I have had nothing but issues with Astound service. Cost is very high for quality of service. Recently, I've had practically no internet service for weeks. Spotty at best. The actual techs who have come out to try to fix the issue have been very nice and respectful, especially Nicholas. However, I was told that Astound is not maintaining the boxes that service my area which is what was causing my issue. They patched my service while they worked on maintenance. Service went back down. When I called back, the representative I spoke to was so dismissive and rude that I decided I was not going to pay for poor service AND poor customer service. I obtained a new internet provider within 24 hours of that call. They do not make cancelling easy. Unable to do it online. Had to wait over an hour to speak to someone. While she was more pleasant, stop trying to remedy the issue now that I'm leaving. Why offer to refund for time I didn't have service now but not when I've been sitting with no service all these days prior? Absolutely ridiculous. I turned in my equipment in May and was given a receipt. The next month I got a bill for services for June. I called and was told I didn't request and end of services date. I would think that was the day I turned in the equipment. I thought it was resolved, but in July, I got another bill. I called and was told the same song and dance. If I could give 5 stars to just customer service, that's where it goes... When we started service with them we purchased a great package for 1000 Mbps. We were reaching around 190 Mbps. This allowed me to comfortably work online while letting other devices stream, or other electronics in the household access the internet. However often times in the past recent months the hits fell below 10 Mbps, tested on different nearby servers. In our second year with them the cost had increased without notice, but the hits for Mbps had dropped drastically reading on average 9-10 Mbps. That was even with a booster offered through them too. I made several, but enough calls to them. I'd become disappointed with this because I know I could've gone to a stronger ISP paying lesser than the amount they were charging with the uninformed increased costs. Despite the technical aspect, their customer service has always been attentive and willing to work with me. Unfortunately my decision had to be made. Read before using Astound Freddy the sales rep was the only good thing about this company. 4 stars for him. The only thing I would say for him is don't promise things then don't deliver. We were promised an Ethernet port in my office and the tech said they don't do that. That was a big seller for me. The prices seemed really good at first, but what you don't see are the hidden fees they don't tell you about. We ended up paying way more than our last provider. The equipment they gave us was used and beat up. Installation took 2.5hrs because the device was registered to a previous customer that they hadn't cancelled with yet. We called about the fees and they said we have to pay for the company to maintenance our equipment. That's not our job to pay for your bills and upkeep. We pay for online services. Their internet sucked I work from home it crashed every 30min and they said we can come out for a service charge for our stuff not working. Needless to say we cancelled our service after 1 month. After cancellation they said we would be charged for the full month of March since we cancelled in the beginning that was fine. However they tried to charge us for the full month of April too. We called and the lady tried to explain to us there was another cancellation fee that would charge us for April even though we didn't have their services. After telling the lady no we are not paying for a service we already canceled on she back tracked and said oh nevermind I see when yall cancelled. Be careful with this fees scam! Horrible reliability. We had internet service from Grande Communications for years with no issues and were happy with it. In the past year, we began having more and more outages and now it's almost daily. Sometimes it's for 5-10 minutes, sometimes for hours. I did some research and it seems Grande's parent company was acquired by some investment firm that closed the deal in mid 2021. I guess it took about a year before there was noticeable reduction in quality and reliability of service. Now it's a complete nosedive straight to the ground. I'm writing this to save any potential customers frustration and hassle in Central TX. I'm canceling my Astound service and just using 5G if I have to. Choices in my area are limited to all the mega company providers who deliver the same abysmal quality. RIP to the Grande Communications that existed before the buyout. read more

Good luck getting any service! I pay $60/month for up to 300mbps and the modem/router I have should be sufficient to support those speeds. Yet this is what I'm getting (2mbps). What a rip off. How am I supposed to get anything done?? My Astound Broadcast account billed on the 23 of each month. On January 20th I called & cancelled my account. I was told I had until February 1st to return the modem & as long as I returned the modem by that time I would not owe any additional money. I returned the modem at 12:25 on January 30th. The clerk, Vicki that took my modem & checked it in informed me that I owed $3.58 on my bill. I told her that the customer service person told me I wouldn't owe any additional money but Vicki wouldn't credit it. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she said there wasn't a supervisor at their location & she gave me an 800 number to call. I was left on hold for over 15 minutes. The supervisor I spoke to said that all of their sites had a person in charge. I hate being lied to. read more

Had Grande for about a year. Never got the internet speed I was paying for. Then after the power blackout when power was restored it was impossible to get on the web. I returned Grande's rent modem and Installed my modem and still could not ton line. Grande claimed it was an area wide outage. Then I find a neighbor has service. Finally got a technician to come and he decides my brand router is defective and plugged the computer into the modem and internet was working. The day before I had done that and had nothing. Grande Communication is absolutely a terrible experience. The cable service that they offer is nothing but streaming from a provider such as Roku. They boast a 30 day satisfaction or money back guarantee. We returned our equipment within the period and this horrible company posted a collection in the credit reporting agency. I have since paid their collection amount and they want to keep it going. The bad report was removed through my demands in 2 agencies but remains on one. The service is terrible and would caution all to be aware that Grande does false advertisement. We have gone back to Spectrum and expect Grande to move their junction box for the block off our property since they do not actually have an easement to be present. read more

