I didn't know quite what to expect but I was glad *something* finally went into the massive, empty store across from Meijer. My mom had scoped out the name, as a gardener, and was excited to visit... It was decidedly less garden-based than we thought it would be...I'm not exactly sure what would be a better name...because their merchandise runs the gammet. When we first went, in the fall, it was decked out for Christmas. There were literally Christmas trees in every color from white and green to black and orange! If you ever wanted an orange tree, I'm not sure where else you could get it. However, a quick perusal of their ornaments and decorations had my mom shaking her head. She wasn't about to pay "that much" for just one ornament. We looked at candles, kitchen decor, wall hangings, rugs, photo frames, books, patio furniture...a seemingly endless mixture, without finding something we really needed. I probably wouldn't have ventured back unless I knew what I was looking for..yesterday, I was looking for a snowman garden pick and I was hoping they would have them on sale. They did, but the seasonal things were clearing out quickly. I can imagine I'll be back for large photo frames and to see if the garden supplies come in when the weather warms up! read more

Woah. Upon entering I thought "what is this place?" It is very similar to hobby lobby -- but without the crafts. You'll probably find some interesting pieces, artwork, figurines. But because of their lack of promotions and sales, you'd probably find a better deal at the hobby lobby down the street. read more

I wish this place were closer to my house-I'd go more often! I agree it can be hit or miss-sometimes I walk out empty handed, other times I find a lot. I would describe this place as a quirky mix between Big Lots, HomeGoods, and Hobby Lobby. read more

I've been here a few times, mostly during the decorating phase of my new house. This time I was looking for a wine rack / liquor cabinet but almost every one I liked had some kind of crack, dent or scratch to it. There was no price reduction either. I left very disappointed because I had money to spend but couldn't. Will return, but for the small stuff. read more

I LOVE this store. Countless decorative, novelty items, bedding, even furniture. I would say that the furniture is on the cheaper end of the spectrum both in price as well as quality but, hey, you get what you pay for. Be prepared for hours of browsing. I was able to do more than half of my Christmas list here last year. Garden Ridge is a chain store from the south where it's pretty well known. I recommend this store because they have an EXCELLENT variety of products, the store is clean amd for the size, very well organized. I haven't seen any advertising for it, so it's always a smooth ride, not a lot of customers, but no customers also equates to few employees but the few they have have helped when I've needed it! read more

I needed help with an exchange of my bedside table. I called and spoke with a staff member (Bettie or Betty). She was incredibly kind and helpful. She knew I was driving from over 1.5 hour away to get my product therefore she made sure it was there. I saw her walking around circling the store asking customers if they needed help or assistance (which is rare now days in retail) My exchange was a success , the young gentleman who completed the transaction was also the one who assisted in getting the item off the top shelf with no complaint. We ended up spending 162 additional dollars at this location. Definitely a two thumbs up ! Bettie you are great! read more

Garden Ridge beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst customer service ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went there one day on my way home from work, in their clearance section they had a wicker rocking chair with a scratched up leg for 1/2 off sounded like a great deal. I brought it to the front paid for it brought it out to my car and much to my dismay it wouldn't fit, I saw if I took the rockers off it would go in easily. Returned to the store asked to borrow a screw driver and was told that wasn't their store policy I saw worker assembling furniture and asked if I could ask them again was told no and was advised that when I go shopping I should be prepared! Needless to say returned my items and wrote to corporate with out response. I will never ever shop there again. I give the store a year tops!! DESERVES NO STARS read more

I grew up in Texas and Garden Ridge was one of my favorite places to go with my mom and younger sisters when I was little, so to see one up here, I have to say I was pretty excited. However, that all changed when I actually went into the store. I purchased a headboard a while back. The headboards are in boxes and stacked. Well I was alone so I slid one down off the stack and proceeded to find someone to help me take it up to the front. Two guys passed me and one of them started to put the headboard I just slid off the stack back up. I quickly told them I wanted to purchase that but needed help taking it to the front and I kid you not, the guy said, "We have baskets at the front for that." I was shocked! They walked off and I went to the front to have someone call for help. I was so furious. A women comes with a cart that is used to carry mattresses. We struggle to get it in the cart, I roll it up to the front of the store by myself, pay, and leave without anyone helping me load it in the car. I probably should have told them where they could stick the headboard but with limited funds, it was a good deal that I didn't want to pass up. That was a little over 2 years ago and since then I have only been in there a couple times when I am bored and find myself over in that area. Aside from my experience, the place is unique. After reading some reviews, people don't really get the place and that is OK since this place is fairly new up in this area. They have odds and ends and some unique items. I do think their prices are fair. They have tons of rugs, pictures, kitchen supplies, floral, etc... Oh and great selection during the holidays. I gave this store specifically two stars due to my experience with the lack of help with the headboard I purchased. I would give the company as a whole 4. read more

