WHY DOES AT&T ADVERTISE ITSELF AS GREAT SERVICE, IF THE AT&T U-VERSE TV DOESN'T WORK AT ALL? then they think they have a right to charge you $55 just for some possibly incompetent technician to come out and fix it, when it hasn't worked for even ONE little hour???
Received a letter in the mail from AT&T several months ago, they were offering a "bundle" package, i.e. phone, tv, & internet for $89!
Though it was twice the amount of our present internet/tv provider it seemed like a good deal since they had many more TV station and they claimed the u-verse internet was lightning quick!
However, our present internet/tv we'd just signed up with and they allowed us only 30 days to cancel, otherwise we'd get hit with a huge $150 cancellation fee.
Well, the manager said the u-verse might not work at our home, but also said that $89 was too low a price, it was going to be $20 more since he had to pay his employees at his store! The zip code there is 06033
I'm thinking What?? The letter AT&T sent us, actually posted the exact store I was at, and talking to the manager with, on their brochure!
So, right away that's false advertisement. Also, we had to wait half the summer, with NO TV at all, except one little local station, on our tiny little 9 inch tv set, since we had to turn off our present subscriber or be forced to pay $150 in fines, and had NO internet at all.
Now having NO internet, was not only a hassle from hades, it cost us over $200 in gas, to get to public computers, since we have to get our work assignments online and gas is so expensive, over $4 a gallon in CT all summer long! Plus all the work assignment I missed out on, and could have easily made $200-$400 on, since my company sends me work online.
I agreed to sign up for u-verse, but they told me they'd have someone at our place between 1-3... come 2:56 pm. the tech guy FINALLY shows up, but he instantly tells me that he'd got to go to ANOTHER home and take care of something and he'll be back half an hour later!
WTH! I mean, really.. waited around half the day, couldn't go to work, I actually turned down a well paying job assignment that would have paid me $75 that day my company badly wanted me to take, to wait til nearly 4 pm to get this u-verse set up.
Well, it took him nearly 5 hours to do so.. since he had to wait inline on his laptop computer and we literally took a half hour walk, while he was out in his truck, recharging his laptop, since the AT&T service was taking so long so get back to him.
Also, we were originally only going to have ONE receiver, in the family room, where all the comfortable furniture is, and which has a large 26 inch tv in it... We decided to get an extra one, but that had to go into a tiny room, which only has a 9 inch tv in it...
He hooked everything up, includig the internet, but did tell me he was suposed to hook up one system first, but didn't! Eek.... however everyting was running just fine, when he left and we were going thru various tv station on our nice big TV in the family room, happy campers at that point!
Now, we left our place briefly, and returned only about 45 minutes later, and the TV signal in our family room was not working AT ALL!!!
It showed instead a message saying Client Unprovisioned, whatever that means.... and since it was so late, we had to call the 800 number for AT&T which the brochure said provided 24/7 service.
However, all we got was a robot who kept saying our tech support is closed down now, it's after 10 pm, and you'll need to call back the next day!
Good god.. when I finally got a hold of someone, they kept asking us all these personal questions instead of just our account number, wouldn't even give us their full name (is this Verizon I'm speaking to??) and then hung up on us, without even fixing the problem.
Long story short, we called AT&T on the phone & also trying to go online with them, via their chat session "support" help line, from 10 pm to 3 am!
Considering how long we had to wait to get the "service " hooked up in the first place, this is an outrage!
Plus too, the tv signal that WAS working, in the tiny room with hardly NO furniture in it at all, on a tiny 9 inch tv set, was turned OFF by the online tech support people several times and posted a message "TELEVISION SIGNAL LOST"
Honestly now I'm AFRAID to even TRY to contact AT&T.
I called the store at zip 06033 and the customer service rep put me on a conference call with a girl named Josselyn who told me, after she coudn't fix the non-working TV signal, that, I'd have to call a service tech who would HAVE to come out to our place again, and that we "MAY" be charged a $55 fee for getting our receiver to work again!
Now, it doesn't even cost $55 for the tv service for a month anyway, since we went with the basic tv package.
They don't have the RIGHT to charge us $55 for repairs that didn't work for more than an HOUR to start with, on a TV receiver in a room we normally stay! read more
