I avoid the pricier restaurants on the Cape in the Summer because the places are crowded, the attitude of the servers is crappy and the food so-so, so I look forward to Labor Day to try something a little out of the ordinary. Since it was a Sunday night and my partner and I felt like being spoiled, we decided to go to Estia in Mashpee. Big mistake. My partner and I walked in, It was not busy. They immediately wanted to seat us in a strange area, with a bench seat that went the length of the wall and had 7 or 8 mini tables that had the 3 oldest couples in the place seated at them, out of the way, you might say. The tables would have been fine if we were just having a coffee, but too small for a full meal, especially with no elbow room. I asked for one of the other tables. I was told the one I asked for was reserved for a party some 3/4 of an hour later. She would only offer us the bar, again way off to the side, in spite of the many other empty tables. I guess, especially with the hostess's dismissive attitude, that we were too old to be seen. Reluctantly, because we rarely drink, we went to the bar. I'm sorry we didn't just leave. We ordered the appetizer sampler, I had lamb chops, she the spanakopita. She brought our salads (I heard they had homemade bread, but none was offered to us) and before we were halfway through, the appetizer arrived. When we finished our salad and before we got into the appetizer, our main course arrived. The bartender, of course, blamed the kitchen and apologized and offered to take them back to the kitchen (to a warming area? At these prices?) It wouldn't have made a difference anyway because the food was bad, it was as though it was put together in a salt mine! The Great Salt Lake isn't that salty. We ate as much as we could stand, paid for our dinner and left (thinking we could rinse the salt off some way at home). Oh, and the table we asked for and didn't get? Love in the interior in this place. It is super pretty. They also had a band there playing while we ate. The tzatizki sauce was really good. I also really enjoyed the greek salad. One thing I wish was a little different about the salad was the heaviness of the feta and the type of lettuce they used. The lettuce was a little bitter. Other than that though it was really good. Well it finally happened....I'm here on Cape Cod, pick a place to eat and for the first time in years I find a terrible restaurant. ........and I mean 3 times terrible. I'll explain. First I ordered a Martini with a twist of lemon....and I got a Martini with a twist of lemon ....but loaded with olive juice. .....I then ordered the shrimp kabob ....and the shrimp was overdone and completely tasteless. My wife asked me to try her pizza ...and the same .....soggy and tasteless. Finally my daughter asked me to taste her lamb burger and whoa and behold .....lamb flavored chop meat. ....again, completely without taste.....as if everything was frozen for a month....that kind of tastelessness. Cape Cod in the summer. Sometimes it's hit and miss. This was a big time miss. read more

This is a definite must try! This is true authentic Greek food just like my YiaYia and Mom made. Portions are outrageous, but then again with the Greeks it's all about the food! Absolutely terrible. The food was good, the wine was good. The service was atrocious. Waitress forgot to take my boyfriend's entire order. I asked to not have my water refilled, the girl stared at me and refilled it anyway. I cut my burger in half and picked at the other half. I asked to have the intact half boxed, I specifically asked not to have the rest. Waitress gave me the rest anyway. Also, my wine glass had water and soap spots all over it. Didn't look clean at all. Delicious pizza, with prices typical for the commons. We haven't had anything other than the pizza and yummy bread yet, but we are planning a trip back to try some of the other selections. We were sitting by the kitchen, watching them make the pizza, my daughter loved it. We got an everything pizza, and a 1/2 pineapple prosciutto half cheese. Excellent food! We started off with grilled octopus, one word" perfect". All 6 of us had the Gyros, perfect amount of tsaziki, and the caramelized onions, though not typical of a gyro, it was a nice alternative to sliced onions. The side Greek Salad was ample and the dressing very tasty . We finished of the meal with baklava, it was delicious, served warm with just the right amount of syrup. We have eaten here several times. My issue is on a night way before the rush several tables open not in the busy season...we left because we had 2 options...sharing a table with another couple we don't know, or sit in a very tiny table smooshed between other tables. When asked if we could take a 4 top, and we would be gone before the rush we were told they had to save all the tables...I want a nice night out, and if I'm paying a good chunk of money, I don't want to sit with strangers. We just left. The food is good in the past...but if you want any privacy and are a couple, be aware before you go that you will be right on top of others. If you're into a bar scene and there to chat with strangers , you might like that. read more

