I ate here growing up. There was always the conflict to go to the greasy pizza at the Barn or come here where the pizza was always salty. Recently I was in town and I stopped in for a family sized square cut pizza. The guy behind the counter gave us the same "rude" demeanor I have read on the other reviews. But if you talk with him, it is just how he has acted for the past 20+ years working there. He does not treat people rudely but rather that is just how he is. He has always been an experience at this store. The pizza was good and what I remembered from this Jaffrey pizza joint. I do remember their subs were good but I haven't ordered one in 8+ years. read more

Athens Pizza House - Great services owner was super nice and everyone eating without overly full and delicious meals mozzarella stick great fresh sauce - Pizza Near Me - Jaffrey, New Hampshire

Sadley this place has gone downhill. Pizzas are paper thin. Less cheese, less toppings. I order here tonight order was wrong, check your pizza before leaving. :( read more

They are a pretty busy take out place and that is why I stopped in. I am from out of town and walked in to order a small to go. It is good take out at a reasonable price. The staff/owners are friendly. Dining area appeared clean. I'd give it 4 stars but I don't think the crust is made on site. read more

Athens Pizza House - Small pizza with sausage mushrooms peppers onions - Pizza Near Me - Jaffrey, New Hampshire

Komez pizza is the BEST!!! He cooks it exactly to my liking. I highly recommend Athens

Had the absolute worst experience at a pizza joint here today. Put in our order and many people who came in and ordered after were served first. When I complained and asked for a refund I was told I had a bad attitude and was ignorant. Never before have I ever been treated so badly. Avoid this place , staff treats people horribly and the food i nothing special. read more

Great pizza & calzones, especially for this area. As most people know, pizza places are the most common restaurants in these small towns - this is the one we find ourselves going back to time and time again. Prices are reasonable, and wait times are low - even for larger orders. read more

This place has the best pizza around. No one else compares. The crust is amazing. I get the Hamburg pizza typically. Always solid. They're gluten free is really good also. read more

Athens Jaffrey NH -We spent $40 here. -The calzone was burned. -Brought it up to the counter... And was told "that is how it comes"(see picture). -Told us to "order it lighter next time". -So if you do eat there, be sure to tell them you don't want your food burned BEFORE you order. -That's the last $40 we'll ever spend here. read more

Athens Pizza House - Burned calzone and told "next time order it lighter" - there won't be a next time. - Pizza Near Me - Jaffrey, New Hampshire

Decided to try a new pizza place today. AMAZING pizza! Served hot, but didn't burn my mouth. The cheese is gooey and leaves long strands hanging down when you pull up a slice. The crust is crispy and perfectly done, with chewy edges. The sauce is slightly sweet. Ten stars - this'll be our new favorite pizza place. read more

Their pizza is amazing! Steak and cheese wasn't my favorite. Friendly service and a great place to eat! Recommend checking it out and seeing for yourself! read more

I present this review with two perspectives. The perspective of getting a hot pizza with ample amounts of cheese and good flavor and the resulting next day when i feel like i very well could be dying. Don't get me wrong I love the taste of there pizza but don't think it is worth feeling like i had a cannon ball shot at my stomach the next day. Wings, like wise, have great flavor but make me feel a little sick the next day. A little drab, dusty and dank on the inside of the building this place could be in a scene of Black Mass, everything here feels like it could be back dated to the 80's. Everytime i have come here there has only been the one guy with glasses, I am guessing the owner. Could use a little improvement on his demeanor and dealing with the customers. Still, probably the best tasting laxative in the area. read more

Y'all are high, this pizza is GREAT! Urbanspoon has it at 4 stars, so does Yahoo. NOT expensive, 20 bucks for a large loaded pie, and 6 bucks for a PITCHER of Long Trail...yea, gimme two...Utah...gimme two. read more

Serena was super helpful on the salads I ordered for a work event. Thank you Serena for sending me a copy of the receipt, much appreciated! I'll order future lunch items from Athens again, very good food. read more