Satisfied with their Internet; cable side total rip off. Signed up for Internet/Cable November 2018 but cancelled cable after receiving bills with the total for service charges/fees equaling the price of the cable package. September 15, 2019 decided to see what bundles they offered so called up and was provided a quote of a little over $135 total for 600 Mbps Internet, 220 cable channels, the movie premier package plus service charges/fees/taxes. Picked up the cable cards on September 16th and installed them in my TiVos. Called to get them activated and was finally almost successful but no movie channels. After 45 minutes on hold without anyone picking up I called back and found that I was lied to about the movie channels and to add them would raise the price to $158 plus service charges and taxes. Ending up cancelling cable for the second and final time with Grande and will go with online options to keep the wife happy. read more

Signed up for the 300 mbps package for $35 upon referral from one of our sons. Even from the start, the closest we ever got to 300 mbps was high 40s. Contacted customer service to inquire why our download was so slow while upload was right on what we were told it would be. Get the picture? If the modem/router and the line into our home can upload at the 20 mbps we bought, then our download should be up around the 200 - 250 mbps (depending on volume of traffic). We would have been pleased with a download of 100 - 150 mbps. Their response to our first contact about the slow download was that our modem/router was the problem (their usual response is to blame the customer) and they would come out to check it for a service fee of $56 to which we responded that nothing was wrong with either our modem/router or wiring in the house. Our modem/router is the top of the line Arris brand with many more channels than Grande's minimum requirements! And, the line in our house is able to handle an upload speed of 20 mbps which is what is advertised in 300 mbps package so why can't we get a download speed that is reasonable for the price we pay! This week Grande increased our monthly rate to over $50 for just internet and download speeds are worse than ever with sometimes below 6 mbps (yes we sometimes get less than 6 mbps) for $50 a month! It is strange that they still blame our top of the line modem/router when we complain about slow download speeds. They just don't care....customer support is the worst we have ever experienced! We were promised that our son would get a credit on his account for referring us......he never got it even after the sales person took all the information down and promised to get the credit to our son. They just don't care about their customers after they make the sale! Well, we have had it with Grande and we are moving to AT&T for fiber optics service (fiber is in our backyard) to get at least closer to 100 mbps for the same price as Grande! We had really high hopes that Grande would be great but just the opposite has happened! If we could have given Grande less than one star, we would have!! read more

You negatives can go back to Spectrum (more like rectum). I was paying for 100 mps on internet and never got more than 69 mps. We were always getting phone calls for better packages because we were still Time Warner customers. Every package was twice as high as the package we had. They kept going up on the price every three months as well. I had to fight to keep what was mine. AT&T promised free cell phones for their package, and when we checked them out they didn't offer service in our area. Great advantage there right? I was promise a package for two televisions, with DVR boxes, and 300 mps internet for $20 less than Spectrum. They have kept their word! I love our units, and the internet has averaged 309 mps. I'll never go back! We have had some strange outages once, but I was able to restore the service within an hour. We had to have our cable buried across our property which was a 300 foot run; NO EXTRA CHARGE! We are Mucho Grande thrilled. read more

i pay a lot for the top of the line internet with grande, last time it went down the tech told me they issued the wrong modem for my level of service. that modem finally burnt out and i exchanged it today.. got another one that cant handle my level of internet needs. Trying to get a tech out but message says it could cost up to $79 bucks to fix their mess up. being a network tech i know that if the wrong tech shows up its very likely the problem will be misdiagnosed. during my 1 hour wait to talk to somebody the message is trying to sell me a plan to fix my internet. i think it stinks that we now live in a time where products you purchase don't have to work and your expected to pay extra to be sure it works. read more

Paying for 200mbs internet, averaging 30mbs. I had Grande cable for about a week, but after seeing my bill had over $40 in taxes and fees, I called to cancel. They advertise a cheaper than Spectrum price but hit you with the stupid fees. They told me over the phone that my modem would work, but when the technician came out he told me because it was previously hooked up to Spectrum internet, he won't be able to get it work. But he graciously set me up with a rental modem for an extra $12 a month. So, I went to Best Buy and got another modem, but because I had a TiVo (which was very slow and unresponsive at times), another tech had to come out and hook it up (for the low price of $39 for the service call). This place is a total rip off. I'll keep the internet because it's about the same I was paying with Spectrum, but cancelled cable and going with Sling TV, which so far is much superior to Grande! read more

Only giving 1-star because I have to. We scheduled with Grande to have service connected last Thursday between 5-7, and nobody showed up. I was on hold for over 30 minutes that evening trying to see why, but nobody could see why in the computer system. She created a new ticket to have someone still come by that night, stating they do installs till 9pm. Still nobody showed up. Called the next morning and was on hold for 45 minutes. The gentleman I finally spoke with stated the tech said he went out to our home for install but nobody was home, which was impossible since we took off work all day to make sure we would be here. He created a new "expedited" ticket to have someone come out right away and told me I would receive a call within two hours. Three hours go by, I call again and am again on hold for more than 40 minutes. The woman on the phone states she cannot see any tickets or installs on my account, so I tell her to just close it out. We work from home, so I was a little uneasy about switching internet companies. Our old internet was to be shut off the next day to overlap just in case something like this happened. Since we gave them another day to get it right, we ended up without internet for days till we could get our old provider to turn it back on due to weekend/holiday times. It was a major inconvenience and caused us to lose business/money. Everyone in our area recommends this company, not sure why at this point.
