However, What I can't abide is a tyrant who will sit there in front of the posted policy and tell somebody who waited 2 hours I won't let you have 3 boxes, I'll only let you have one Box of 38 (1/15/21). Today I watched him tell the customer in front of me "I am only going to let you have 1 box .308." Even though there was more available, And when I asked to buy the 3 boxes of Mini shot shells he (Not big 5) is restricting me to 2 boxes. I gave this location 2 stars instead of 1 because other employees have followed the protocol and treated me with respect.

I hopped on the Monterey Sheriff's Department website and saw that Uncle Ed's offers an online course in addition to their in-person classes. I paid for it, started right away, and was pleasantly surprised. It was super informative and nowhere near as dry or monotonous as I expected. I finished the material, passed the online test, and got my certificate. When I contacted them about the live-fire certification, they responded immediately with available dates and let me pick what worked best for my schedule. ​On the day of the range test, I caught the tail end of their in-person class and was blown away by the difference between Uncle Ed's and the original place I went to. I almost regretted not taking the whole thing in person, but doing it online was a lifesaver for my work schedule. ​Once class wrapped up, we headed out to the range. Jake went over all the ground rules clearly before we started. During the live-fire test, both Jake and Tracy were incredibly patient, helpful, and friendly. We all had a great time and shared a few laughs. You could tell they genuinely wanted everyone to feel comfortable asking questions without any judgment, and they were truly invested in helping everyone pass. ​All in all, it was a fantastic experience.
