It's refreshing and heartening to see a gunshop ad full featured and fully staffed in these days of 2nd amendment assault we all are surviving here in California. I had a few questions that all were answered by Pam, behind the counter and supported by a customer who had valuable info to add that she had expiranced. My understanding is that the former chief of police is the proprietor and current activist for our constutanal rights. I couldn't more highly recommend this establishment. If your in the area, give them your support, they have something you need and maybe something you haven't been able to find. Their consignment selection is always rotating. I purchased a rifle, a matching scope, and bipod. 2,200.00. A fair price with the scope. Paid and got the receipt which stated rifle, scope and bipod included. I go to pick up the rifle and there is no scope or bipod? Jim the owner stated that it was a mistake? It's printed on my receipt and on there computer. The fiearm is only worth 1,700.00 with out the scope. How can this be a mistake as It's printed on the receipt. A receipt is an implied contract. Jim said he would get me a scope at cost. Ok so now I have 2,600.00 into a 1,700.00 gun. So now do I have a choice? No I don't. I come to pick up the firearm and they stated I did not owe anything. So great they decided to honor there contract, my lucky day. I have extra money so I bought another firearm which I never would have bought if I had to pay for the scope. 700.00. I go to pick up the new pistol and they tell me I owe for the scope. He never suggested a discount. Not for them to honor there mistake? Is not good business. Never got the bipod? For a customer to purchase and pay for an item and not get what was paid for is a travesty. Won't be shopping here anymore. When I left the store you said it was a mistake....you own the store so it was your mistake so why don't you pay for it? So today I paid you 500.00 for your mistake. I own 2 retail stores if I post a price tag that is incorrect I pay for it. How does it feel to get paid for your mistake? You should be ashamed. On my way to the range I will let the coconut wireless know how foul you have treated me. When I left your store today you said it all was a mistake. Bottom Line: Check our Roosters Firearms! I've purchased a few guns here and it was a pleasant experience each time. The place is large, well managed, and clean. It is tight as far as space goes but that is a good thing as the "tightness" is a result of well stocked shelves providing supplies and provisions for the shooter and outdoorsman. Staff members are knowledgeable AND open to listening to others information. The store even looks cool from the outside. Kinda looks like a cowboy hangout with hitching post and a shaded overhang. DO NOT USE ROOSTER'S FOR FIREARMS TRANSFERS!! Simply put, if your background check for acquiring the firearm comes back with a hold from the DOJ (which has apparently been happening more frequently), and eventually leads to an "Undetermined" status in the DOJ system, then Rooster's policy is to NOT release the firearm to you.That is their choice. Under CA DOJ law, they are legally able to release the gun to you with an "Undetermined" status, but due to apparent liability reasons they will not. Other gun shops WILL release "Undetermined" status firearms.Not to mention that Rooster's charges a 'storage fee' during the time you are waiting to wait for a DOJ response or to figure out how to get the gun transferred some other way.I wouldn't have written a negative review, but I had just purchased a new firearm from them a few months prior to trying to transfer and they knew I had no issues, but still refused to release my firearm to me.It was a huge headache that took over 6 months to resolve. Make it easy on yourself if you are doing a transfer and find a shop that will work with you, for example Uncle Ed's Outfitters in Atascadero. read more

I had to order 17 HMR ammunition from out of state and have it delivered to an FFL gun dealer due to California's over bearing gun laws. I called Rooster's Firearms and they were very helpful. They quoted me a $25.00 processing fee and gave me all their shipping information. My order arrived today and I went in and picked it up. Even though the guy that normally processes these deliveries wasn't in they processed my order, completed the Ca paperwork and I was out the door a short time later. OMG. Not "OMG" like a hipster millennial. No - the is a legit "OMG". I wish I could buy more guns or ammo from Roosters. But the safe is full and the shelves are stocked. All that is left is coffee, mugs and t-shirts. So I continue to buy coffee, mugs and t-shirts. I didnt think much of it given the mad rush on california firearms . However, I recently purchased a S&W MP 15 . AR prices vary based on manufacturer so I didnt think much of $1300 price tag until I walked into range master in SLO today and saw the exact same GUN for $998!!! . My son and his girlfriend (20 & 23) were very excited to visit this new gun store. My family own many firearms so they grew up around them and own many of their own. The staff were very rude, unknowlegable when asked specific questions regarding the laws or they didn't want to discuss it. They were followed through the shop. My son was looking at a rifle and open it up to inspect the guts and was told he had to ask permission before doing that. We will never buy anything from this store let alone recommend it.
