On May 31, 2025, I visited the AT&T store at 117 Walnut Street, Cary, NC, and provided written instructions to transfer a personal number, (919-395-4568), to a separate business account. Instead, the agent set up a new iPhone with the business number using a different number and also added a free iPad and Apple Watch to the business account. We have written proof of our instructions. It cost nearly $ 4,000.00 (the cost of moving all lines and equipment to T-Mobile) to release my business number and pay for items I did not request. This was not a mistake but a deliberate act of deception and fraud by this store agent and AT&T Mobility. I am pursuing remedies through the proper regulatory agencies. THIS IS THE WORST WIRELESS COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. If there was a rating below 1, I would use it. read more

The staff here is useless, and AT&T's corporate processes are broken. My employer released my work number to me as a personal line. The online process failed. Customer service told me to go to the store. At the store, the manager tried the same steps on my phone, hit the same error, then said he'd get his iPad. He never came back. Instead, another employee appeared, admitted he didn't know the process, and offered only excuses: "new system," "account too big," "call the business liaison." No one could solve a basic problem. First, the OnSite Assurion Tech Rep (working in the back) was amazing. However, the AT&T staff in the store/front were literally useless and had an attitude. We usually have a great experience, but their Sunday weekend team seems to have limited understanding of their products, offerings, or contracts. Walked in at 3:30 and was told i needed an appointment to get a new screen protector (which would take 10 minutes max). I made an appointment for 4:30 and came back an hour later. At 4:30, I was in the store, where I waited for 30 more minutes before I was finally approached by a worker. He asked if I had been checked in and I told him no, but that I had an appointment at 4:30. He confirmed that I did and when I thought he was about to help me, he walked over to the people next to me and asked what they needed. They were not checked in and did not have an appointment, yet he helped them before me. I assumed this would be quick but it was not. I waited again until 5:30, when a different worker asked if I had been helped. When I told him I had an appointment at 4:30, he apologized, and mentioned that the other worker that had talked to me previously never even checked me in. The person who helped me was really nice and quick, but I was already so frustrated that nothing could have made this better. Overall, they need better communication and service when it comes to appointments (if you are going to require them). read more

So yesterday the trucks were once again in my neighborhood. As soon as I saw them I snapped a pic (got one of two trucks) and sent it to my hubs with the caption..."not one but two trucks! ‍". He said oh great kiss your tv goodbye. So I did. So I have. As I will until late Saturday. Every time we see one of these trucks we know it will be hours without service. That was early yesterday. Well it still hasn't worked itself out so we decided to reach out to them for help. Brian, at the other end of my call, really needs to reconsider a job in customer service. I was called a liar (that I didn't see the trucks), told in a condescending way to use a hotpot (I actually have) and generally moreover just treated with disdain! I interrupted his day with my whining. We were on the phone for less than 5 minutes. It took him about 30 seconds to have an attitude with me and call me a liar after I told him it's upsetting they can come to my neighborhood and break everything but not come back to fix it. "You have no proof" (well actually Brian I do!). I know, having been in customer service for years, that it's not fair to treat someone badly. It's usually not their fault. (He wasn't driving the truck. The waitress didn't overcook your steak...you get me) On the other hand...if you aren't prepared to deal with stressed out/upset customers bc they their expensive service goes out OFTEN. A service this parent RELIES on for her kids homework...maybe, just maybe Brian you need to choose a different career choice! I tried to kill it with kindness but there was just one too many condescending/passive aggressive remarks and I hung up on him! Better that than sink to his level. 28 days per month everything is great. Until their trucks show up in our hood. Until we have a storm. Until someone sneezes wrong in the house. Most of the time it's an easy fix (for my hubs). When it does go bad and it's going to take you 4-5 days to come out, how about offering the customer a free movie rental instead of being condescending. I was surprised at my wait. I used to be with Sprint and always waited 1/2 or more. AT & T was less than 4 minutes. The lady took my info when I came through the door. I asked how long of a wait I would have, she said see that screen, when your name comes up you will be taken care of. I looked at the screen and my name popped up. The attendant called me by name and answered all my questions about new phone plans. He also thanked me for coming by and gave me a card and Said, if I think of anymore questions just give him a call. This store is big, bright and the displays