Atmosphere clean and open. Large bar. Plenty of parking. Clean bathrooms Friendly service. Fresh Seafood$$$

Cornbread, pancake, bacon and eggs, steak and eggs.

Good food, nice atmosphere, and Brittany K was friendly and funny! Steak was perfectly cooked.

Clam chowder
Heather P.

Food was good. Clam chowder was tasty with chunks of clam and potatoes. My husband had the French onion and while it was good he said he missed the caramelized onions they have in other restaurants. We had the lobster mac and cheese bites and they were also quite good. The sauce made the bites even tastier. We finished it off with a scallop and bacon pizza which was cheesy, bacony and had some very tender scallops on it. Can't believe we ate it all! My pineapple bomb was tasty and the classic mojito, while heavy on the mint, was refreshing as well. Overall a delightful meal.

What a yummy find! Everything our group ordered was delicious. I am still blown away by the portion sizes- no one will leave this table still hungry. A very cozy spot and for a bigger group the service was quite timely. Would definitely return here!

Nachos
Lynn R.

Stopped here for a quick lunch. The place was busy but we didn't wait long. The ambiance is seafood everywhere and I assume they are known for that. We tried the loaded nachos for an app. This was piled high with cheese and chili. It was tasty and satisfying and plenty for a meal itself. We also tried the BLT chicken salad sandwich which sounded so good but the chicken salad reminded me of the type you get from the deli at the grocery store that was prepackaged. I would have like this to look and taste more like homemade chicken salad. The coleslaw was really tasty and the fries cooked well.

Scallop Caesar Salad

Around 11:45am, while visiting my brother on a Coast Guard security detail, we settled on Atlantic Grill. They serve breakfast until 2pm daily (we went on a Sunday). The restaurant was about half full; the hostess said it would be about a 10 to 15 min wait for a party of 5. We were still waiting for the other 2 to arrive, so we were fine waiting. The wait ended up being 5 mins. We were tucked in a corner where one half of the table had booth seating & the other had 2 chairs. The atmosphere is nice; lots of surfboards hanging on the walls & other nautical décor. The noise level was moderate. It appeared that other patrons were satisfied with their food & service. Our waitress was quick to take our drink orders & brought them right over. She knew that we were still waiting for the 2 others so it didn't bother us that she didn't ask us what we would like to order. About 15 mins later, they had arrived & again, she was quick to take the drink orders for them. We weren't quite ready to to order so she gave us a bit more time. We placed an order for the Will's Philly Nachos (full) - HUGE portion that the 5 of us couldn't finish! We had a mix of lunch & breakfast ordered. I had the Scallop Caesar salad. I was so full from the nachos I had to take my salad back with me, but I enjoyed the concept & the scallops were cooked well. My brother had the Beach Melt; it was PACKED with tuna! The french fries were pretty good (I stole one)! My mother had the Sam Adams Fish & Chips & she said it was delicious but she couldn't finish it. It was a decently sized piece of fish. The other 2 had breakfast; the pancakes were HUGE & fluffy. It looked like the corned beef hash was made in-house. I felt like when were finished & it was obvious, our waitress seemed to be absent for quite some time. We were all chatting & catching up so that filled the time, but if we had somewhere to be...well, then we might've been impatient, to say the least. Another waitress came by to clear some of our plates, which we appreciated because they were all over the table. I don't visit Newport, RI & it was my first time there, so I can't say I'd go back. However, in the off chance I do visit again, I would return & try some things off of the breakfast menu.

Lobster roll
Kathy K.

I ordered the lobster roll after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures. It was tasty, but fyi- it is not nearly as generous as the ones pictured in the past reviews, which was why I had ordered it in the first place. Service at the bar was friendly.

Omelette with Mushrooms, Swiss and bacon.
Richard C.

Solid food and provides breakfast lunch and dinner. Great Eggs Benedict- with lobster! Delicious omelette with lots of bacon and mushrooms. They don't overcook the omelette like some places. AWSOME! Great Fish and Chips too

