After waiting without receiving anything, I followed up with Arturo by text and was told that he would send the quote later that day. Four days passed, and I still did not receive the written estimate or any update. I sent another follow-up message and received no response at all. The only positive part of my experience was communicating with their staff, Abigail. The person responding to my texts, who I believe was Abigail, was responsive and helpful whenever I reached out to the company's main number. Unfortunately, despite her responsiveness, I still had difficulty getting the information I needed from the technician assigned to my project. I understand that delays can happen, but timely communication and following through on commitments are important. Based on my experience, I was disappointed by the lack of responsiveness and would encourage the company to improve communication between their technicians and potential customers.

The test revealed that the leak was actually come from an outdoor outlet instead of the deck. In other words, if I had used any of the other contractors I would have paid over $10K and the leak would not have been repaired. I got the outlet sealed and the deck resealed and Westcoast's work was immaculate. They completed it punctually and even came back to put back all the furniture. Thank you! In the end, we came up with a plan that was viable and as aesthetically pleasing as could be managed given the situation. Once the job began, the primary person of contact shifted to Julio, one of their project managers. He was on property every day supervising and working alongside his crew. The crew was very polite, hard-working and friendly. They were very well supported by Julio. This may seem like a given, but often it is not so it did stand out to me. Once all of the work was done, Julio gave me a final walk-through, showing me how the various components function and made certain that I did not have any lingering questions. I think there were two follow up visits after the work was completed in order to accomplish this. There was no point along the way where I felt like they were taking shortcuts, using materials that were inferior quality, or anything of that nature. Their concrete cuts were incredible, and I have seen some really bad cuts in my past. We made the mistake of trusting a company to build our balcony deck (5 years ago) that did not use the proper waterproofing steps. Our deck showed rotting wood underneath and around the posts as well as a cracking deck coating. Trust me, you do not want to try and save money and cut corners when it comes to waterproofing and the metal flashing, we have learned our lesson. Ryan gave us a bid that came with a 5-year warranty on his work. He was very professional, gave a bid the same day, was straight forward, and honest. His experienced work crew was prompt daily and left the job site immaculate every day. They wore their masks the entire day even though they never set foot in my home, I certainly wouldn't expect this from them. The damage was worse than expected but Ryan stood by the original bid. Not enough people realize how difficult it is to have a 4+ star rating with over 25 reviews..... But after speaking with Robert, I understand why that is. The first thing you should do is look at the photo gallery on their website to get a sense of the work they do. Attention to detail is the first thing that I notice. Robert comes across as earnest, hard-working, direct, and easy to speak with. That last observation is no small thing. I've had nightmare experiences working with people who were indeed skilled, but were awful to work with. That won't be the case here :) read more

We chose Monarch Decking to repair an upper story 11' x 7' deck after getting four other quotes and explanations as to what would be required to effect the repair and we are so happy we did. We are very happy with the multi-layer system they installed including new plywood, expanded metal mesh, two layers of concrete, and a few layers of waterproof texture coating (this is all I remember, there may have been more). I couldn't have asked for a better look. Unfortunaetly, one section of the concrete after 5 months had some weird distortion discoloration in an area that didn't look like the rest of the finish. He came out and said this isn't right, let me put you on my job list and I'll fix it. He had never seen such an reaction. He stands by his work and came out a month later, stripped the sealer, redid the whole section, matching his prior work. I couldn't be happier with the results. I would reccomend him to anyone. Top flight work! My deck needed resealing due to maintenance. I also had a leak. Two other…read morecontractors gave me quotes for over $10k without doing any testing. Jose came through said he wanted to do a water test for a nominal fee that would be applied to the total work. He did the test. The test revealed that the leak was actually come from an outdoor outlet instead of the deck. In other words, if I had used any of the other contractors I would have paid over $10K and the leak would not have been repaired. I got the outlet sealed and the deck resealed and Westcoast's work was immaculate. They completed it punctually and even came back to put back all the furniture. Thank you! Jose was quick to respond and come out for an initial estimate. After receiving a few competitive bids, we felt most comfortable with Jose's team and moved forward. When the team began work by removing some of the balcony planks, they realized that there would be a more efficient fix that would provide the same leak protection at a lower price. I don't know many companies that would be that transparent and honest. Jose and his team clearly care enough to do the very best job at a reasonable cost.