are excellent. You have a greeter at the door to assist you and expedite your visit. No hassle here, just straight quick answers. Good parking in front and around the side. They do share a parking lot with Mini's. If you told me yesterday that I was going to write a 5 Star review for ATT, I would have told you that you were a crack-head. The level of upsetting experiences I've had with ATT has been epic. The only reason I've stayed with them was because the service is for my elderly mother and brother who has autism, and change is stressful for both of them. My family has a long history of working in the phone industry and my father, aunts and uncles were a part of an organization called The Telephone Pioneers of America. I usually call, but yesterday decided to stop in on my way to the Apple Store to see what offers they had. Right off the bat, Gary gave me a decent handshake. Well done! If a man gives me a wet fish handshake...it is over. Gary listened to me and what I needed attentively. He told me about all the offers that were available and I ended up getting an iPhone (for Mom), cut her TV bill in half and got an iPad (for my brother). I never ended up going to Apple. There were so many considerations and complications, I was literally there for hours. It was nothing out of the ordinary, just all that passwords and set up stuff that ends up being like some crazy reality TV show. Another episode of What is my AppleID and password? Starring me! This guy was relentlessly dedicated to helping me. Relentless, relentless, relentless... The longer it went on, the more dedicated and patient he got. Truly un-be-lievable! I pretty much warned him the minute I walked in the door that I might turn into the Tasmanian Devil...which never happened luckily. The only other place that affects me like ATT is at TSA. Going from Orlando to Raleigh on Monday TSA told me that my sparkly tank top set off the sensor in the radar machine. Another time, they took away my yogurt because it was a "paste" and could be used to make an explosive. Well, I'm glad the government has that much faith in me, but I am nowhere near that capable. Anyway, if I had one observation to make about this interaction is that it is proof that... One person CAN make a difference... and it is definitely a noble and worthy goal to set out to be that ONE person who does. Since I live in AZ and only come to Cary twice a year at most, it is exceptionally helpful and most appreciated to have someone from whom I can depend for great service and genuine kindness. Stay away from this store. As of this review, there have been 2 instances where fraud has seemingly taken place with devices that I've purchased from this store. The first involved an iPhone upgrade that I've already written a review for. That was strike #1. In the end, things worked out and the store dropped the charges they were quoting me. Strike #2 was a few weeks ago. I've had an Apple Watch Series 3 (LTE) that I bought from this store and at one point it was on their cellular network. I eventually paid off the watch, cancelled my account, and moved to another carrier (Mint) that doesn't support cellular smart watches. No biggie. I don't need to activate it. I mainly use it for running anyway. So the watch has been paid off, not on a cell service for maybe a year, year and half. If it wasn't, ATT would not have allowed me to close my old account. Fast forward to 2019. I move all my devices to Verizon because although Mint is super cheap, it's coverage is lackluster. I figure, hey, I'm back on a carrier that supports watches, lets throw it on... Verizon tells me the watch has been blacklisted by AT&T. What? I spend the next two weeks calling into Customer Service, who start an investigation, they tell me to go to a corporate store to have it unblocked, the store is confused because they don't have that ability, back and forth, back and forth. Each side says it's the other sides responsibility. I even had one person say I needed to go to Apple (Spoiler alert, Apple can't. Only AT&T since they were the ones initiating the Blacklist). Eventually I call Customer Service again and get to a gentleman who seems to know what he's doing. He looks into the case, sees that it was blacklisted, sees that it was in error and says that a insurance claim was put in for my watch. He also says he sees that I, the customer, never had an insurance claim filed on my account. Weird. He gives me the number to his manager and says they're filing paperwork to get it unblocked. Great. I never hear back from them. I try calling the "manager", and never get anyone to pick up, leave messages, no callback. This all culminates to a call to Customer Service again, where I eventually get to a shift manager who says that though they have the ability to unblock blacklisted devices, they're not going to do it. I have a few choice words for her and give up the two week fight of getting my watch fixed. Stay away from this store. First, what seems to be a stolen trade in iphone, AT&T trying to charge me for it, and now a fraudulent "Lost or Stolen" insurance claim on a device that I bought from the same store, basically crippling it. read more

