I hopped on the Monterey Sheriff's Department website and saw that Uncle Ed's offers an online course in addition to their in-person classes. I paid for it, started right away, and was pleasantly surprised. It was super informative and nowhere near as dry or monotonous as I expected. I finished the material, passed the online test, and got my certificate. When I contacted them about the live-fire certification, they responded immediately with available dates and let me pick what worked best for my schedule. On the day of the range test, I caught the tail end of their in-person class and was blown away by the difference between Uncle Ed's and the original place I went to. I almost regretted not taking the whole thing in person, but doing it online was a lifesaver for my work schedule. Once class wrapped up, we headed out to the range. Jake went over all the ground rules clearly before we started. During the live-fire test, both Jake and Tracy were incredibly patient, helpful, and friendly. We all had a great time and shared a few laughs. You could tell they genuinely wanted everyone to feel comfortable asking questions without any judgment, and they were truly invested in helping everyone pass. All in all, it was a fantastic experience. I'll definitely be back for my next renewal, and I'm already looking into some of their advanced classes. Huge thanks to Jake and Tracy

Always nice when a store isn't full of uptight jerks. If you're ordering from an online store and need to have your FFL items sent to a shop in the area, I've found their dealer-to-dealer transfer fees to be the best. I have both purchased firearms here and had online purchased FFL items sent here and have always been pleased with my experiences. Also, if you follow their Facebook page, they do post and let you know when they do (not as often as anyone would like) get .22 LR in stock.

I went in…read moresomewhat blindly, asking a lot of questions and trying to get a male perspective on the different options. The gentleman helping me wasn't extremely knowledgeable, but he did help narrow down my choices, which I appreciated. I also asked about having the knife engraved. He didn't know much about that other than 2 weeks out and had to call someone for help. The person he called, Amanda, didn't really give him much direction other than saying she couldn't help because she was "in the back getting an IV bag," which I thought was a very odd thing to say to a customer. I ultimately decided to purchase the $300 knife and leave it there, thinking Amanda would call me soon with information about the engraving, especially since they would need the knife anyway. By 3:00 p.m., I still hadn't received a call. At that point, my mind was racing because I was still thinking about how odd it was that someone would be "getting an IV bag in the back" while at work. I went back to the store and simply asked for the knife. No questions were asked, and there was no follow-up about whether I still wanted the engraving. They just handed the knife back to me. This was my first experience with this business, and unfortunately, it wasn't the greatest. Overall, it was a very odd experience, to say the least.
