Believe it or not, the service here was SO bad we had to CALL THE COPS! I place the blame entirely on the incredibly hostile, arrogant and unprofessional assistant manager. I would gladly go to the DMV 100 times before I would go back to this AT&T store!
I went to get a phone upgrade for my wife, and the clerk said transferring what was on her old phone to the new one was no problem. After the paperwork was done, he tried to transfer my wife's photos, and found the new phone's memory wasn't big enough to hold them. He then tried uploading them to the AT&T Cloud Locker, but it was agonizingly slow. So I said I'd drive home and get my laptop to put them on. He said fine, you can't use your laptop in the store because of liability issues, but you can go to the cafe next door and download them. So I drove about an hour round-trip to get my laptop. When I got back it was 30 minutes until closing, so I asked the clerk if he could hand me the phone so I could get started. He said I had to wait until he was done with another customer. The assistant manager was standing behind the clerk doing nothing, so I asked if she could get it for me. She said no, I had to wait. By now I'm looking at my watch and getting upset. Then the clerk says, "you can't take the phone anywhere, you don't own it anymore, we do."!!! I reminded him he said I could take it next door, and the assistant manager told me she didn't like my tone and I had to leave. So I left - without my old phone OR my new one! I sent my wife in to see if they would let her download her pictures - 2 years of our family's life - and she said, "well, I could, but your husband is a jerk, so NO." She said they were still uploading the pictures to the cloud, but she wasn't going to plug in the phone, so when the battery dies, "that's all you'll get."
I called AT&T corporate customer service, and they were appalled. I said maybe I should call the cops and report our pictures stolen. They said, "I guess that's all you can do!"
So we went over and filled out a police report. A very fine officer listened to our story, and drove over to the store twice to talk to them. He assured us that they would plug in the phone, and he told the assistant manager he would be back to check on the situation when he got on duty the next day.
That night, my wife got a call from the officer, who gave us the phone number for the store manager, who asked us to meet him at the store in the morning. When we got there he was completely deadpan, but he did let us download the pictures onto our laptop in the store, and transferred my wife's contacts and phone numbers to the new phone.