Wow great customer service. We came here on a Sunday to ask questions on the available phone plans. We were interested in either continuing our current plan or starting a new plan and purchasing new phones. Leighvonda Newsome immediately greeted us and started answering all of our questions. She clearly explained and compared plans and phones. They are currently not offering too many new customer deals, however, we will received $350 off our new phones with trade-ins and free HBO max with our internet. The AT&T system was not working properly (and AT&T was doing updates - out of the store's control) so it took longer than usual, but after about 3.5 hours we had set up new internet, started a new phone plan, and purchased new phones with cases and protective screens. One of the other employees there offered to help attach the protective screens. He placed it on perfectly. Leighvonda then showed me how to best insert the phone in the case. Overall, they were helpful, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I would recommend this location for your AT&T questions. read more

I called Anthony at Cary ATT and he said he would take care of me to come right in. I went to the store on Walnut street intending to buy an iPhone. I did not have an appointment but got helped right away. Covid-19 protocols seemed to be in place. My experience with the salesman was not good. He rushed me along and explained nothing. They did not have any phones in stock that were acceptable to me so I had to have it mailed to my home. I did not want this because I'd have to transfer info from my old phone myself. I'm old and this stresses me out. I asked if there was someone I could call for help. He said only if I bought insurance on my phone. I agreed as I figured I'd need help. He did not tell me how much it was or what it covered. At this point I'm not even sure I have insurance. He also told me about a deal for accessories. I thought he said by buying the phone I could have 3 accessories for free. When I got home I learned that I paid for two accessories and got one free. I got something for charging. He gave no instructions and there are no instructions in the box. Why? If something is different instructions are important. This fast talking salesman got a good commission with no customer service. He also had trouble getting my credit card to go thru. I knew he was doing something wrong because I pay my card in full every month and have plenty of credit. I still don't have a new phone. I hope it comes and I can get it working. ATT cut our UVerse fiber while installing our neighbors service Friday morning. We were promised it would be fixed by noon Saturday. It is now 12:40 Sunday and we have no guarantee on when it will be fixed. The store is large/open and has a large selection of wireless phones and other services (Uverse, DSL, home phone) on display. One stop shopping. I had a very poor customer experience today. When I walked in I overheard an employee quietly tell my sales person "cash only, cash only". I told my sales person that I wanted to get a prepaid Sim card. He took my information. And then after the 10 minute process he took my credit card. And stepped away. He came back a few minutes later. And said that he could not take anything but cash right now because the credit card system was not working. I understand that their credit card system might have started working since I first came in but he should have given me a warning at the point of time when he knew I was buying something. All he had to say is "no credit cards right now can you pay cash?" An hour after I left the store I called and spoke to the manager. I told the manager about my frustration. I told the manager also about how the sales person did not even tell me how to check my account and did not even ask which Exchange I wanted. I ended up with something other than 919. The manager did apologize but did not offer any kind of compensation for the poor customer service. I asked if I could give feedback to corporate and the manager said I needed to contact customer support but did not offer the hone nunber. I have been an AT&T customer since 2003. I think it was Cingular back then. In any case I am not happy with the customer service at this store next to Cary Towne Center. PS Also, usually when I go in there, they are more interested in selling me DIRECTV rather than helping me with what I came for. read more

The entire staff at this store, including the store manager, have no idea what they are talking about. The manager was rude and kept interrupting me as I spoke. This store insists that Cricket phone numbers cannot be migrated to AT&T, despite statements to the contrary from ATT Mobility Cares, online chat support and phone support. I went to another corporate store and this was taken care of with minimal fuss. Word of advice - if you want to port over a number from Cricket avoid this store. They will insist that it can NOT be done when in fact it can. read more

