Great experience, very knowledgable staff and gunsmith. Great selection of new and used inventory. Recommended!

Very very rude customer service. Like you are bothering them by walking in. However they did what I wanted. read more

Knowledgeable and friendly. Nice selection of firearms, parts and accessories. Competitive prices is a plus. I had one problem though. I just can not seem to leave Roosters with buying something. I tried. read more

Wonderful shop. Staff is so friendly and very knowledgeable. They had some rare ammo I was actually looking for just off of a whim which was a treat. They answered all my questions and had some great insight into the topics. I was just stopping through, but I'm so glad I did. If you are ever in the area or just have a moment to swing by to browse or chat, I highly recommend you do. I will be back, not sure when, but I will be. read more

I brought a shotgun in for repair. The gunsmith let it fall off the top of his car onto the highway. It was found by an honest homeowner who called me (my name was on the repair tag). Completely incompetent. It still does not work. Never going back. read more

It's refreshing and heartening to see a gunshop ad full featured and fully staffed in these days of 2nd amendment assault we all are surviving here in California. I had a few questions that all were answered by Pam, behind the counter and supported by a customer who had valuable info to add that she had expiranced. My understanding is that the former chief of police is the proprietor and current activist for our constutanal rights. I couldn't more highly recommend this establishment. If your in the area, give them your support, they have something you need and maybe something you haven't been able to find. Their consignment selection is always rotating. I was brought by a friend and walked out with some black rifle coffee shirts and now know where to point a friend looking for a lefty bulpup 12g. Thank you!!! read more

Rooster's Firearms - Storefront - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Templeton, California

I purchased a rifle, a matching scope, and bipod. 2,200.00. A fair price with the scope. Paid and got the receipt which stated rifle, scope and bipod included. I go to pick up the rifle and there is no scope or bipod? Jim the owner stated that it was a mistake? It's printed on my receipt and on there computer. The fiearm is only worth 1,700.00 with out the scope. How can this be a mistake as It's printed on the receipt. A receipt is an implied contract. Jim said he would get me a scope at cost. Ok so now I have 2,600.00 into a 1,700.00 gun. So now do I have a choice? No I don't. I come to pick up the firearm and they stated I did not owe anything. So great they decided to honor there contract, my lucky day. I have extra money so I bought another firearm which I never would have bought if I had to pay for the scope. 700.00. I go to pick up the new pistol and they tell me I owe for the scope. He never suggested a discount. Not for them to honor there mistake? Is not good business. Never got the bipod? For a customer to purchase and pay for an item and not get what was paid for is a travesty. Won't be shopping here anymore. When I left the store you said it was a mistake....you own the store so it was your mistake so why don't you pay for it? So today I paid you 500.00 for your mistake. I own 2 retail stores if I post a price tag that is incorrect I pay for it. How does it feel to get paid for your mistake? You should be ashamed. On my way to the range I will let the coconut wireless know how foul you have treated me. When I left your store today you said it all was a mistake. You own the business so it was your mistake SO PAY FOR IT. read more

Very helpful folks with a great selection of firearms. The prices were very reasonable also.

My two+ trips there have been great. The staff are very experienced and friendly professionals. There are certain sporting goods, gun stores, etc., where I am rudely disregarded by staff members. Not here. If you are looking for gear on the Central Coast, I highly recommend this establishment. read more

I have bought many firearms from them. I plan on buying more from them. The only store in North County and SLO that has a lot of inventory. The family does a lot to support law enforcment, military and other cherities. The peolpe there are customer friendly, love to educate, and are easy to talk to. Thank you Mulhall family for all your hard work. We'll be in later this month to purchase a couple more guns. Cheers! read more

Bottom Line: Check our Roosters Firearms! I've purchased a few guns here and it was a pleasant experience each time. The place is large, well managed, and clean. It is tight as far as space goes but that is a good thing as the "tightness" is a result of well stocked shelves providing supplies and provisions for the shooter and outdoorsman. Staff members are knowledgeable AND open to listening to others information. The store even looks cool from the outside. Kinda looks like a cowboy hangout with hitching post and a shaded overhang. If you need shooting supplies check out Roosters Firearms. You'll be glad you did. ScangelousPear read more

My husband and I are first time buyers, we started out at Turners in our neck of the woods, horrible service, horrible selection, they clearly did not want to help us. Segway to Roosters.... Pam was AMAZING!!!! She was patient, kind, and very helpful. After handling several handguns, we choose one that we could both used comfortably. We are def going back in Dec to purchase a right and left handed shotgun. Roosters is an amazing place to go, great atmosphere, lots of parking and an extremely knowledgeable staff. We rate Rooster's 10 stars!! Thanks Pam, see you soon. read more

