What a great nursery! It was worth the drive to Fallbrook to go up the last little bit to the top of the hill and see the wonderful panorama. I picked up my avocado tree (Wurtz) from Florentino, who obviously loves his job and was so friendly and nice. We laughed about the "free rock" he used to stabilize my tree in the back of the van. When you call, you get a lovely person who is warm and friendly and full of information. That's how I found out I would need to go to the growing grounds to get the avocado tree. And I'm really glad that I had to because the trip is so fun. All the trees looked so healthy, organized in even rows. My tree was at least 6 feet. For a 15 gallon that's wonderful and the price was right (around $100). This is the place! Look no further for avocado trees in particular, but they grow other things. read more

Nice and helpful staff. Answered all my questions until I ran out of them. Very courteous and sincere. All of the plants I examined are very lush and healthy. We got 2 blueberry, one mandarin and a peach tree. I could geek out on plants there all day. I'll definitely revisit in January to get a bare root tree. Prices are great as well. We'd probably pay 30 to 40% more at nurseries around me. So, the drive from South East San Diego was well worth it. Once you exit 15 highway the drive gets a lot prettier and scenic. read more

I ordered two trees from this business and our gardener picked it up yesterday. We found one of the tree was infected with had leaf curl disease and bugs crawling on the leaf. I called them and they would not exchange the trees and says they sold us a healthy tree knowingly sold us an infected tree. Stay away from this business. Karen who sold us the tree was was very rude when I contacted her about this issue. read more

I went to their yard in Fallbrook, unfortunately they didn't have what I was looking for there so I was given direction to their growing yard. Though I am no expert, their avocado trees at the growing yard looked much more lush and healthier that other places I've been! And their prices are awesome. I only bought 2 for today, but will definitely go back for more once my planting area is ready! Those looking for GEM, they have plenty ($2.00 extra for patent royalty). All of their people we came across with are very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommended!!! read more

I've been wanting to start a little grove of my own so i've been on the look out for nice plants! Now, I work as an agricultural inspector so i'm familiar with most nurseries in the area and i can say that Maddock had the most prettiest and healthiest saplings i've seen. So that's why i decided to buy my first two avocados from them. I purchased a reed and a sir prize and they have been thriving so far. Plus they are much cheaper than lowes (about 10$) for the same size and of course much healthier. Also the lady at the front was super nice! She was very knowledgeable and helpful. If you haven't been here before, be prepared for an 'experience'... This place was huge, in fact I haven't been on a nursery of that magnitude before. It was a bit overwhelming. I must add though, that I'm not familiar with agricultural nurseries and the amount of land used in a typical operation. San Diego's little inland town of Fallbrook is primarily agricultural and tout themselves as the Avocado Capital of the World. Fallbrook is a town FULL of nurseries and lots of them specialize in exotic fruit, berry, and tree type plants. On this occasion I was there in search of a species of blueberry bush that was genetically hybrid to grow in the SoCal beach climate "Sunshine Blue" -as well as to get information regarding the dwarf Wurtz avocado, dwarf GWEN avocado, and dwarf Holiday avocado. read more

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. I dealt with Karen who always answers the phone and was very patient with me in placing a large order. As I am in Fullerton I had to trust that what she said about sizes and quality of the plants was truthful. Wow - was I impressed. I received my delivery 2 days ago and the plants they brought me would have cost double and been 1/2 the size locally. Not only are they large, but they are stunning. I got 3 24" box avocado that are loaded with fruit, amazing apples, cherry, nectarines and more. If you need blueberry bushes - GO HERE!! They are huge and busting with berries. I cannot say enough good things. Once very nice thing is if they do not have what you want - they will try to get it for you. Call Karen and you will not be disappointed. read more

Bought every variety of blueberry bush they had! Good, full bushes for the price of a tiny, twiggy bare root ones at Armstrong Garden or through mail order. Also bought 4 bare root stone fruit trees that have already started to leaf out with the warm temperatures here in early February. I look forward to buying more trees and blueberry bushes from them. All of the employees are great. It has a relaxed country feeling versus the commercialized big box stores and they truly are a family business. read more

Hidden nursery with over 100 arces of land. they do their own grafting on fruit trees. I missed a this year lots of cherimoya.

We were looking for 15 gallon Avocado trees which are currently hard to find due to significant expansion of local Fallbrook avocado orchards, but Steve Maddock was able to fill my order. Not only was Steve great to work with, but his crew at the growing facility were also very helpful. Worse nursery I've been to. I was browsing the plants and before I knew it a woman (I assume the owner) approached me (Mary, something) and was literally trying to push me into buying any plant or tree I happen to mention I liked. She tried to sell me 200.00 and 300.00 dollar trees and I was only there to look around. I mentioned I liked the Palo Verde trees and what a mistake because she became so pushy I felt suffocated. Anyway she swooned me to the register where I ended up purchasing 2 trees (not Palo Verde) and wouldn't you know it she quickly disappeared. I was very disappointed and won't go back again.