So my husband was upgrading my phone for my Christmas present and we had a pretty good experience at this specific location so we decided to go back. What a mistake. So first they send someone over who has no potential to help you other then waste your time. So the guy finally comes to help us and my husbands ID is expired and he tells us that there is nothing that he can do to help us. He proceeds to tell me my only option is to order a phone online and that he could help me after that but nothing could be done... FALSE we went to another AT&T store and I got my upgrade within 30 minutes. They don't want to help you unless they are making money off you!!! You better keep your receipt, hire a lawyer and deactivate your credit card. Let me preface this review with the fact that I wrote another review on 4/18. This would include part 2 of the ongoing saga of the 2 bills. For several months, the bill was appropriately 1 merged bill...including Uverse and the phone. Thus I paid one bill and things were good. SIGH. In rolls June's bill and, sure enough, they divided my bills enough. The only reason I found out was because I sent in 200$ toward my ONE bill and my phone was subsequently shut off. SIGH. So I called up, was transferred around....you know. The whole AT&T round about..... And they decided to keep my money and NOT turn my phone back on. So I went BACK to the AT&T store and spoke with the guy who fixed everything initially. Only "my guy" was a little less energetic and happy to help. It ended up that both bills were going to remain separate AND AT&T wanted 300$ because they had been applying my payments willie nillie as they chose to apply them. 300$!!!!! Well my friends....THAT was just NOT going to happen. So I shut down my phone and bought a 100$ one from Target which is wonderful, no contract and costs 1.50 per month!!!!!! I have texting, music, phone, apps. It's all good. No. It's not as fancy as an iPhone....but I do not have to 1) deal with AT&T any longer and 2)fund the ridiculously HORRIBLE customer service that is associated with AT&T. As far as television and internet is concerned, I am paying 30$ a month with a firestick. Perfectly suits my television watching habits. Aside from the atrocious customer service on the phone, the customer service in the Walnut Street store is equally as horrible. The manager of this store truly represents accurately the AT&T philosophy of screw the customer just take their money and good bye. As soon as I knew there was a problem with my billing again, I called and asked the manager if I could speak with Molo (the guy that initially helped me). I was first told Molo was with a customer, then I was told Molo was at lunch. I asked if he could tell Molo to call me....and I could tell, the way he answered, that Molo was certainly not getting a message. Sure enough...Molo never called back. The manager of this store is shady as hell. He's ok if you're buying something but if you need customer service, not so excited about that. I would use some other choice words for him but not appropriate. Anyway..... I am no longer a customer of AT&T. My internet, tv and phone cost WAY less then what I was paying with no customer service problems. I'm done. Upgraded my iPhone 5 to a 7 with no issues in store, am told to go home and plug into iTunes to restore from my last backup. Perfect. Go home, plug into iTunes and get an error message: corrupt, cannot restore from last back up. I call the store, explain my issue, am put on hold for 10ish minutes to be told nobody knows what my problem is and to call apple. I end up being on the phone with apple for about 2 hours, we figure out the issue is simply that the 7 had not been updated to the latest IOS update. Since my iPhone 5 was updated at the time of backing up, it was incompatible to my 7. The fix was easy; I updated my iPhone 7 to the latest IOS update, restored it to my last backup from iTunes, and went about my day. My first grip with this store is how the heck do you not understand that issue as a cell phone salesmen?!? That's literally your job, to understand your product! My second grip was that a day later I got an email congratulating me on signing up for a $12 monthly insurance plan. Which I obviously did not do. When I moved to Raleigh, I took the suggestion to sign up with ATT. I signed a two year contract for the advertised rate of $89.99. Every bill I have gotten had to be disputed because of overcharge. I finally talked to someone at the store and thought that it was finally solved. Well, I just got my bill and it's wrong again. They are doing nothing to keep customers happy. I went to this store in Nov 2019 to port in 1 line and added 2 new lines to the service and trade i my 3 Iphone XR. That time at&t has a promo of $500 for trade in with a new line. The phones were received mid Nov. Credit started to show on the next bill cycle. But the third line on my account did not receive a bill credit. I went to the store in January to inform the store manager about the error, spoke with different people and I was promised that it will be taken care of. Its already March and I haven't gotten an answer if credit will be given or not. Manager promised to call me back yesterday but that did not happen. I called more than 20 times today but my call is being routed to customer service to make an appointment. Im tired of this. They discriminate the poor! I had a Monday off, I didn't take a shower and just did yard work. Then later I decided to go to the AT&T store. Needless to say I didn't look my best but the employees here were RUDE and unhelpful and although I was told by the Corporate AT&T office to speak to the manager about my account and the problems I was having the employees wouldn't get the manager even though he was right there. They just brushed me off to get me out of the store as fast as possible. They are only nice to you if you are going to be spending money at their location by getting stuck on a contract, upgrading your phone or buying stuff.
