Great happy hour near Yale Campus. Oysters were delicious! Nice upscale bar. Loved the relaxing music they play in the background. Nice touch. Great service!

My date and I were in downtown New Haven on a Friday night and decided to stop at Florian for a drink and small bite to eat. It was cute inside, but since it was a nice night, we decided to sit outside on their little patio. I ordered a lavender martini which was very tasty and my date ordered a maple bourbon old fashioned which also was very good. We ordered the crab cake and the mariniere moules frites (mussels, Belgium fries in a garlicky broth). The crab cake was decent, but the mussels and the Belgium fries with the lemon aioli were plentiful and delicious. We were served by Kevin who made us feel very welcomed and had lots of enthusiasm. We also were served by Trinity who was amazing, answered all of our questions and she is the reason why we will definitely be returning! It was a great first experience and would definitely recommend checking out!

Atelier Florian will always have a special place in my heart so perhaps this review is slightly biased. I first came here in 2016 and had a really great time. I went back in 2017 and 2018 but that was the last time, until today for brunch. My friend made a 12pm reservation but we got there at about 12:11pm and we were seated with no issues. The host grabbed us some still water and our waitress came over. She was very polite and patient as we sifted through the menu. I grabbed the Avocado Benedict and a peach mimosa. They have several flavors for the mimosa, you just have to ask for it. Our food came out within 12 minutes but they actually gave me the wrong order. The server immediately noticed and rectified it. The flavor was quite bland to be honest but the impeccable service made up for it.

The service was nice. The food was good. We had a taste for oyster so we decided to check this place out. We went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The server asked us if we wanted sparking or regular water for the table. We ordered oysters, a pepper appetizer and some fries. The ambiance was nice they had soft music playing in the back ground. And it was nice inside

My family and I were traveling from Philadelphia to Maine for our annual ski trip and found this gem in the heart of the Yale Campus in New Haven. Since it was Christmas break, it was absolutely dead since all the college kids were back home for the holidays. This place is a French Bistro style restaurant with high quality ingredients and a small, well executed menu. A little pricey for a lunch spot but all the food was really good. Our waiter K was attentive and extremely kind. He was playful with my kids and gave them a piece of candy after they ate their lunch. The clam chowder was absolutely delicious, fried calamari was Ok. I would recommend the arancini, and the Croque monsieur. Only reason for not 5 stars, I think for the price, the food should've been more elevated than what we got. The decor and atmosphere what excellent however!

We had some time to kill before a dinner reservation and we decided to check out their social hour. Our servers name was Kevin and he was amazing. Super attentive, super personable and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Since it was happy hour, we ordered the two dollar oysters and had a couple drinks. We also ordered the fries with the special sauce. the sauce was He made our visit extra ordinary and we would definitely come back again!!!

The restaurant is beautiful and cozy. The staff is very attentive and helpful. We ordered some appetizers: tuna tartare, grilled shishito peppers, ceviche, and arincini balls. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The strawberry Sunrise cocktail I got was delectable Fresh strawberry puree with high end tequila and expertly mixed with the perfect proportions made this one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time! Will definitely be back for more!

We had a wonderful evening! Kevin our server was so gracious about letting us know we still had time to order from the happy hour menu and even took photos for us. Both still and sparkling water are on the house (and they told us upfront) which we appreciated. Onto the food! From happy hour menu we chose crispy lemony brussel sprouts which had the perfect crisp and char. Very very nice. Also got oysters - we enjoyed both types offered on the menu. Very fresh! Entrees - amazing squid ink seafood pasta with mussels, scallops, shrimp and squid cooked wonderfully. Nothing chewy. Everything tasted fresh and the pasta sauce was such a treat. Also ordered the potato gnocchi which they make in house and is soft and melts in your mouth. They had pomodoro sauce and burrata on it - I am a gnocchi fan and enjoyed this very much as well. The restaurant itself is cute and clean. Great place to have a conversation over delicious dinner. Thanks Atelier for a great night!

This is a hidden !! Not sure how there are any negative reviews. We enjoyed all of our dishes. The clam chowder was a little "thin" but everything else was amazing.

