Her son and manager Carlos has an area for rare and unusual succulents to be seen when he is there. Rosa and Carlos run the whole thing and work six days a week except for an hour for lunch. Absolutely a hidden gem in San Diego-area succulent shopping! My wife and I came here on a Sunday afternoon (be sure to call ahead to confirm they are open- this is a family business, so the hours are variable). When we got there, we were greeted by Carlos (the owner's son) who gave us a personal tour of his rarer succulent collection, including some absolutely gorgeous variegated gymnocalycium (one of which we bought for a GREAT price, came with two pups) and the most BEAUTIFUL Haworthia cooperi var. Mountain. We also picked up a euphorbia polygona and euphorbia enolpa which were very healthy and good sized. After that, we went through the many other sections - my personal fav was the one with rows and rows of $1 succulents (small, but awesome variety and very healthy). They also had some beautiful larger specimens, but we're running out of garden space! Will absolutely be back. Highly recommend! read more

After finding Waterwise Botanicals and Green Meadow Growers closed today, I wandered farther north to Rojas Succulents and Cacti. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip. It was my first time at this hidden gem nursery, run by Rosalina and her son Carlos. It's that special type of nursery you would find back in the 1980s but seemed to disappear for the impersonal commercial nurseries. At Rojas you will receive personal customer service and enjoy exploring one green house after another. Go through each green house to ensure you see their wide variety at different stages of maturity. It has a great selection of succulents with soft succulents being my personal favorites. Carlos has expanded into unique echeverias, from places like Korea, which offer very difficult to find echeverias. I was able to purchase everything I needed at this nursery. Without question I have found my new favorite nursery! read more

We arrived here at 2:30pm on 7/3/2023 and were greeted by one of the employees who let us know that he needed to close at 3pm today. We weren't intending to be here that long anyway, and we browsed through greenhouse #3 where they have a pretty good array of 2" pots for $1 each. The soil in all the pots was pretty dry and we saturated the ten pots we bought as soon as we got them home later the same evening. If we had more time, I'm sure we would have found a couple of greenhouses with plants in 6", 1-gallon, and 5-gallon pots because we watched a couple of other customers leave with some. Don't know what kinds of prices they put on those. We might be back earlier in the day some time to check it out -- but it's about 90 miles from home, so I don't know when that will be. read more

This was my 2nd visit to Rojas and although I came with a list of succulents and cacti that I wanted to buy, I ended buying more cacti than succulents. The owner, Mrs. Rojas, was very gracious and took my husband and me to what I call the "treasures" greenhouses where the specialty plants are housed; what a treat that was! I'm so jazzed with the new additions to my small collection! That's when I found Rojas Succulents. Their selection in HUGE and there are so many interesting, brightly colored plants I could walk around the greenhouses for hours. If you want show stopping succulent arrangements, Rosalinda is your go to. My husband and I supplied the containers and Rosalinda filled them with beautiful plants. She only charged us for the plants themselves (granted I tipped her because she very much deserved it)!! We payed way less than we would have if we had gone with florals. Where do I start ? As we entered into the pandemic my husband a concrete mason, found this nursery traveling from work in San Diego to our home in Moreno valley. At the time he was still doing concrete and very tired of his labor intensive job. Rosalinda the owner and caretaker of this beautiful nursery welcomed my husband and nephew in and introduced my husband to her world of beautiful succulents. I was always into plants but I never knew succulents before he found this nursery. She is kind and has taught us alot about caring and nurturing plants. Plants have not only helped us through a time when we feel the world was falling apart it helped with our mental health. And I believe this place was the start of it all. I just wanted to give a good review to this nursery that I visited yesterday (Saturday). It was a drive but all worth it. We had fun ! Me and mom who are both succulent and indoor plant lovers went crazy over there due to the fact that they got awesome prices and different varieties of succulent. They have common ones that are priced $1-$15 depending on the sizes. If you're a fan of old overgrown, mature plants, you're gonna love it there! Chubby plants and healthy roots especially the gasterias and haworthias (my personal bias). They also got some rare ones which are fairly priced. Carlos and his mom, Rosalina were friendly and knowledgeable. Hope i didn't butcher her name. My mom is kind of nosey and likes to ask a lot of questions. She learned a lot from talking and filling her tray with $1 succulents. She liked it there lol. My toddler was kept busy playing the plastic pots and soil but all good. They were very accommodating. I've been to a lot of nurseries but this one by far is my favorite. Me and my mom are planning another trip there and won't be bringing my dad and little bro next time so we can be there at least half a day lol. Anyway, I took some pics of what I bought yesterday. Second visit and I am in love with this place. Hands down the best nursery offering some rare and unique succulents I know of by far. Tom (?) was nice and let us in early despite it being lunch hour. Carlos showed us his rare collection greenhouse again (I was looking for an Aeonium sedifolium), and even helped us identify some of the succulents we were interested in buying. I like that if Carlos is stumped he'll let you know instead of pretending to know - he patiently took out a book and even searched online to help us correctly identify an Aeonium 'Fiesta' and a gasteria. They've converted me into a loyal customer; already have my sights set on some plants I regret not having bought during this second visit. read more

This is a gem, we stopped in on our way up to the OC on a Saturday afternoon. The selection is incredible, tons of rare succulents I've never seen before in beautiful shades of white, blue, teal and purple. The prices were spot on, rivaling the prices I get down at the San Diego swap meet. We'll be stopping every time we come up north, or visit Temecula! The pitbulls barking at us the whole time was a little unsettling, so I hope in future visits they'll maybe have them away from the gate that is right next one of the succulent areas. read more
