Huge shoutout to the team at C&N. I don't live locally and called up during the week to ask some questions about their products. Cooper helped me out and not only answered all of my questions but provided valuable advice. I asked about their hours and Cooper said they were closed Saturdays but that he'd be happy to open up the shop just for us. We arranged a time and met at the lot. Cooper went over all of my questions, let me test drive the tractor we were interested then took the time (again on a Saturday) to walk us through the whole yard explaining what each implement did and the differences between models. This wasn't a rushed Saturday appointment. He gad a genuine desire to help us out and we took all the time we needed. At the end of the visit we ended up getting a new MX6000 tractor with implements. I'm continually amazed at how LITTLE these local tractor dealerships try to please customers. If you're not a huge winery, don't expect to walk out happy. When I was looking at buying a brand new tractor, I was looking at John Deere, Kubota, and New Holland. I was looking to spend 30-40k on what is a much higher end tractor than most homeowner style tractors. I was treated like a leper. Nobody took the time to answer my (admittedly detailed, and sometimes numerous) questions about the tractors, implements, financing, etc. There was an attitude of "if you don't already know, I'm not going to bother to tell you". I had done a lot of research, and had a lot of questions. Maybe that was just masking their ignorance of the equipment they sell though? P.S. I ended up refusing to give these guys my business, and I bought a kubota out of town - I didn't save any money, but at least I didn't give my money to these guys simply because they are the only game in town. P.P.S. This is the same review I gave for CCM, because they both have horrible service. The New Holland dealer was MUCH more customer service oriented, but unfortunately lacked inventory, and in the end I decided I didn't want a new holland. read more

Growing up spending time on ranches on the Central Coast, I find myself fulfilling my childhood dream of living full time on family land. Naturally, a tractor comes with the deal, which lead me to C&N Tractor. The old Kubota tractor that's on the property has been in desperate need of some help. A rusted out gear box, some sun damaged hoses and corroded fixtures has left our fields high and the ticks rampant. Fearful of the cost, we took the gearbox into be inspected fully expecting to have to drop some money to replace it. Much to our delight, Keith at C&N informed us that he could rebuild the gearbox for a fraction of the cost of replacement and got it done quickly. I have now called with questions and gone into C&N in person multiple times. They are always genuine, friendly and patient with my lack of knowledge. They try to understand my descriptive terms without making me feel like an idiot. Most importantly, they find the fix to my problems at a reasonable price and their work is always and quality. On Feb. 20th we had a service rep come to our home to look at our Kubota to see if we could get an estimate on repairs. After a couple of weeks we called to see if the estimate was done. We were told he was very busy and still working on it. Today we called and were told that it would be inconvenient for them to work on the tractor without it being in the shop. In essence, not interested in working on it. If they weren't interested in working on the tractor we would have appreciated notice right away so we could find someone else to work on it. It has now been 3 weeks since we had the tractor looked at and could have had it possibly up and running by now. Not satisfied with your service department and will definitely not recommend anyone to you. read more

Customer service was worthy of 5 stars. Cooper is the guy to call here. He was friendly, incredibly helpful, and driven to ensure we were successful in our rental and use of the tractor. When the tractor gave up, Cooper came out to the property on his day off to collect it. We are tremendously appreciative of him and his dedication - C&N is very lucky to have Cooper. The one star rating is for spending $500 on a tractor rental that I got 6 hours use out of (technically $700, as I had to rent a car trailer to move it). 1. The tire went flat almost immediately, 2. the box grader fell off after 4 hours, 3. the engine was overheating (even after sitting all night), 4. the battery light was on, 5. as was -what looked like- the fluid indicator light, and 6. hydraulic fluid was leaking out of one of the bucket arms. The tractor I rented appears to be at the end of its life. For those wondering, I did call to inquire about a reduction in charges, but Cooper explained there wasn't much to be done for me (basically, flat tire could have been my fault; it didn't overheat for them; I should have checked the bucket cotter pins, etc.). Prior to everything going wrong, I had a good 4 hours worth of work out of the Kubota - it seemed like a pretty solid little vehicle. In conclusion, I wouldn't go out of my way to tell someone to cancel a rental/purchase from C&N, but I would caution them to consider alternatives or be prepared for disastrous results. read more

Financing was easy, they never tried to over sell us. We got the equipment we needed and a great investment for maintaining our home. read more

Take your tractor someplace else for service. Had them come out to do normal maintenance on my tractor that was running perfectly. The first technician left without finishing the job. Called them and they sent another technician out to finish the job. Had to have them come out a third time because after the second technician I couldn't even get the tractor to start. Then the water pump failed so took the tractor in. They called and said it was done. Went to pick it up and it wasn't done. It was still missing parts! I asked the cashier what was going on and he said he didn't know he was just the parts guy. I didn't realize it at the time but the manager was on site yet he didn't step in nor did the parts guy call him over to help with the situation. Didn't even get an apology for their error. I've taken my tractor to the dealer up in Salinas before and will do so from now on. It's worth the drive. read more

My 85 year old father got mis-lead/not properly informed by the sales Manager Jeff...HE is a JERK...all the other guys I had dealt with in the shop over the decades(prior to C&N also) were always helpful/professional...we needed a new mower to go with our Jon Deere tractor...we were sold a Gearmore mower By Jeff and he did not inform my father of the heavy duty model (the one we needed) that GM offered...was going to be the same price as the what Jon Deere offered(for their heavy-duty mower)...I/we thought we were getting a heavy duty Gear- More mower for a couple Thousand $ less...it turned out to be their "mid-range"/lighter-duty mower...His concern and ability to reconcile was PATHETIC(same with Gearmore when I called them)...Be careful when buying an expensive new piece of equipment there...& do your research before...Jeff should be selling used cars.... read more

Salesman are nice but the service department is horrible and are just looking to make money. I would not recommend even buying a bolt from this business let alone a machine of any type. Small town mentality where they only help out the millionaire farmers in the area. Don't care about losing business from the local average homeowners. read more

I purchased over 50 k in equipment from C& N Tractor. Had a problems with some new equipment and got very little response to resolve it. I spoke to the owner who also made no attempt to make things right. They have a chip on their shoulder and only cater to the larger customers. I do all my tractor business in the valley. Look at other dealer so you can compare service quality and prices. C&N Tractor claims they might be a bit pricey but have better service, ( I don't think so). read more

Should have listened to the warnings of other yelp reviewers and saved some time. We ended up purchasing a kubota excavator from diamond A equipment in Santa Maria. Their sales team is awesome. First class treatment, and we saved about $4,000 vs going with c and n!!! read more