The Greek salad is as good as I would expect in the Dodecanese and to be able to order and drink a good Retsina (if that is not a Contradiction) with the delicious lamb shavings was an unexpected treat. read more

Decent very salty, everything on the menu seems to come out with feta and I love feta but I'm leaving thirsty , good pizza large are personal size couldn't imagine what the small is . Lamb burger was good, salads good , shrimp dish good, gyros good but I found it to be a little to strong with cinnamon. Wait staff great, ambiance great . One of our favorite restaurants on Cape. Excellent wine list and a decent beer selection with a good variety on tap.Mixed drinks are spectacular. The Dirty Tino is a must try. Sorry, food is not "There" yet. You need a lot of things to change before I go again. Five times....still can't get the lamb right. The texture is strange. Feels as though it has been treated with meat tenderizer. Rice overcooked and mushy. Now for the Bartenders!!! Too busy chatting between themselves, texting, complaining, etc. Too young and immature. I was never even asked how my meal was, she was too busy texting! I feel that management has got to get more on the ball. I really would hate to see this place fail. Two for two. We have been there twice and both times everything was perfect. Today our server, Ali, was pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive without hovering. It is definitely on the short list of restaurants in Mashpee Commons that we will go to whenever our chef aka hubby needs a night off. Visited on Sunday 12/27/15. We went for early dinner. Smaller place with a Rustic ambiance with a large coal fired pizza oven to the side of dinning area. When we were there place not to full as we went around 5 pm. Place is a little on the loud side. Service was ok, but slow. We had a few apps. The wings were good, and the saganaki dish wish was so so. Had chicken kabob which was tender but kind of pricey for what you got. My father had the estia seafood special which was a few different fish over rice and tomato sauce. he said said it was good but little bland. Overall impression is food was just ok, but on the expensive side. read more

This is an update - I just found out that one of our party received her pizza BARELY WARM - because we were celebrating she didn't want to send it back - this is very disappointing!! I am changing the rating to 3 stars from 4 - there's NO REASON AT ALL for a pizza to arrive BARELY WARM. PERIOD. We had a party of six; the high-top seats were uncomfortable for us - they were able to accommodate our request to relocate as it was early and other tables were available. The service was leisurely which was fine for us, our server Molly (hopefully her name!) was very nice and accommodating. The wings were awesome, the pizzas were awesome, and the sampler plate was awesome. I was very impressed with the quality of the portions, the taste, and the ambiance. This was my first visit and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I'm actually surprised how much I enjoyed it, and it's nice to be surprised again. read more

Had dinner on our anniversary 6-10-2018, expecting a good Greek food experience in an attractive restaurant. Good bartender, generous drinks. VG so far. Order combo appetizer with dolmades (stuffed grape leaves). Have been eating these since I was a kid from the Greek lady down the street who used to pick the young leaves from our grape barber. Not good at all - rating 2 of 10. Low flavor, cheesy, greasy - plate overloaded with feta cheese hunks. My wife ordered a gyro. Last time we had this was on the Greek Island of Santorini, wonderful. This was terrible not as good at the ones at the Barnstable County Fair in July. Not thinly sliced spice meat from a big wrapped skewer but rather chunks of fatty pork sauteed in a sauce. Huge disappointment, rating 1 of 10. I has a combo chicken and steak kabob platter. Both meats were underspiced and tough. I make better kabobs at home. Veggies and rice OK - rating 3 of 10. So we were extremely disappointed in the whole meal. Not going back unless reviews are less mixed and become much better. read more
