I went to Athletico in Streeterville in mid-February two weeks after I sprained my ankle skiing. I was signed up for CARA's Spring Half Marathon Training program that started in March and was afraid I wasn't going to be able to run at all bec my ankle was swollen and the pain was bad. I am happy to say that with the help of Melody at Athletico, who is a runner herself, I was able to start the training program and keep up with the training schedule. She worked on my ankle and gave me exercises to do every day. She modified my running schedule for me so I would be able to increase my mileage every week without putting too much stress on my ankle. With her help, I was able to run the Lakefront 10-Miler last week without any problems, and I'm on track to run a half marathon in May. I'm grateful for all the wonderful PT I received at Athletico. It really made a big difference in my recovery. read more

Athletico Physical Therapy - Streeterville North - Occupational Therapy Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Please reconsider starting any work with this Physical Therapy center as they would show very little transparency into their billing process which could cost you literally thousands of dollars. I've been feeling a discomfort/pain in my shoulder that wasn't serious enough for me to spend too much money on. When I called this PT center to get a cost estimate, I was surprised to see that they didn't have a clear answer for me. Instead, I was provided with the range of $120-$200 and explained that this is what is billed to my insurance (in my case Cigna), the upper range corresponding to the first visit that includes the diagnosis, and that I would only be responsible for a portion of it. I was booked at a frequency of 3 sessions per week. At every session, I would ask whether they heard back from my insurance in order to get an exact out of pocket amount. 7 sessions in (i.e. a little over 2 weeks later), I still didn't get any information from Athletico but could see the first claims on my insurance account: I already owed them over $700 for the first 3 sessions alone! I of course immediately put an end to the visits. My first bill from Athletico arrived a month after the beginning of the sessions. If I had kept the same frequency of visits and only relied on the information they were providing me (which was basically none), I would have been over 12 sessions in and owing them around $2.5k... for a minor shoulder pain. I was obviously very annoyed at the situation and called them to explain the huge disconnect with the expectation that they had set. I asked the billing department about a self-pay rate (meaning paying directly, no insurance involved), they lied to me and told me it would be the insurance's pre-negotiated rate (in this case, $617 for the first visit alone!). I called back the PT center itself and they corrected the lie by explaining that the self-pay rate is $150, but that I couldn't benefit from it as they had already submitted the claims to my insurance. They showed zero flexibility with my situation. I had done everything in my power to get as much information as possible to know what I was getting into: - requested a quote over the phone before scheduling my first visit - asked for a more exact out of pocket amount on my first visit - asked for an update on the billing at every single session And yet I still ended up with a $1400 bill for 7 sessions which obviously came as a huge surprise. I don't know if the lack of transparency is their strategy or the result of their terrible processes, but I would advise working with a different, more transparent and honest physical therapy center. And if for some reason that is not an option for you, then do ask about the self-pay rate up front and seriously consider it. In my case, it would have saved me $400. read more

Athletico Physical Therapy - Streeterville North - Outrageous bill for the first 3 out of 7 sessions - Occupational Therapy Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Dislocated my elbow a few months ago from breaking my fall just like how everyone tells you not to put your hand out. (but who really falls and rolls??!) Anyways...finally came in after the holidays and after just one session I already had more range of motion than when I came in. Of course there's still a lot of homework to do. but I am impressed! I worked with Melody for my session but i got to observe the interaction of the other sessions going on around me. It was a quiet and respectful environment and all the PT's seemed willing to help each other out and seemed to have good rapport with their patients. Overall, would highly recommend. read more

My pain doctor at Rush Orthopedics found Melody Tran for me. My issue concerned my back and I can personally attest to the fact that Melody is great with backs. Appointments with Melody were surprisingly easy to get. That may be because she is relatively new in town or simply because this facility has no visibility from the street. In any event, Melody was flexible and the facility has all the right stuff. I like the fact that the facility and its equipment are kept clean. Further, the location, which is in a hotel on the same floor as the hotel conference rooms and the executive offices, has the added plus of providing patients with access to very nice bathroom facilities. read more

Had a great experience at Athletico-Streeterville. With right hip surgery completed in April, I started coming to PT 3 times a week the end of May. Jacqueline and Kirsten were amazing. Worked me hard so that I could get on the road to regaining strength in my legs and hip areas. Insurance paid their share so I only had a copay to provide. Trust me, you won't be disappointed in the attention and care you receive! read more

Five stars, highly recommended! I came to Athletico Streeterville with neck pain resulting from working a desk job with multiple monitors for the last decade. I worked with Melody Tran and she was extremely knowledgeable. She not only is trained as a physical therapist, but also was formerly a personal trainer and anatomy teacher which gave her valuable domain knowledge. I learned a ton about the strengths and weaknesses of my body all while feeling better each time. Athletico helped me improve upon mind/muscle connections that were simply overlooked in my day to day life. If you are serious about putting in the work to feel better, Athletico Streeterville and Melody will give you a helpful push down that path. read more