We tried the Athens pizza in Leominster, thought this might be the same owners, they were not but the girl behind the counter who took our order was very friendly to us. Tried the roast beef sub, good size, fresh, price was right. Wife got the antipasto salad, she enjoyed it too. Inside needs am update, but all in all a fine experience. We will come back and try the pizza. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in or eat out. My orders are taken precisely, cooked perfect and the customer service is friendly, and my wait time isn't even considered a wait! Thank you Athens in Jaffrey!! read more

used to be good but in the past yr the pizza has gotten worse and half the time when i order a gyro the meat has been hard. today they messed up our order giving us a veal grinder instead of a dinner , and my antipasto i ordered was Not an antipasto but a greek salad with ham n salami in it , antipasto usually has pickled veggies in it along with salami and pepperoni. starting to think i shouldn't order there any more. read more

This is exactly what you would expect from a local pizza joint. We ordered steak and cheese, buffalo tenders, curly fries, wings, and chicken skewer. We did have to wait for part of our meal (the chicken skewer) when the rest of the order was ready. In terms of food, the wings were AMAZING! Other than that everything else was pretty basic. Okay place to stop if you're not in a rush. read more

Food is delicious and fast. Great service, if you are in Jaffrey NH, I would recommend you stop there

This is my favorite local go-to place for lunch and sometimes dinner. The older "rude" employee no longer works there. The pizza is good with the correct amount of sauce and toppings. read more

The food depending what you good is alright it's always quiet when you walk in there... the place could use some serious updating and allow customers to use the WIFI they obviously have when you look for it... this is 2019 where WiFi is available... read more

Athens is the only real pizza in Jaffrey, so I'm limiting this review based on this constraint! Pros: Fresh toppings, lots of options, and the chewy "Greek style" crust that most people are ok with. Service is fine if you call ahead. Good, small collection of beers on tap. Cons: Expensive for what it is. Minimal atmosphere. Overall this is fine stop if you are coming back from a hike, heading to your summer house, or just need a pizza fix and want something a step above Domino's. A better option all around is to head a mile down the road to Kimballs and have great burgers and homemade ice cream instead. . . read more

Athens was our favorite local pizza spot, but after repeated instances of poor customer service, the diminishing quality of the pizza, and cost vs. value, it's just not cutting it anymore. I grew up near a Athens Pizza, and always enjoyed the quality and consistency of their pizza, and subs. When we first moved to the area, we were excited to find that the pizza at Athens in Jaffrey was virtually the same as the pizza we grew up with at other Athens locations. But over the course of the last year we have encountered increasingly poor and rude customer service, to the point where we have gone elsewhere. For example, we were going order a party pizza for my birthday last year and the older male employee who took my call was so rude to me that there was no way I was going to spend my birthday buying mediocre pizza from some rude chump (Owner? Manager? Whoever he is, he is the worst, but always seems to be the one manning the phone) So we decided to go to 5 Guys in Keene instead and the food and service there was top notch. The 80's retro decor in Athens is fun and nostalgic, I actually like it, but it quickly turns creepy and outdated when coupled with poor service and mediocre pizza quality. The most recent pizza's we've had there seemed smaller than normal, had less cheese than they use to, and even the crust seemed skimpier. Athens isn't the worst pizza in the area, but with poor customer service, decreasing quality, no menu online, no website/Facebook page, they're not trying very hard, and don't seem to care. read more

Went to Athens pizza because the pizza barn wasn't open. The sandwich was very dry and skimpy on peppers and onions . w don't go back.

I used to go a few times a week. I don't go there now. The price is high, the value is Low. I would rather have peanut butter and jelly before paying their prices. read more

Coming from further down the east coast, I don't think anyone makes great pizza in this area. Athens is ok though--you have to order by the pie and the crust is pretty good. Lots of toppings to choose from. The pizza is very greasy though, made my husband and I a little sick. read more

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the pizza, for the area anyway. It is the service that kills me. And mainly the cold, irritated attitude the older white man with the glasses has. You don't get spoken too until you state your order in which he has already walked into the back room, he tosses the box on the counter, rings it in and waits for money. Why is there no excitement for food in Jaffrey? read more

Yhe staff was very nice. The pizza was average and the crust on the thin side. I like a thicker crust. I found the restaurant extremely dirty, there were crumbs on the seats, tables and food stuck to the walls. My seat cushion had mold in the creases of the cushion. read more

