I wholeheartedly recommend ATC Construction. Here's my story. My wife and I wanted to replace our old, wooden, decaying patio cover. I sketched out a design for the new one. It had to be longer and wider, and it had to be of redwood construction. NOT aluma wood or any other synthetic fabrication. My design was a clean, squared configuration - with no curves or decorative curlicues. During fall 2024, I searched Yelp for a contractor for the job. I ran into two main problems. Many patio cover contractors: 1) only use aluma wood - no natural wood; and 2) only did their own designs - no customer concepts accepted ("Youre gonna take our design and you're gonna like it.") I was surprised and disappointed that my vision for a simple redwood patio cover was just not acceptable to many of the busy contractors on Yelp. Then I was contacted (through Yelp) by Cory Robertson of ATC Construction. He came by the house and we discussed my concept sketches for the new patio cover. I got the feeling that Cory enjoyed working with wood for these kinds of projects. He was enthusiastic about the project and had many useful suggestions that improved and tightened the design. I got on Cory's calendar but I had to wait a few months. When the date rolled around, the ATC crew arrived early and promptly went to work. Justin acted as foreman and directed the work. Justin is an expert communicator. He kept us informed through the various stages of the project. He and his main work partner, Matthew, are genuine craftsmen who are masters with wood. In addition to the main components of the structure, they added many beautiful design flourishes that enhanced and beautified the new patio cover. Many other helpers joined the work at various stages. All were respectful, hard workers, and of good cheer. The project lasted 7-8 days. There were no added charges. All work was performed within the financial limits of our original agreement. We love our new redwood patio cover. As a result, I enthusiastically recommend ATC Construction without reservation. Six-month follow-up Good news. A problem developed with the patio cover. They fixed it. After a few months, we noticed large blotches on the finish of the structure. We notified ATC Construction. Right away, they sent Justin to assess the problem. Justin immediately assigned several workers to fix the problem. The workers spent several days preparing the structure for an upgraded finishing coat. After the upgraded finish was applied, the blotches were gone, and the rich color of natural redwood showed through. No charge for this extensive, additional work. We want to stress that during all phases of this project, ATC Construction expressed a sincere and unwavering commitment to high quality craftsmanship, and to our satisfaction as customers. read more

It is so refreshing to work with a super honest contractor! I requested an estimate from Cory to fix our pergola that our window installer had blamed for a leak around one of our windows. Cory immediately told me that it wasn't actually the pergola causing the leak (rather it was a faulty window install), even though that meant that there likely wouldn't be any work for him. Not only that, but he then spent another 15 minutes with me explaining his analysis in detail. They not only were one of the only ones that detailed out in their quote every piece that was needed, what the cost was and was up to code with everything. It was a big job for a 50x10' deck and we found that when it was built in the 80's it wasn't done right at all and we were having problems with the old deck leaking into our family room. I spent thousands on band-aids over the years. I wish I had hired ATC a few years ago. These guys work fast, are courteous and they actually enjoy their work and it showed each day. I have used many contractors over the years and no one was like ATC. They finished the deck last Friday just before the big rains and they finished 3 days early. Imagine that. ATC sent a small crew to repair termite damage. They were hard working and considerate of our privacy despite the need to remove and replace a lot of wood fascia. Price was fair and about half of what the termite company wanted to charge for less work. Original Review 2/12/2020 We contacted various construction companies to get estimates to repair dry rot and termite damage. The majority of the dry rot was on exposed roof rafters of our "Spanish" style eaves and wooden window trim. Almost everyone who came out just wanted to fill and paint the damage. When Cory (the owner of ATC) came out, we discussed various options. Never was there any pressure. The option we elected was cutting back the exposed beams and adding a solid fascia on the eaves. Cory asked us for the paint brand and colors to match the house perfectly. Besides updating the look of our house, he eliminated the direct exposure of the wood beams to the elements. Even though this was an extensive task, his three man crew completed the job (demolition; cut backs; various window trims, termite damage; priming; painting and hauling away all the debris daily) in 4 1/2 days. We have now been talking with a Cory, to undertake the replacement of two patio covers. So impressed are we with his previous work, we will not be entertaining any other companies or bids. read more

After hearing that our deck was going to need major repairs as a support joist was rotting out, I got tired of throwing money into the pit and decided to call a pro to weather proof our deck. Cory came out and gave me a very reasonable quote that same day. I was very pleased with the quote especially after being told by several other people that it couldn't be done (they said that they would have to raise the door 4 inches). I told Cory that story and he laughed and said they could easily plane the wood to get the grade we needed for the water to run off the balcony. The overall 30"x10" patio cover looks great but I was not happy with the cleanup ; there was a lot of sawdust left behind and they also did not point out to me that they mis-drilled into my concrete while positioning 2 of the the support legs (there were 8 drill holes left in the concrete). I mentioned this to Corey as soon as I noticed this and he had one of his guys out first thing the next morning to fix it (you can not ever see the mistake now). I couldn't recommend ATC Construction more highly. After having some termite work done at my home it was recommended that I do some maintenance on my roof fascia. I received an estimate from the termite company which was fairly high. I got estimates from 2 other termite companies for the roof fascia work and they also seemed high. I called 3 roofers for estimates and 2 of them indicated that they didn't want the job and one gave me a reasonable estimate. After looking through yelp I contacted ATC Construction because it appeared that they did fascia work along with other construction. Cory came out and inspected my fascia. He gave me a very reasonable estimate and seemed to know what he was talking about. I hired ATC and they just finished the work today. It took 4 days to complete the work. Donny, Daryl, and Gideon were on time each day and put in a full days work each day. They worked very hard and were easy to deal with. They did a really good job on my fascia and I am sure that they did a better job than the termite companies would have. The amount was exactly what Cory quoted and I couldn't be more satisfied with ATC. They have my highest recommendation. read more

I also can speak from experience having two different types of covers; one made from Alumawood and the other from real wood. Both came out PERFECT and are exactly what I wanted!