Good store to go and buy everything you need for your house. from beds to everything else the more people get to know about the store the better its for the store and the buyer. This a store for people not trying to spend to much on things for the house. i think that this a wonderful store cause you might think its junk but the things in here are already at there low price. if you really think about they have to make money for the things in the store and bills on top of it. but not evening that they have to pay the workers. the only thing that took off a little is that works can't not take a tip. when they help on load something for that kind of sucks for them. plz read and go to the garden ridge in aurora il. the ONLY reason i'm giving this place 2 stars instead of ZERO is because they truly have some great finds. (if you don't mind digging.) i truly think there are only 2 employees in this entire store (it is GIANT inside. think- warehouse) while they do have some great steals, some things are horrifically overpriced; $20 for a throw pillow, i can get the same at target for $12. The store is dirty, disorganized, and you're on your own if you have a question. i spent quite a bit of time here this past weekend, and made the unfortunate mistake of attempting to use the rest room. 7 stalls, all with putrid things in the toilet, on the seats, and floor. as if no one had looked in this bathroom for weeks. as far as checking out, if you can even figure out where it is, is very strange. there's one counter, with no room to load your things. basically the girl at the counter, watched me struggle trying to unload several large things from my cart, did not offer to wrap any of the many breakable items i purchased, and did not speak one "hello" "thank you" or "have a nice day." totally annoying. if not for some of the great finds in this store, i would love to say i'll never return, however there's always homegoods! read more

The worst customer service I have EVER experienced! I paid cash for candles that I purchased. I lost my receipt so I was told that I cannot return any items without my paper receipt. I asked for store credit, they said no. I asked to even exchange the candles for a different color and they said no. DO NOT SHOP AT GARDEN RIDGE! read more

Horrible! Went to buy a couch. It was damaged so it was non-returnable. When we tried to put it in my SUV the seat was stuck and wouldn't go down (my fault, not the stores). They told me I had to take it. I couldn't return it and I couldn't leave it there. My husband had to leave work with his truck to go pick it up because the store said they were no longer responsible for it and if it wasn't there when we came back it was not their fault. I called to tell them he was on his way but there is no way to reach any people when calling the number. A recording says to contact them through their web-site! The manager was not nice to his employees either. All the employees were very nice and the cashier said she would keep an eye on it for me. I won't be going back. read more

The CUSTOMER NO SERVICE is horrible......they are the rudest people ever....the managers are by far the rudest. Most of the prices are mismarked and they have the nerve to tell me that it's the shoppers who do this, included a 8 x 10 rug which was rolled and priced with tape that only an employee could have done. I have gone three times once by myself and twice with other people and have never walk out with anything because of the managers. Seriously, one manager [DAWN] said oh well you not buying something doesn't effect me.t. Well I hope this does something. There is no where else you can place a complaint or even call someone. Crossed this store off my list tonight! I went in to find some Christmas lights - the outside "net" type for my bushes, and I knew the exact ones I wanted to match the ones from last year, since I checked their website. Even tho it said they were in stock at this particular store, they didn't have them. However, I wandered around for about an hour, looking around, I did find some baskets that I liked pretty much, but I wanted four and they only had 2. I went up and down several nearby aisles to find somebody who worked there, to ask if they might have any more in the back, but not a soul was around. I did find a few things, tho, and probably had $35 or $40 in my basket when I decided to call it quits. Walking around to the enclosed area where you check out, I was walking toward the sign that read "Wait here for the next available cashier," (which was kind of funny, since there were no other customers there but me) and I got a phone call. As I was standing there, fishing around in my purse for the phone, the guy at the check-out counter looked at me and walked away. I quickly ended my call, but the cashier was gone. I stood there waiting for him to come back for 13 minutes, and decided I didn't need any of that junk that bad, I left the full basket right next to the sign and walked out the door. The cashier was leaning up against the building talking on his cell phone! Cheap merchandise with cheap prices just doesn't make up for inconsideration in my book. Done. read more

While I love the fact that Garden Ridge has almost everything you could think of, I think it's a little overwhelming. As a couple people mentioned it has the weirdest layout that doesn't really flow. My biggest complaint is the employees. They basically don't give a crap about you. I bought a table there once, asked a few questions regarding it since I was about to spend $300, and the answers I got from the employee didn't make sense nor did she seem like she even wanted to be there. Also I had to ask for help loading it, so me and a female employee loaded the table (very heavy table) while a couple dudes sat inside. Last night really put me over the edge, I bought two wine glasses, and the cashier asked if I wanted them as is or wrapped in paper. Uhhh really? I said I wanted them wrapped so they didn't break, and he looked at me like I was supposed to wrap them myself...really dude? After the checkout he didn't say thank you or anything besides handing me a receipt and a giant bag with two glasses inside (even though I had 3 other things he neglected to bag). Overall this place isn't that cheap and the customer service is nonexistent. read more

If you Love the worst Customer service ever, and absolutely no help you are at the right place......there favorite line being, NO WE CAN'T DO THAT! If you can find an employee. Bring a Shepherd with a good nose if your looking for a Manager. Although I did find one once, not that it mattered she obviously trained the employees because her answer was, NO WE CAN'T DO THAT!! I tried to exchange a couple of cushions that I was given as a gift. I brought them in to the store in the time limit given for returns. Tags on the cushion and the receipt. I wanted to exchange them for the larger more expensive cushions. Answer you can guess it: NO WE CAN'T DO THAT!! Can I speak with a Manager, Surprise Not available I am sure the poor thing is hiding somewhere I would if I were them. I then asked can I have an in store credit, NO WE CAN'T DO THAT! I can go on, there are some nice products, in a very poorly orgainized set up store. With the worst store policies and customer service I have ever experienced. If there is a cooperate office and you read these get to the store quick and fix it. I have never had a store refuse to take my money more often. Your employees when you can find one are depressed zombies. HELP YOUR OWN COMPANY THEY NEED IT DESPERATELY!! read more
