On the south side of the road, we came across a large yellow sign proclaiming 15 Avocados for $3! Sounded like a bargain, and we had to stop. The avocado's are in the smaller range of mini, but hey... 15 for $3 ain't bad. This guy is smart as well, as it'll be the first one of these produce trucks/stands that you come across, followed by a few more on the way to the casino. Edit: And the avocado's are tasty! =)

I live less than four hours away from the ranch, not sure why it's taking this long to receive one box of merchandise. If it wasn't available I should've received an email saying that when I ordered it advising what I ordered was not available and not that it's been sitting in Escondido ready for shipping since the 18th. It will be interesting to see how my avocados look when they arrive if they've been sitting somewhere for 10 days.

The farm is nestled in very picturesque area of Valley center, surrounded by orchards, other privately owned farms and horse stables. I've heard only great things and was looking forward to visit the farm. U-pick event was very well organized, yes there is a dirt road but you will follow the signs and you won't get lost. Its a family event so tractor rides, petting zoo and a playground are the main attractions besides the strawberries. Family made the trek from OC on a Sunday morning for the 10 am slot. Reservations were easy to make…read morethe night before. I noticed person were able to go in without reservations at the check in counter but maybe that was for slow time slots. Farm offers two sizes but we opted for the large tubs. They tell you how much to fill without over filling aka being charged extra. People were mad filling but I guess it's a gamble. We only stayed for about 45 min but time slots were for 1.5 hours. No shade so be sure to bring a hat and water. Small food truck offering drink and snacks. Small sundries shop as well. I didn't see any restroom facilities and it's not a major exit off the freeway so come prepared.

We came on an industry tour and it was a crazy big group. When we got there they had a couple stands with local vendors selling products. They also had some produce and dips to sample. A while later the tour starts. You get to walk all around the farm, hear how they plant their produce and you still get to pick your own clamshell of strawberries! It ends with a lunch that they make with produce from JR. I will say the lunch was good but definitely different from the vegan one we had a year ago. But very understandable since they had so many more people to feed this time. Mike led the tour and he was great! A seasoned pro and was not at all bothered having to lead such a large group.
