He was able to provide accurate pricing on all the additions and changes. When we would ask for something he would explain WHY it can or cannot be done. Every step of the process was handled with professionalism and care, and it is clear he takes immense pride in his work. What stood out the most, though, was his character. He's honest, dependable, and truly cares about doing things the right way. Nate has a degree in civil engineering from A&M and is able to explain the physics of why we might not want to do something we think we want to do. We are so glad he talked us down from making a potential thousands of dollars mistake and he handled it with patience, care and understanding. He consistently went above and beyond, caught things we never would have noticed, and made sure everything was done to the highest standard. It was a total slam dunk from start to finish. Jeff is an exceptional pool builder. He spent serveral weeks with us going back and forth to achieve the optimal design for our desires. He managed to maximize our space (odd shaped back yard) giving us what we wanted: A large pool with a substantial play area and a long lap lane for exercise purposes. Most importantly, he made sure that we had solid engineering construction for our pool size (about 33K gallons, ~170 linear feet), strongly recommending a double mat rebar construction with 12 inch walls. Nobody else even mentioned that. When I asked other pool builders, I was told "not to worry about it". Well, I'd rather spend the extra money up front than dealing with a cracked pool shell later. He even commissioned an engineering survey to confirm before breaking ground. The equipment is top notch. Pool pump and heater are working beautifully giving us the clearest water we've ever seen in a pool while maintaining the temp at 80 degrees when needed. We were guided expertly through the materials process and features (plastering, tile, travertine, water features, autofill) to achieve the end result we wanted. He also recommended a great pool maintenance company that takes care of all our ongoing needs. He was responsive throughout and supervised the pool building from start to finish. We're looking to build a large pool. $225k. I called and left three voice mails over three weeks for Athena. No response. Sent an email on their website. Received email response a month later, saying they needed $500. I responded "That's fine, but can we have a conversation first? Would you look over the property? Do you have time?" It's been two weeks with no response. Emailed again. No response. I understand they are very good and perhaps too busy, but it would be courteous to have an auto reply, a notice on the website, and v/m greeting, advising that they are too busy to interview new clients right now. read more

Our builder gave us 4 pool builders that they considered eligible and qualified to build a pool for our custom home. We interviewed 3 of the 4 and selected Athena. They got our business because the pricing was clear and competitive, and the design that Jeff did demonstrated that he listened to what we wanted, then came up with a great design based on our sketches and his experience. We've been in the house and using the pool for a year now. The pool was built very well. Service after the sale has been great. No surprises in the costs during the build. The equipment chosen was good quality and the installation of the equipment was very nice and well laid out for service. Jeff was very involved along the way, but the day-to-day man, Ruben, was very good and stayed on top of things and communicated their plans perfectly. The company definitely has pride in their workmanship and has integrity! We worked with MANY contractors during the build of our house. Jeff and his team win our award for the best contractor overall. Excellent experience! Far beyond expectations! My wife and I had an extensive remodel and addition on the home we purchased in Westlake. In the backyard was a pool that was built in the early 1980's. We interviewed multiple pool builders to discuss options of remodeling the previous pool or removing and building a new one. Jeff set himself apart from the competition immediately. His background as an engineer was readily apparent. He meticulously measured our backyard and developed layouts for a new pool that would best compliment the backyard and house. He openly discussed advantages and disadvantages of remodeling the original pool versus removing and building a new one then gave us time to decide the best option for our family. We decided on the latter. We had previewed examples of his work so expectations were already high. He far exceeded these expectations. We hired Athena Pools to build our pool and deck a little over a year ago and we are very satisfied. We interviewed 6 other pool companies in Austin and Jeff from Athena pools. Well to be honest I never even got off the ground with these guys. I am purchasing my families first pool so I knew nothing about the process. I went ahead and got pre approved for 75K not knowing what we would end up paying. Jeff called me and asked me a few questions and asked what I wanted to pay. I told him I got approved for 75K not knowing how much Ill need. He instantly insisted that Athena Pools would probably not be able to help me. I was floored. I told him he had not even seen my yard nor knew what I was willing to pay. I told him how rude and unprofessional he was and that is not the way a representative for a company should act to a customer. Every other pool builder I received a quote from has been courteous and professional which is more than I can say for Jeff and Athena Pools. Ill take my business elsewhere! I can not say enough good things about Jeff & Athena Pools. First of all, the turn around time for the design was incredibly fast. Of course I wanted to change some things & he was able to get the revisions back to me usually within the same day. I never had to wait for him to get back to me with questions I had as well (& I had a lot) Second, his attention to detail is incredible. I am very picky & he exceeded my expectations!
