Recently, the door stopped opening, barely lifting an inch before shutting down. I called four top-rated local companies, told them I thought I might need two springs, and asked them to come inspect and offer quotes: Companies 1 & 2: Recommended replacing the spring with two new springs, quoting $750 up to $1,400 for high-cycle spring packages (almost the cost of a brand-new door). Company 3: Quoted slightly less for two springs, but very honestly suggested just adding one new spring for still even less at $450. Garage Door Man: I spoke with Jim, who noted that a standard 16x7 single-layer door usually only needs one spring. A technician came out the next day, diagnosed that the 3-year-old spring was fine, and simply added torsion to rebalance it. Total cost: $125 with a 90-day labor warranty. While a dual-spring setup might offer backup redundancy, my garage has a side door and two cars parked outside anyway. Rebalancing saved me hundreds--huge appreciation for their honesty and fair pricing!

Second Opinion Garage Door Repair - Broken spring

Thomas came out promptly, diagnosed the problem right away, and clearly explained what had failed and what our options were. Rather than simply replacing the original enclosed spring system, he converted the door to a more serviceable external torsion-spring setup, which made a lot of sense for the long term. He was knowledgeable, straightforward, efficient, and never tried to upsell us into anything unnecessary. The price was very fair, especially for a Sunday emergency call, and the work was completed professionally. It's a relief to find someone who is competent, honest, and easy to deal with when something suddenly goes wrong. I would absolutely call Thomas and Second Opinion again and would recommend him without hesitation.

He was very friendly from the start. He asked me for some additional information and to send some picture and videos which helped him out. He then gave me some available appointments, I picked one, and he gave me a 2 hour time window to arrive. He texted when he was on his way and it he arrived right in the middle of that window. Then right on queue, while demonstration the problem, the door problem got worse and then would not even go up. Thomas asked me several questions to help determine which was the best option, from several options that he presented. I found that to be very helpful and I appreciate that. He gave me some price estimates, told me how it would take, and he waved the $30 service call. He did a lot of work for me and finished before the time range that he quoted. He fixed the door motor issue, put in a new wall button, new keypad, new wheels, and lubricated and adjusted the door. He was also nice and helped me repair a broken ladder with some parts that he had on him. The whole experience was great, from soup to nuts. Thomas was funny, reliable, efficient, trustworthy, and went above and beyond. I highly recommend his company to anyone.

The whole experience with Easy Open was... easy…read more We recently had our old screw drive (installed in 2005 by previous homeowners) Liftmaster completely fail. The light flickered nonstop and the unit refused to even attempt functioning. I ordered a brand new jack shaft/side opener off Amazon and was going to try installing myself. But then I discovered our garage door was super unbalanced (the spring had lost a lot of tension I guess). This would likely make the new opener unable to function, and garage door springs are not safe for a DIYer to mess with, so I was stuck and decided to call in the professionals. I reached out to a few businesses on Yelp, and... Pros: They responded quickly to my Yelp request with an actual estimate (only company who did) They stuck to their estimated schedule, arriving right in the middle of it Devin is an awesome guy and a super skilled installer who knows what he's doing and more importantly: cares about doing it well! He was really friendly, worked quickly (took about 90 mins altogether for everything), took care of all the little details, cleaned up the area when he was done, and walked me through all the operations of our new door opener at the end. We chatted a bit as he worked and had a pretty good time while still getting everything done blazingly fast. Easy Open accepted Zelle for payment which is super convenient for those of us who never have cash and don't know where their checkbook is! Cons: None, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone who asks. I'll definitely be calling them when we have any more garage door related needs!

The technician Max came out to install the new door, he was fast and professional. It was a great experience from the beginning to the end, no complaints at all. Call EODC for your garge door need. And if I choose to go ahead with repairs after the inspection, the $49 would go towards the repair cost. A technician arrived very quickly. After a quick inspection, he determined we needed to replace the torsion spring. I asked for a quote, and after typing into his iPad for quite a while he showed me an invoice that simply said "Springs $704". When I scrolled down, I saw he also added $49 for the visit. When I asked him why I was being charged separately for the visit, he mumbled that's the standard visit cost, and then said "oh let me check my notes", then took off the $49. I asked why replacing the spring would cost $700 when my research indicated spring replacement should cost around $250-500. He insisted $700 was the typical industry cost. I immediately called two other companies, both of them quoted me $250-450 for spring replacement. At this point, my husband came home and again asked the technician why he's giving us a quote that's double what other places charge. The technician then try to throw out some jargon about how we require some special spring at a special size. We told him we will not be continuing with the replacement and paid $49 for the visit. As the technician was leaving, he kept going on about how he will send me the quote with details on the springs to show us how it's special. Yeah, I never received anything from him. We went with another company, who came out an hour later and replaced the springs for $450. Always do your own research on how much things should cost!