The food here is delicious! The soba noodles were so delicious and a great pairing to the tuna. The fries here are also excellent. The vibe in here is very nice - there are smaller tables for dates and some larger tables for maybe parties of up to 6. They also have some limited outdoor seating that is under a roof and nicely decorated. They also have some bar seating. Their bar area is very nicely decorated. The service here is also excellent! Would definitely recommend for a date night or a nice meal out

When someone finally acknowledged us, we were just told to "wait." Ten minutes later, we checked in again, only to be told that our table was still occupied, with no real update or apology. Trying to make the best of it, we went to the bar to order a drink while we waited, but the bartender responded with an attitude and told us "the host will be with you soon" -- which had nothing to do with the fact that we were simply trying to get a drink while we stood there waiting. It was an unnecessary brush-off. We were finally seated over 30 minutes after our reservation, and placed our full order right away, hoping to make up for lost time. But then the cheese board took another 30 minutes to arrive. When we asked, we were told there was some kind of miscommunication -- again, no real ownership or urgency. Then came the main course. I ordered the bavette steak medium rare, but what I got was clearly rare and chewy, as the photo shows. When I mentioned it, the waitress did say it looked maybe on the rare side to her but also that Bavette can come out like that looking red - but Undercooked and poorly prepared is not a feature of the cut. We didn't want to wait longer so just ate some. To be fair, our waitress was kind and acknowledged the issues, but it was one of the most frustrating "high-end" dining experiences I've had. At these prices and with this reputation, you expect better service, better pacing, and food cooked properly. Instead, it felt like we were an afterthought the entire night.

Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the kitchen. At one point, I noticed servers handling bread with their hands and then bringing out food without washing them, which was honestly unpleasant to see while sitting at my table. It made the overall experience feel less comfortable than it should have been. I'd still come back for the food, but I really hope the service and hygiene standards improve.

We were seated by the window and were given freshly baked bread. We ordered the French classics: mussels, escargot, duck leg confit, and steak and fries. The mussels came out first and were pretty average. I usually like sipping the wine broth it comes with or dipping fries/bread into the broth. The escargot had plenty of oil and seasoning. It was actually too salty even though my coworker requested less salt on everything. I enjoyed dipping the fresh bread into the oil. Lastly came the entrees. I was a bit disappointed in both of them. The hanger steak was cooked medium rare like I wanted but the texture was not great. I was hoping for a more tender cut and this was a bit tough and lean. The frites were cooked well and very crispy. The duck confit was very tender but I didn't think it was amazing. Overall I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant with so many other great options around. I might be biased as I am not too familiar with French cuisine but we already sampled most of the classics already.

I ordered UberEats from them before and was blown away by the tremendous offerings and generous portions. I decided to dine in and it was even better! The restaurant is located on the busy Northern Blvd between Morgan and Glenwood. The inside has a 19th century French ambiance, decorated with French posters, carpeted floors and a cozy warm dining area. Don't worry about the never ending traffic noise, commotion , and construction coming from outside. The calm and peaceful ambiance along with the music playing in the restaurant canceled out all the exterior noise. I opted in for their lunch buffet, which offered a ton of food for an amazing $18.95 deal which you can hardly find in this day and age. The restaurant gave a nice basket of warm bread with a generous amount of butter in a ramekin followed by a really good Tunisian salad with a little bit of everything. (fresh greens, cooked carrots, chickpea salad, diced cucumbers peppers and their take on the Ratatouille-- really good) I was given the option of getting their daily soup or the French Onion Soup with an up charge. I took the French option soup without any hesitation. Last time I had a good French onion soup was back when I attended college in upstate. Glad I got to try the one from here. The onion soup has an abundance of flavor with a generous amount of melted cheese and onions. The buffet selections were at the table. It came with two entrees (a chicken and a beef) cooked vegetables, mussels, mixed rice, cheese selection and slices bread cake. The entrees vary each day so be sure to call in and check. The chicken was moist, and juicy, served with a mushroom gravy. Similar to a Chicken Marsala dish. The stewed beef with mushrooms was nice and soft. The veggies included carrots and onions. The mussels were cooked to perfection, simmered in a nice buttery sauce. The meal also includes a cup of coffee or tea. What a great way to finish the meal. Marie was super nice and friendly. She gave me some insights on the food and the different menus they have on different days. A great establishment going strong for 47 years! Thank you Marie for everything. The majority of their wine list is French wine, which is great, because they definitely isn't always the case with French restaurants. The French onion soup was quite good. So was the filet au poive. The raspberry tart was nothing special, just dough and raspberry jam, I wouldn't order it again. Everything else was great though and I'd definitely come here again!
