We had a major issue with our boat several weeks ago on a Saturday at 6:00PM and we were at the Bay Bridge.

I would not recommend buying a boat from this place. I went to look at a boat for sale that is…read moreadvertised in EXCELLENT condition. We spent time on the phone discussing the boat before we made the 2 hour trip to look at it in person. Upon arriving and inspecting the boat for ourselves, we noticed among some smaller things that the standing rigging wasn't tuned, the running rigging was non-existent, and the engine that was supposed to be new needed work, however they did put some new superficial flooring in and fix the centerboard during their time of ownership. There was/is some sort of good cop/bad cop routine between Jake and his dad. Jake went to the office while myself and my seven year old daughter stayed at the boat to look it over. At this point his dad showed up with four men standing behind him to question who we were and why we were on his boat. After explaining he was the owner and telling us all the work that had been done he explained how much more work was necessary and that he was willing to do the work and sell us all the things at "his cost". How generous!? Again the boat is advertised in EXCELLENT condition. At this time Jake came back and I had a few questions about some large cracks and paint repair in the fiberglass hull along the transom (it looks as if the whole transom was crashed into. Major cracks and soft spots where the rudder connects to the hull). As soon as I asked a few questions, his demeanor changed and he began berating me on my knowledge of boats and buying them. He began using "salty" language and talking down to us. He explained that if you buy a used boat you are buying "someone else's problems". He said "what did you expect for a $10,000 boat?" His words, not ours. At this point we decided the boat and Jakes problems were not for us. After showing pictures of the hull to some boating friends we were advised that the boat is probably not even sea worthy. Unprofessional, rude, not worthy of my business. Buyer beware. Don't let your hopes and dreams sink at the Fairview Marina!!!

I really wanted to give a five-star review for the renovated bathhouse at the marina. The…read morebathrooms are now fully functioning with freshly tiled floors and showers, added stalls and a lovely counter space sink area. Unfortunately, I wish I could have the same enthusiasm for the security here. I mean, there is none. This is the third time I have reported theft from my sailboat at this marina. This time someone stole expensive supplies from West Marine right out of my hatch. This means they literally boarded my boat and stole my property. The last time, someone stole my power. That's right! Hooked up a power cord to my slip outlet and rigged my electricity to their boat. I didn't even realize until I received my BGE bill and was shocked. The last incident revealed a culprit, but this most recent theft took the wind out of my sails. To report theft for a third time to the boat yard manager to just be told to report it to the police??? That's not good business. There's a thief in the boatyard and I'm stuck in this game of Clue. Arrgh, matey.

Looking for quick access to the Bay? Looking for a nice breeze? Looking for a mom and pop place to do your work and tie up your boat? Looking for decent prices? Looking for interesting people to chat with? Then this quite possibly is your kinda of place. The piers are not floating but generally there is not much of a tide. If you have a large keel you would need to be further out because there can be a depth issue closer to land. Brian the owner is a wealth of information! This is across from the former Beth Steel site but now is much quieter and much easier to breath. Give it a try!!!!

This place is pretty garbage for several reasons. Where shall I begin?…read more 1. How long has this creek in general but unsuitable for swimming? I won't knock the marina for this one but it's the first reason to steer clear. 2. 15.00 dollars to launch is ridiculous. 3. The ramp itself is not steep enough. I have an SUV and had to back in farther than I'm comfortable with to launch an 18 foot bass boat. I end up having to push the boat off because I don't want my backseat to get flooded. (okay its not quite that bad but you will back in well over you exhaust pipe.) 4. Trying to drive your boat up on to the trailer is difficult here. There are lots of old wood pilings in the water and the dock in general is in the way. I use the trolling motor mostly to trailer and then wench it up. 5. No one is ever at the building. Instead they make you fill out this form and slide the money in the door. Basically just collecting your money for doing nothing. 6. Pulling out of the marina is on a steep hill. If you don't have momentum going up your going to spin your tires. The problem is there is a steep curve and its hard to see cars coming so you almost have to stop at the top. 7. overall just avoid this place if you can.