Just left there with my new gun staff was very helpful shelves were kinda bare but that is to be expected during the pandemic will definitely go back much better experience than going to turners read more

I'm with others, very rude, grumpy, impatient customer service. Not willing to lift a finger to help or answer questions. id rather drive out of town twice than buy from them. read more

Love Rooster's, Straight forward friendly staff, you feel safe with their knowledge and service. Owners were both born in Mineola , NY doesn't get any better than that. They have a long history living in SLO county, you are in good hands. read more

DO NOT USE ROOSTER'S FOR FIREARMS TRANSFERS!! Simply put, if your background check for acquiring the firearm comes back with a hold from the DOJ (which has apparently been happening more frequently), and eventually leads to an "Undetermined" status in the DOJ system, then Rooster's policy is to NOT release the firearm to you. That is their choice. Under CA DOJ law, they are legally able to release the gun to you with an "Undetermined" status, but due to apparent liability reasons they will not. Other gun shops WILL release "Undetermined" status firearms. Not to mention that Rooster's charges a 'storage fee' during the time you are waiting to wait for a DOJ response or to figure out how to get the gun transferred some other way.I wouldn't have written a negative review, but I had just purchased a new firearm from them a few months prior to trying to transfer and they knew I had no issues, but still refused to release my firearm to me.It was a huge headache that took over 6 months to resolve. Make it easy on yourself if you are doing a transfer and find a shop that will work with you, for example Uncle Ed's Outfitters in Atascadero. read more

I had to order 17 HMR ammunition from out of state and have it delivered to an FFL gun dealer due to California's over bearing gun laws. I called Rooster's Firearms and they were very helpful. They quoted me a $25.00 processing fee and gave me all their shipping information. My order arrived today and I went in and picked it up. Even though the guy that normally processes these deliveries wasn't in they processed my order, completed the Ca paperwork and I was out the door a short time later. Great customer service and a reasonable fee. Great selection of new and used guns, gear and ammo. read more

The friendly hometown staff, make your firearm purchase less stressful. Go see them. Thank you Roosters!

OMG. Not "OMG" like a hipster millennial. No - the is a legit "OMG". I wish I could buy more guns or ammo from Roosters. But the safe is full and the shelves are stocked. All that is left is coffee, mugs and t-shirts. So I continue to buy coffee, mugs and t-shirts. I first heard about them when they ran a commercial on KZOZ and have been coming here every month or so for the last year. Each person is competent and knowledgeable of every product, be it guns, accessories, ammo or coffee. I love this store and wear their t-shirt every chance I get. read more

Very nice people and I am happy to support 2 nd amendment stores like this one . I have now purchased my second firearm from Roosters and had noticed prices are a little steep. I didnt think much of it given the mad rush on california firearms . However, I recently purchased a S&W MP 15 . AR prices vary based on manufacturer so I didnt think much of $1300 price tag until I walked into range master in SLO today and saw the exact same GUN for $998!!! . I know purchase prices vary based on buying power , but 30% seems a bit steep. Next time i will check around a bit . Buyer beware read more

Every time I come in I get shoved out the door as fast I come in. The salesmen are impatient and unhelpful. This store is so cool. One wall is lined with firearms and several cases with handguns and accessories. They have so many cool products that can't be found at big chain stores like Dicks or Big 5. This store screams America and I love supporting it. The one thing that I hate about this store is that it seems to be run by old, grumpy men who don't care to help you or explain something you don't understand. The store is awesome but sucks at customer service. read more

I have been meaning to stop by this shop for a few months now. I have heard their ads on the radio and was excited a new gun store was in the area. Today I stopped by and inquired about transferring a firearm and what their fees were. The guy behind the counter quoted a really high number and came across as not too helpful or friendly. I left really disappointed! After that experience i will not be back or recommend them to anyone else. Its really too bad! Customer service and fair prices are the core of any organization! read more

My son and his girlfriend (20 & 23) were very excited to visit this new gun store. My family own many firearms so they grew up around them and own many of their own. The staff were very rude, unknowlegable when asked specific questions regarding the laws or they didn't want to discuss it. They were followed through the shop. My son was looking at a rifle and open it up to inspect the guts and was told he had to ask permission before doing that. We will never buy anything from this store let alone recommend it. Also a family friend owns a gun store and told us to check them out to see if they have what my son was looking for. read more