The pizza we ordered was eh, some of the ingredients were not too fresh tasting. We were excited about the list of toppings though, how many places can you order kielbasa on a pizza? The guy we took our order from was a little gruff at first, then warmed up when we picked up the pizza. They have a pretty awesome jukebox though. read more

I love their pizza more than any of the others I've tried in the area, but I generally just get take out because the atmosphere and wait staff can be a let down. It's usually one guy and a couple of teenagers behind the counter. Let's just say, don't go there looking for small talk read more

We eat here every so often. This place has good pizza and subs (I usually get a steak and cheese - comes out terrific). The pizza is among the better in the area (other choice for great pizza is Pizza Barn up in Peterborough). As for the negative reviews regarding employee rudeness, we have found all the employees except one of them to be friendly and polite. The Pinays working there are great, as are a couple other of the non-Pinays. The older white guy is a bit odd, rarely speaking... I thought he was mute for the first couple of years we were going there, until one day he finally said something very brief. I'm not sure what's up with that. read more

Love Athens Pizza. Calzones are awesome too. Hey, if you want snob-food, go somewhere else. This is pizza and good-old fashioned fried food. Great place for working class people to bring the kids for an affordable night out. read more

thought we'd give this place a second chance And they completely lost our order and the old guy working have us is an attitude needless to say we will never patronize this place again and would strongly advise anyone to avoid them your order will be wrong or forgotten this coupled with rude service makes this a dump to avoid read more

I'm not sure which is worse at Athens, the pizza or the service. I've never dealt with a more rude wait staff in my entire life. Their pizza is average for the area which is sub par overall for my standard of pizza pie. If you're in the area and want a pizza I suggest Aqua Bistro over in Peterborough. read more

Love the sauce and that makes this my favorite place for pizza locally. Menu is pretty diverse with standard pizza joint fare. Subs are also very good. I find the salads, pasta dishes and appetizer items just average. Service could be friendlier, but food is usually done in a timely way and prices are decent. read more

I really like the pizza here. Lots of variety in the menu. The wings are decent (though still trying to find the perfect Buffalo wing in the Monadnock region). Prices are reasonable and you can get a decent sized pizza if you have a bunch of people to feed. Just to update a previous reviewers comments---Aqua Bistro in Peterborough is no longer in business and comparing that high priced restaurant to a pizza joint is like comparing apples and oranges. Athens is your typical pizza joint. read more

We love Athens for their grinders - lots of toppings and sandwiches to choose from. We haven't tried their pizza, I like Pizza Barn in Jaffrey for local pizza. We haven't had a bad sandwich yet. For service, the staff seems indifferent but they are fast and I always appreciate fast service. The restaurant appears clean and so does the bathroom (but could use remodeling). The prices are extremely fair for what you get. The guy from NC is comparing apples to oranges when it comes to prices - we lived in NC and everything down there is dirt cheap. When in New England you have to expect to pay a bit more for what you get...that's just the fact of living here. read more

Thhe steak n cheese loaded sub is wicked awesome I've been all over America and. Athens in Jaffrey is a cool hangout. For locals only the best is found where locals or truckers eat...pizzas good Celt Fridays when the college orders. Real. Big time read more

Ok, so the food here is your typical pizza joint style food, and it is decent. Ive had better, but Ive also had worse.... Prices are good and fit the food well, however, my only qualm with this place is the owner/staff.... Ive never dealt with such a rude, miserable person. I was warned about how rude they were, and I did not believe it. When I went ther, i felt like I was being harrased by the owner for not being a"local", it was surreal.... However, as I am often in the area, and there is not much else around, I will probably order from there again as the food is not bad.... Just dont plan on good customer service or even feeling welcome while youre there! read more

The food overall is decent. Not the best I have had but definitely not the worst. The service is what keeps me from going back on a regular basis. I'm not sure if it is the owner or not, but there is one gentleman who works there who is very rude if you are not a local. I work in the area and it's convenient but to walk in somewhere to order and feel like you are bothering this miserable guy... not worth the aggravation. I'd rather take my business to Pizza Haven in Rindge. Always friendly. read more
