So it's been quite a while since I've needed to pay a visit to the Smart Addiction shop and now…read morethey are in a different location than those first times that I needed their help. Recently I miscalculated my stride on some steps and came crashing down with my mobile in my hand and while I wasn't injured, my phones corner glass was smashed. I was mad for the most part since the phone is only five months old and didn't have insurance on it. Before you chide me about that, I should mention that I've never so much as scratched a phone screen in the 25 or so years of using these devices. End of streak. So anyway after being scolded by Verizon, I headed to the Smart Addiction store which is also known as "iFixit New York, Bay Ridge" location to assess the damage and the cost to repair. Sadly, the screen for this particular model was not in stock and would need to be ordered. I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL since I rather like a large phone based on all the web and social media stuff I do. The other downside would be the cost of $300 to replace and repair this broken screen. They said the Google phones are costly repairs so the part was ordered and I waited a few days. Once it was in the shop they took my device for a few hours and all was good as new. The staff is friendly but as technicians they are more interested in getting the job done efficiently for the customer. I told them the exact happening that got the breakage for them to be aware in case such actions lead to other issues. It's always best to be honest with the technicians. If you spill something on a laptop, let them know, if you drop your phone out a window, let them know etc. All in all I am glad that they are here and I hope that its a while before I have to come in there again since I don't like breaking things. Another good option at this location in Bay Ridge is that they have one of those Go Lockers so you can direct Amazon, FedEx and more to so you don't miss a delivery while you are at work. I made the mistake of walking in to this repair store off the street. We were looking for a simple…read morescreen replacement of an iPhone 6. The price quoted seemed reasonable and they offered to do it while we waited. After 30 minutes the phone was ready and the results seemed good enough for us. The next day we began to notice some serious battery drain issues with the phone, literally going from 100% to empty in a few hours. This was a surprise given there were no battery issues in prior use but my first thought was it just takes some time for the battery to adjust to the new screen. Three days later and the battery has not gotten better so we spoke with the store both in person and over the phone. The response was the battery is past useful life and they could replace it for a discounted price. I'm no electrical engineer but a battery's useful life doesn't just happen to end overnight - conveniently when someone opens it up and pokes around. This store is definitely some kind of sketchy telling me it is just an old battery. I reiterate that there were no issues with battery life until literally the day after they did their "quality" repair. Didn't offer a refund or any sort of help so I won't be going back or giving any praise. Maybe I'm wrong but I haven't seen a convincing argument proving their theory and most of what I read online says when a 3rd party does a repair and battery issues are seen the likely cause is a short or faulty wiring. Hopefully our loss can provide some help for others.

The colors were off and looked terrible, and it had a chin at the bottom. I went back and paid $250 for a proper oled iPhone screen. I was happy with it. The screen started to glitch when I set it to full brightness then it started to flash and glitch with any movement. Finally my screen just failed. An ideal place would at least have a 90-day warranty or at least try to fix it, especially for a returning customer. He definitely recognized me because I was there 3 times within the past 3 months. Who would want to come back 3 times anyways? He had no intention whatsoever to help me. I asked if he could just check on the screen but he didn't bother answering any questions or concerns.
