the lounge. Wow! Okay so I've been to the Capital One Lounge and that was great but honestly AMEX is killing it! The food was actually really good! Bar is awesome! Everything was clean! It's newer so it's phenomenal! I've been told I need lounge access for as much as I travel. I immediately got on my phone to search to get the AMEX card, that's how nice this place was. Luckily he asked what I was doing on my phone. I said I need to be able to come here all year long so I'm going to throw the flag in and get a card. He laughed and said it would be easier just to add me to his account. And just like that, I'm a AMEX card holder! The card came in 3 business days. I'll be coming to this airport early! And will be looking forward to traveling this year to visit all the AMEX lounges. Amex is the way to go! Oh and a little life hack, our plan never works. Gods plan does! Grateful.
