VA Home Inspect - Joseph Najm, owner and operator of VA Home Inspect, LLC

VA Home Inspect

In my 7 years experience as a real estate agent, Joseph has been the best home inspector I had ever…read moreworked with. Very easy going and fun. He takes his time to go over the details of the inspection, how serious of an issue each is, and best course of action to take. His inspection makes me and my clients confident in what they are purchasing. Will recommend to all my future clients!

At the outset, the situation was a bit unusual. We are renting this home with an option to…read morepurchase. So we wanted an inspection to know if there was any pressing issues with the home before we made a decision on the option. So we didn't want a typical home sale inspection, nor is this review reflective of that type of service. Let's start with the good. This company is very easy to communicate with. They are responsive and easy to reach out to. Joseph (who conducted the inspection) is also very personable. He did a thorough review of the home and even gave us some thoughts on how we might re-design, paint or structure the rooms in our house. Finally, the price was great, He understood the unique needs of my situation and adjusted it to a reasonable rate. My big issue came after the inspection. I negotiated the receipt of a report prior to the inspection as the landlord would need a copy. I had to continuously follow up on this after the inspection and then ask him to add issues he identified that I had written in my own notes but were not included in the report. Although I finally got a report, it took a lot of effort on my end to receive it (and it was a bit less comprehensive than I hoped for).

Even though am not in the best of moods, one thing is for certain. Marc is the man I'll call for any home inspection. He will be doing these for family and friends. The coworkers I like also. Having fun there, but he didn't just deliver. He performed with a high quality of standards, professionalism, and also helped my realtor and I understand complicated systems in lay person language. This is a talent a lot of bright folks don't have, but Marc is personable, honest, and shares what he finds or doesn't in a transparent manner. His report was well written. Going to take a couple days off on the home hunt, but Marc will be doing as many as I need until a seller agrees to my offer. It takes a lot to impress me. I watch body language, words, and a host of other attributes when making a decision about a person. Marc is incredibly passionate about inspecting homes well. I felt extremely informed, and secure putting down the offer. He also went to extra lengths, to clear up a concern my family thought they saw in a picture. Thank you FSI and Marc. Rarely do I give a five star review, as am not sentimental nor generally in the mood to stake my reputation to someone or a company. Marc is now my home inspector, and if you want an experienced professional gentleman, you'll be well served hiring him. Thank you Marc and FSI, and you've shown a single dad and homebuyer, that it's peace of mind hiring you.

When I asked who would be doing the inspection, Marc became defensive and walked off the job. The assistant slammed my door on the way out. This was unprofessional, disrespectful, and a waste of my time.

I have used "licensed, bonded and insured," contractors for all repairs and services, exclusively. I am preparing to replace my roof which is a very big project, and I wanted my big fortress reviewed for needs first. I am a knowledgeable, careful female home owner, growing up in a "master plumber/builder home." Given all of those efforts and personal pedigree to maintain my home, Mr. Marston identified a list of "issues and "repairs of repairs" to make my home safer and most sound into the future. I love this handsome home and researched best home inspectors very carefully, I was rewarded for that effort. If you want an excellent home inspector, who checks out critical structure, electrical, plumbing, maintenance and code needs and who is not afraid to get into the attic, behind the furnace, inside the electrical panel and wade through insulation, etc., call Mr. Marston at REM, you will be glad you did.

I mean I have no idea what a great inspectors are suppose to do, since its my first home inspection. But I'm sure if they stay in your home for close to 5 hours looking at everything from my garbage disposal to my fire place, they are earning their money. Even though the 5 hour inspection drove my mom-in-law bonkers, because she had to pee; I learned alot from Reggie and I feel more comfortable knowing I purchased a great home.

He walked me through all the things he was finding, and really took his time to inspect and educate me. Because of his thorough inspection, I ultimately decided not to move forward on purchasing the house I had under contract. I was able to make this decision and be okay with it because he provided so much education and context. I am so appreciative. I now have a better idea of what to look for AND I will definitely be following up with Jamie again when I do decide to restart my home-hunt. Thanks, Jamie!

It seems like the inspector is more for the seller rather then the buyer who is hiring them for contingencies. I have done construction management and commissioning before so I dont know how in my case where a window latch on an exterior window thats UPSTAIRS is considered a low priority where there is a fall risk, wind/gust that goes through since it cannot fully latch and would need a potential replacement - which in hand did not help our case with settling on the deal to get this resolved. Literally handed us a paper and not even a follow up call to discuss the contingencies on the home. All I got told was that they only look visually and even when I looked you could see it is a bigger issue than what it was marked as. Waste of $475 that I could've done myself, oh and when I email the owner Hulbert, same half response of excusing the poor inspection that was done. I do not recommend this inspector company whatsoever. I forgot to mention - his wife when I told her the situation told me "This happens when you get a home" like what kind of response is that, don't know but this family business is beyond disappointing and a let down to put it nicely. This establishment lacks the actual foundation of what and who they're doing this for. Also the inspection was 30 minutes for a 3 bedroom and 3 bathroom house.... I've seen people thoroughly inspect homes smaller and take longer.
