I just wanted to let y'all know how great the Customer Service is here at this amazing nursery... My son really wanted a mango tree that grows in North County San Diego. They're not easy to find. I asked a friend of mine who has a landscape company and he suggested I try Atkins Nursery. I called and spoke to JUNIOR, telling him that all my son wanted for Christmas were two specialty mango trees ... Ho, ho, Ho! Well, turns out that his father was going to Los Angeles to purchase items in a few days and he would definitely look for those trees. My timing was great! But unfortunately there were none available. However, on his own --- his father went back several days later and found four! Atkins Nursery went WAYYYYY above and beyond what most would do! It was so lovely of JUNIOR and his dad to care so much. So please patronize this wonderful business... You'll be so glad you did!!!!! read more

They sold me a reed avacado tree 24 inch box equivelant in round container. They delivered and planted it. Awesome crew, the tree has 25 cados each the size of a baseball right now. Planted it in may. Very satisfied with this smaller nursery. read more

Picked up a 24" box Reed avocado a few days ago. Tree was delivered and installed by the crew. They called me when they said, they showed up when they said and all I can say is it was cheaper than a few other nurseries I contacted by quite a bit. I routinely go here for my trees and saw a few exotic trees with fruit on them that surprised me. Always my go to nursery. read more

I was looking for rare heirloom avocado varieties and Atkins is one of the only places that sells trees other than hass, fuerte and the usual suspects. Jan Boyce is considered the top tasting avocado in california, while kona sharwil is from hawaii and tastes incredible. They have many more varieties -- Hellen, Nimlioh, Daily 11 (gets up to 5lbs!), Queen and more -- so if you're into exotic fruit trees and want to support keeping heirloom varieties alive, hit up Atkins. Right now, 5 gallon trees are $25, which is great considering how rare these varieties are. They also carry cherimoya, mango, dragon fruit and many other kinds of rare fruit trees. The setting isn't as fancy as some nurseries or garden centers, but you're there for the trees, not the ambiance. And they also sell fruit -- I got 6 delicious Pinkterton avocados for $5. read more

Let me say that this will be my go to nursery moving forward. When looking for different avocado varieties than you can find at the other nurseries this is definitely worth the trip. Called to see what 5 and 15 gallon trees they had. Specifically looking for a Kona Sharwil and Sir Prize in 15 gallons to compliment my Gwen I purchased at a different nursery. Scored on the 5 gallon Reed as well. Cannot be happier with the excellent customer service from on the phone to Junior helping me out when I arrived. Great place for those hard to find exotics. So far I've picked up a Kona Sharwil and Gwen avocado and a black Sapote. If these guys don't have it I'm sure they can get it as a matter of fact I have a Jan Boyce and a Suebelle white sapote on order. Even though Atkins is 50 miles from our house I try to stop by every couple a months some times just to look around. Customer service is fantastic whether it's Pearl or Junior on the phone or Victor and Carlos when we visit the nursery. By the way they also guarantee their trees not too many nurseries do. Nursery is open, best selection and prices for tropical plants. They don't answer the phone very often. Better to call on weekends and later in the day. I bought cherimoya , atemoya and avocado plants from them. They also sell fresh produce from their growing grounds. 5 stars read more

What a great nursery! Wonderful selection, healthy trees and super nice owners. I called all over San Diego trying to find a fingerlime tree and finally found one at Atkins Nursery. They have a wide variety of Avocados, citrus, gorgeous Alba mac nut trees and more! Ill definitely be back for more trees. I came back for more! I called ahead to make sure they had a Reed, Kona Sharwill & Daily 11 before heading out to the nursery. They had them all and both the Queen and Daily 11 are flowering and holding baby fruit already in less than a years time in the ground. Awesome! read more

I was here to get information regarding the dwarf Wurtz avocado, dwarf GWEN avocado, and dwarf Holiday avocado. Although I didn't purchase a avocado tree here because they were out of their dwarf varieties, I was put on a list and told I'd receive a e-mail/call when they came in. read more

Best Nursery for Exotic Avocados or sometimes other fruit trees, came here because Bonita Creek Nursery tried to sell me rare small Avocados for $75 each I got the same here for $25 and they sold me a 7 gallon Mammey sapote for $95 which is an amazing deal compared to every other place where they go for $150+ read more

I bought a 15 gallon avocado tree after three years the tree has not given me fruit I've called them give them my address to come out to look up a tree after five times calling them they have never came out. All the time they told me they would be out from 3 to 4 pm never came out. read more

I want to let anyone know that if you are in the market to find rare varieties of Avocado Trees... you do not have too many options. However, Atkins is absolutely one of the last remaining places to find them. They have a fantastic facility out in Fallbrook and if you want the right tree... drive over there with a truck and pick them out. I read some people's negative reviews and would like to say that this place is known for the quality of their TREES... not the quality of their office manager. Its easy with Atkins... just show up. If you live in Northern CA and need trees... its better to make the journey then to try to have trees shipped. If you bought a tree and are waiting for fruit... chances are you are doing something wrong on your end... this can not be blamed on Atkins. I myself have bought over 20 trees from them and almost every single one of them is doing fine. read more

This is the worst Nursery I have dealt with in 20+ years dealing with nurseries all over the country. I like unique plants so by default I end up contacting nurseries from many locations I called Atkins 3 weeks ago to order two Avocado varieties that were not available in other places. They assured me that these were in stock. The gal I spoke with even connected me to the manager Victor who assured me they have a special way to pack them and they will get to me in great shape in Northern California. I was told the order will ship later in the day and they will call me with the shipping price and order total. I called to follow up late n the day and they said they will ship the next day as soon as they have shipping costs. This was repeated 7 times over a period of 2 weeks. I would love for them to challenge this assertion because I am happy to post my cell phone records showing all the calls to their number. Most times I spoke with "Junior" and each time he assured me the order will ship that day or the next day (depending on which time I called). After 2 weeks of getting the runaround, Junior finally tells me he cannot ship my order. Needless to say, I was furious for all the time I wasted and all the lies I was told. I called and left 3 messages to Victor ("the manager") to file a complaint. Not one call was returned which gives you an idea of how much the whole outfit cares about customer service. Don't waste your time with this lowest of the low nursery. There are a bunch of great nurseries in Fallbrook area and this is definitely not one of them. read more

Drove all the way from Huntington Beach. Well worth it. Best variety of avocado trees I've seen anywhere with the usuals and hard to get types. I bought 5 type B's to go along with my bunch of A's. Staff was very polite and helpful. One employee even held my broken hatchback open while I loaded them in. Good job buddy. read more