My primary doctor referred me to this place for my chronic neck pain. However, I went in for an appointment and this place felt like a scam. Both the front desk lady and the therapist I saw were EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL for the following reasons:1. SECRETIVE ABOUT PRICING: Before the appointment started, I specifically asked for a quote for the whole treatment but the front desk lady said she had no clue and I would need to call some one else to get the pricing information. 2. THERAPIST SHOWED ZERO BASIC MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE: During the appointment, the therapist first reviewed my medical history and referral and concluded that my prescription for CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING meant a CERVICAL SPINE X RAY and suggested me to go to orthopedics. 3. FRONT DESK,NOT THERAPIST, DECIDED MY TREATMENT FREQUENCY: after evaluating my condition, the therapist just couldn't make a decision on the frequency of my treatment using his PT training but had to ask the front desk lady, who had zero idea of my condition, to give a suggestion. 4. NECK PAIN BECAME WORSE AFTER FIRST APPOINTMENT: During the appointment, the therapist showed me two exercises that I can do at home and had me practice at the clinics. However, while I was practicing, he was almost looking at his laptop for the entire time instead of making sure that I was doing it correctly. After the practice, my neck pain got much worse and I had to use pain killers to relieve it. 5. CHARGED ME $500 FOR FUTURE APPOINTMENTS THAT I CANCELLED: After my first appointment, I did not think that this place is professional/trustworthy, so I emailed them to cancel all my future appointments. However, they still charged my insurance company for the future appointments that they made before even evaluated my condition. And when they made the appointment, they told me that they were just putting down a couple place holders in case I need them. Stay away from this place. read more

Nick was absolutely awesome in helping me with my recovery from knee surgery. As young an athlete, I told Nick my ultimate goal was to play sports again and he did everything in his power to aid my recovery in the most professional way. Kiersten who is also a therapist there worked with me as well, and she is right up to par with Nick. The office staff is extremely helpful with scheduling, insurance, and all of the other issues that you personally do not want to deal with. The people here are respectful, well organized, and the most helpful that you could ask for. I highly recommend this location for any physical therapy needs as they will do their absolute best to accommodate you in every way possible. read more

I initially came with reservation about seeing another physical therapist, after seeing 3 previous ones. Melody was able to find out what was wrong from just watching my gait. She was extremely knowledgeable and broke down what was happening into simple terms and great analogies. Her intention was never to have me keep coming back(like so many other places do), but to educate me with exercises and therapy so I can help myself in the long run. I would/will refer anyone to her and this location. read more

I had recurrent knee issues for several years and gave PT a shot - and I'm glad I did. I mostly worked with Melody, who was great and had a an excellent grasp of both medical and rehab knowledge. She helped me stop my bad habits that likely lead to/exacerbated my issues and also gave me the training tools to prevent regression. They also had TONS of availability and were easy to work into my chaotic schedule. Overall a great experience. read more

I feel so lucky to have Priyal working with me. I'm seeing a lot of improvement just in 4 sessions. I just do what she tells me and it's working. She's super thorough and really sensitive to any issues I'm having. I'm sensitive to light (I get migraines), so she lets me exercise in a room with the lights off. I'm just super relieved I've found something for my neck pain that's actually working. read more

Very nice therapist but charges are outrageous and benefits minimal

I had been going to Athletics for about 3 months to strengthen my feet and work on my plantar fasciitis. I waited for 3 weeks before posting this review, to see if the pain would come back. On most days David worked with me and I have no complaints. Everyone was professional, kind and attentive. Hopefully, I never need to go back, except to thank them :) read more

I have now had two separate experiences with this Athletico branch. The first was for a severe disk herniation in my lower back; and the second was for neck related issues. I initially thought surgery would be the only option to fix my back problems. I could barely walk when I first injured it. However for both issues, I received outstanding care and was able to get back to normal activities reasonably quickly. Priyal was my physical therapist for both issues and I could not have been happier with her assessment(s), plan(s) of action, execution and follow-up. The treatment not only got me out of severe pain (especially my back), but I was able to take away valuable at-home exercises that will help me remain active (playing golf) and pain free going forward. Priyal and her PT aides were fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for conservative, non-surgical or non-invasive methods of therapy and rehab. read more

I just spent four months there due to a severe back injury. The staff.. from delightful Mary at the front desk to Tony who assists so well as many interns do, this was the best experience by far but for one main reason. Kevin Martin!! I have worked with many PT's in my lifetime but never had I worked with one so professional, so smart, so accommodating, so caring and so knowledgeable as Kevin. Truly the greatest asset to an already well run, clean. professional facility managed by Dave. read more

I had knee replacement surgery and was lucky enough to have my physical therapy at the Athletico facility at 150 E Huron. EVERYONE was amazing - genuinely caring and attentive, upbeat and positive. Kevin Martin is the best - knows his stuff and has an authentic concern for his patient's recovery. Mary at the desk, Amanda and Dave are also great - it's rare that such a good group of folks end up working at the same place. I would never consider another clinic if the need arises. Thank you Athletico on E Huron - you guys are the absolute best! read more
