My previous deck (there since 1980) was not permitted, so he had to start from scratch. The pictures show the result: doubled in size, permitted deck that looks so much better. I posted the before and after so you can see for yourself. Walking on the deck I am convinced that this well built deck will be here long after the house falls away. Great job, by great people. Very considerate of me and my family. Be advised: he is a straight shooter and doesn't spend his time and energy trying to make the homeowner feel good. He does do great work, at a reasonable price. The job was a challenge because they had to hoist the three-door, assembled frame up to my second-floor deck. They safely prepared all the decking in drop cloths to prevent any damage to the frame or the deck. They expertly removed the old frame and installed the new one with flashing tape and a door pan to avoid any moisture or mold. They filled in the door gaps with insulation foam, trim, and caulking, and painted all the trim nail holes. They are extremely neat, organized, and very efficient. They cleaned up the entire area and vacuumed. They disposed of all the old material, and I couldn't be more satisfied with their expert craftsmanship. I then asked what the difference would be between getting a particular cabinet color (not knowing what my options were or what would be in stock without a company name), and she said custom vs semi custom are just words and that it's all pretty much custom so it wouldn't make a difference. Upon asking a few more questions, she proceeded to tell me "I'm not sure if you saw, but our company has almost a 5-star review and that's almost unheard of". I didn't know what to make of it, but considering what some of their reviews mentioned, I felt as though we were going to get the same treatment. She said she'd get back to me by Friday with a quote and a visual of the kitchen updates-- it was Tuesday that day. We gave her a call that Friday afternoon to follow up and she insisted that the cabinet company was taking a while and that she'd get back to us by Monday the latest if not over the weekend. We waited and got nothing so my husband called her the following Wednesday without ever hearing from her. She continued to reassure us that she hasn't forgotten about us and that she'd get back to us by Monday for sure. It's now been 21 days and we got no updates or any communication from them. It's clear that this is a pattern for them and I'd advise someone looking to get work done by someone reliable and honest to look elsewhere.
