Went for lunch for the first time. It was easy to order if you know what you are doing. We saw 2 families got frustrated and left without ordering. We order an Italian beef sandwich and the fried chicken bucket. Both were excellent and worth the money. read more

Aster Hall is not just your average food hall. It is nestled on the top floor of 900 North Michigan, which offers an array of designer, high-end fashion shops. You can get some shopping done and grab a bite to eat afterward. The food hall is beyond beautiful with their white marble and gold accents. To add to this, they offer convenient, technologically-advanced ordering at your fingertips in the form of touch screen menus; simply select the restaurant you want to order from, browse their menu, select the items you are craving, and then checkout, pay and grab your number/receipt. It is a bit difficult to track down your restaurant (since they have 16 of them I believe), but each are logically numbered and there are people readily available to help out. A few examples of restaurants at Aster Hall are: Small Cheval, 3 Greens Market, Doughnut Vault, Green Street Smoked Meats, and Al Pasto Tacos. Did I mention that they also have beautiful sinks spaced out throughout the food hall to wash your hands? Talk about convenient! Plenty of seating throughout the food hall, but I expect foot traffic to pick up as more people learn about this gem. read more

Is there really anything better than a one-stop shop for Brendan Sodikoff goodness? We went with our 3 yo on a Saturday at 5 and it wasn't too busy. )Nice to be able to get good food even with a toddler in tow.) One nice thing about this food hall in comparison to others is the ability to order all food from a single kiosk as opposed to having to go to each individual place. We're able to get pizza, Green Street Smoked Meats, and Small Cheval all at once. Presentation could be a little better as a lot of the food was in plastic deli-style containers even for dine in. This is specifically for Lil Boots. I've been twice now, the first time I got the vodka pasta and I was underwhelmed. I gave it another try and got the Bolognese. It was fantastic. I have wanted to go back just about every day and will be back soon. The only reason it didnt get 5 stars was because it was slow even though the hall was almost empty. read more

Interesting concept. Order at kiosks, wait for food at appropriate "vault", eat in a beautiful space. We ordered cheeseburgers and fries from Small Cheval. These cheeseburgers were delicious. They had two patties and a delicious dijonnaise. The fries were hot and perfectly crispy. It was a very pretty space and clean. There were many other food options that looked delicious. I feel this place is a high price for the lack of table service. I find it super annoying to order off a computer screen. If you want something from multiple vendors you have to wait with separate tickets and retrieve from separate locations. For example, I wanted green tea to drink with my Ramen noodles. By the time I waited for my noodles and carried the bowl on a tray across the hall to the opposite side of the building where the tea vendor was, my soup got cold. Plus it's extremely cumbersome to be walking around with a tray carrying soup! I have eaten here a few times and feel the food is only mediocre- like high-end grocery store or airport fare. Not worth the price or inconvenience. I will say that it is clean and slick looking. The staff are friendly. But, I would rather pay the same or more elsewhere and get full table service and better food! If I want take out, I will opt for a place with a more efficient system. This system of ordering at a screen and picking up in another location is akin to the chaos of eating at the county fair! read more

Some delicious favorites in one place - mine in particular was small cheval (previously a bit further to get to if you're in the loop) but close by on the mile? great. Their chicken was also delicious value - thought it might be a smaller portion, however their hot chicken was delicious and you got a LOT for your money. read more

The Chocolate Bar. I live in Chicago as well have a home in the so. of France, near Bordeaux. I don't order croissants anymore as they just don't do it for me anymore; they're too doughy. As I momentarily looked past the croissants, Todd, at the Chocolate Bar talked me into one. It took some selling. I bought one. Todd was so right! Flakey, not doughy. These, Todd explained, were made by culinary artist's hands and most definitely through a baker's heart. The friend I was with has been off carbo's for the last three months - when he saw it he asked if he could have half. Of course, as I crunchingly tore it apart... . we both said, "This is the best croissant EVER!" So many thin layers likened to Filo dough (maybe it is, I'm not a baker). The ends of the croissants are so crispy, browned, the rest, as well. I made a mess they're that crispy; a little shiny so they must have a slight egg-wash. I'd bring some to a friend's home for a brunch gift or instead of a bottle of wine, I'd give these. These will be far from regifting. I'm an artist. I took a picture of it. read more

This a huge get for the mall! They did an amazing job with the buildout and the vendors they have are amazing. The kiosks are easy to use and the food came quickly. My only slight complaint is that the staff doesn't clean the tables quickly enough. I saw a few dirty tables and people standing around instead of cleaning. I came here a few weeks ago to try the new juice bar and was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic service I received. I am really conscious about the cleanliness of my produce, to the point where I'm a bit extreme about it. The station was clean and organized, but I still brought up my concern to the woman behind the counter. I believe her name was Jewel, but she could not have been more sweet and accommodating. She assured me that all the apples and pears were washed and ready for use, but that she was more than happy to rewash the ones that she was going to juice for me. It set my mind at ease and I really appreciated that she did not show an ounce of annoyance with me (I know I can be a lot sometimes). Thank you for the great service, and the juice was delicious (I believe it was called the Sunshine Boost). Totally worth $10. Can't wait to come back again!!! read more