Yummy coffee

The staff has been there for years and you see the connection they have with each other and how they are with there guest and regulars. Makes it feel warm relaxing and cozy. I dont know if it was because our Server saw me help a women carry something from infront of there resturant for an older women or if it was just luck. But when we received our bill she had taken off our drinks. She did say there are some questionable people walking the streets but that one women in particular was very nice and it was the lifestyle she wanted and thought it was very nice of me to offer and help. So I guess that was her gratitude and thank you to me. But that is nor here or there. Come in come all and check them out. You will never be disappointed. We were…read morehighly recommended by a wonderful and intelligent young woman to try this spot for Breakfast if we are in Newport! We took her advice and yes this place was quaint, inviting and very busy but it was a holiday in A historic Newport! We waited briefly to sit outdoors in the bright morning sun which was very close to the 12 O'Clock time! We did sit for a long while before being approached even for coffee or welcoming us but we all understood it was busy for 1 to handle maybe 7 tables that were filled! But, at some point I had to get up and go inside to politely say we had been waiting longer than one should expect! A moment or two our waitress came to take our beverage order and then after enjoying our coffee she came to take our Breakfast order, I chose the Holiday Special Omelette, which were two listed! The Shrimp and Prosciutto Omelette with Avocado sounded Amazing so that was my Choice! We all ordered! When it all arrived we took photos of each and they all looked very tasty! Anticipating my breakfast I delved into my Omelette and ate a bite and it was very tasty, took another bite still very tasty.....I paused and wondered " Where is the Shrimp and Prosciutto and Avocado?" I told my family member, I don't see either, we joked she said "maybe it's chopped... ". So, I flagged the waitress and asked her if this is what I ordered and she said, " She made a mistake thinking there were only one Special Omelette and apologized and will have one made immediately! I said Ok, she left and we joked about the Staff and then THE OMELETTE ARRIVED! It was spectacular looking and even better tasting! Unfortunately, my family already finished but it was OK! We sat still enjoying more coffee and then without being aware accidentally spilled coffee on my families slacks but we chose NOT to mention it! It was obviously this Waitress should have had additional help to take care of the outside guests! She was polite and did her best but she was overwhelmed! She brought the Check and she did mention she would remove my Omelette from the Bill as a courtesy for the error! That was acceptable and nice of this Cafe to do that! The Food was Excellent The Location outside was Nice The Service was a comedy of errors! The Day was Still wonderful!

Seafood is on the menu and we started with two stuffies or stuff quahogs and a clam cakes appetizers. Probably too much fried out of the gate but when in Rome... Tasty of course but I think I prefer my bun toasted and the lobster meat in larger pieces rather than chopped up as is the case here. Best was the company catching up with old friends. Also, it was a Wednesday, and Tickets had a "wings for a dollar" deal on Wednesdays. Neither of us wanted a big meal - just a couple of appetizers - so we headed over there. We were told to seat ourselves, which we did. Someone brought us menus, left, and never returned. We sat there for 20 minutes, when I finally went to the bar and asked if we could order. Someone (his name was Mason, and he was very nice) came by and took our orders. We ordered chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, and we each ordered a drink. I had wine, so nothing can really go wrong there. My partner ordered a margarita. He said it was so watered down, he wouldn't recognize it as a margarita at all. He ordered a second drink (rum & coke, I think), and said the same thing. Watery. He said they were the worst drinks he'd ever gotten. The wings were good. The mozzarella sticks were shaped more like mozzarella burgers, but they were tasty with marinara sauce on the side. If we were to return to Newport, we'd try somewhere else. The service and drinks were disappointing.

The ocean view made an already pleasant morning even more enjoyable. As someone who prefers a lighter breakfast, I was thrilled to find avocado toast and several other options that fit exactly what I was looking for. We started with two iced coffees, and I appreciated that they offered almond milk as a dairy-free alternative. I ordered the avocado toast, which is served on a pita rather than traditional bread. Topped with cucumber, tomato, and olives, it was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect light breakfast. My husband ordered an omelet and said it was fantastic. His only suggestion would be a larger portion of the breakfast potatoes, but otherwise he thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The service was quick, accommodating, and very friendly throughout our visit. As noted above we have eaten here in the past. We have dined with large as well as small groups and have always been pleased. The place is beautiful, especially in the summer. The outdoor patio bar boasts a great view of Green End Pond. A great place to grab a drink and an appetizer. We started out on the patio and returned later for dinner. Based on our sub par experience the night before (see prior review) I was committed to having a great meal. We were not disappointed. I started with the clam chowder. Delicious. Flavorful and loaded with clams. My wife opted for the lobster bisque In an effort to negate the lousy lobster bisque she had on the previous night. Mission accomplished. She described it as buttery and creamy. Essentially the perfect bisque flavor. Contained within the bisque was a tremendous chunk of delicious lobster meat . For dinner, I chose the baked stuffed shrimp. It was delicious. Cooked to perfection with delicious stuffing, rice, pilaf, and broccoli. My only complaint is that I believe there should be more than 4 shrimp at this price. My wife selected the Pasta Bolognese. A dish that she has had and several other restaurants in several states and she ranked this right at the top of the list. Plenty of beef and pork combined with a tasty Italian sauce. When in the Newport area I suggest you skip the over hyped restaurants and head to Johnny's for a delicious meal with great atmosphere.

We had to explain that Piccata was a sauce with capers; again, she didn't know what capers were. Fortunately, the kitchen understood the order & my friend received the correct dish. Unfortunately, the ends of the salmon were dry & inedible. However, she did enjoy most of the fish & the sides (mashed & veg), and there was enough to bring home. She also had a cider cocktail which, with the sugared rim, was a little too sweet. She would have liked a bit more cider, too. I had the patty melt with sweet potato fries.
