I should have known to lower my expectations and suspect something was awry when I noticed the wilted flowers in the foyer. Apparently, the flowers are refreshed on Thursdays, so I just arrived on the wrong day. But there should never be a wrong day to arrive at the Four Seasons! The air in the hotel lobby was hot and stagnant; I was expecting a cool and aromatic experience upon entry, similar to the Intercontinental or the Sonesta. I tried to ignore the decaying flowers because I was greeted warmly by the doormen and the front desk. I was surprised that I had to ask for slippers as I presumed those, mouthwash, and other toiletries would already be in the room. None of those items were in my room. Shockingly, the robe in my room was dirty! Housekeeping apologized and replaced it within 15 minutes. I was also surprised by how rough the towels were as I am used to Frette and linens of that ilk. This is also supposed to be a resort & spa hotel but it did not feel that way at all. I was also surprised by the brand of soaps and hair products they use here: they smelled like clay. The lotion left a gritty feel on the skin. The products were French (called Codage): Je n'aime pas ça. I went to the gym and was surprised they did not have bar pads for the barbells. If the Portland Harbor Hotel can offer pads for the gym equipment, the Four Seasons can too! In fact, I'm surprised they did not have weightlifting gloves. I was happy to see the orange-infused water and the scented & pre-moistened cold compress clothes. That was nice. The pool was closed for the season, so I could not do that. There was a complimentary sound bath session that I could not partake in since I did not order my room directly with the hotel. I'm not that thirsty for a sound bath but I was hoping to take a regular bath; the hotel does not offer bubble bath. The Portland Harbor Hotel does! I decided to take a shower instead but the faucets are not property calibrated: the hot water is cold & the cold water is hot. Then I tried to rest but I kept hearing doors slam at night and more slamming in the morning. I just assumed it was other guests (since there was a convention this week), but when I went to check-out, I noticed the hotel staff slam a door to a room that only hotel staff have access to near the elevators, you can hear the slams at each end of the hotel corridor. This hotel needs to invest in sound mitigation. I was really hoping for a far better stay as I was contemplating a work retreat here. This was my first experience at a Four Seasons property and it was shockingly disappointing. Baltimore deserves better. This felt more like 2 & half Seasons.

One of our party is allergic to cats, and had no significant trouble from cat dander. (However, pollen was plentiful in the region, so be aware of environmental problems.) My favorite part of the inn was the screened back porch, providing sunshine, fresh air, and plenty of bird watching opportunities with three separate feeders around the porch. They know their personality and their moods and it's like a second home to our dogs whenever we board them! The daily report cards are always beautiful action shots of our dogs, and I can tell they're in great spirits whenever they're playing. The staff is always helpful when it comes to drop offs and pick ups giving us the grace and space needed to get them through the door without accidental run ins and they always keep us up to date with what they need from us in regard to their shots/immunizations. Recently in March we boarded the dogs and after 4 years finally got them groomed before coming home! They were both so soft and clean and they even had their nails trimmed! Happy Tails, thank you for caring for our dogs and proving peace of mind while we're away from them. Thank you for helping us ease Quentin back into socializing, I couldn't thank you more.

I am very disappointed with our stay recently at this "pet resort". The manager in the ad states…read morethat there are purified air, music piped in and orthopedic dog beds provided to each guest. The website states that there are terf play areas. That is simply not true - none of it. We recently used Happy Tails as a last minute place (our usual dog sitter had to cancel last minute). The communication was not great at all. There was miscommunication about what updates I should be getting (we ended up with 3 over a 10 day stay). I called at least 3 times and it went to voicemail. I left messages and nobody called me back. I only got updates when I called and asked for them. I talked to 3 different people and got 3 different answers as to what kind of updates I should be getting. The only updates we ever got were 2/3 pictures on a "report card". Nothing about her well being or demeanor. When I picked her up she was FILTHY (it would've been another $50 - $70 to get a bath upon pick up). The amount of dirt I washed off of her was disgusting. She had open sores on ALL of her legs from what I assume were pressure sores from laying on the hard cots (not the orthopedic dog beds as the manager states). One of the sores was actively bleeding. A few of her toenails were split. When I questioned what happened they seemed shocked and took pictures and told me they would investigate and call me back by the end of the day.... 3 days later, still waiting to hear. She was exhausted....like wouldn't even open her eyes (and she's a 2.5 year old ACTIVE dog). I understand that its stressful and can be tiring, but she slept from noon until the next morning. For what we paid for our 10 day stay (super expensive) compared to the treatment we received we will never return to this place. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Ever. We will be going another place next time we need someone to take care of our furry family member.

The breakfast here is great Warren puts great care into everyone's preferences whether vegetarian, vegan, or you just don't like bananas or melons like me. My girlfriend and I found sleep afloat via AIR B&B and ended up renting their houseboat in fells point for a weekend. As far as booking the room, it was easy. I called their agent in Baltimore, and he answered immediately. Mine was a last minute booking (2 hrs before arrival). I asked them if they could do any better on the price and they were able to knock 200$ off the Air B&B listed price. I met with their local contact Dominick, who was friendly and receptive. He gave me the keys and after a quick review of the boats systems he was on his way. Our boat featured a queen sized bed that was super comfortable. It also featured central air, and a nicely equipped kitchen. There were a total of 4 boats available for rent- in varying levels of luxury and size. The boat was clean, and the location was nice. Because of where the harbor is situated there were not very many waves at all. The only downside to the whole experience was the 175$ cleaning fee that is automatically assessed after each stay. Overall, not a killer deal by any means, but definitely a cool-unique experience.
