She has also been working with him on his AAC device, she has advocated for him with his school team, and attended school meetings to advocate for his speech services. Helping children with communication is a true act of love for miss rebecca and her team. My son's last 2 speech therapist were discharging him because he wasn't making progress. They didn't believe he could do more, and miss rebecca truly believes in my son. I couldn't ask for more.

first off, if you are reading these, you may be looking for a place for your child to get speech…read moretherapy, maybe have some questions if speech is right, or might just be in the curious stages of speech. id like to tell you you are in the right place! i was referred to speech-n-motion from a friend who also is a speech therapist. i was in search of someone who specialized in apraxia for my then, 20 month son. we had been receiving speech once per week through regional center but after doing intense mama research after learning of his childhood apraxia, i learned and knew he needed more! i cannot say enough great things about all the ladies who practice at this clinic! weekly we see Marissa and Amanda, and we have also seen Rebecca for some make up sessions. All three have made us feel so comfortable and they have always loved on our super active hyper crazy cute son! :) But back to speech, they all have been so crucial in his speech development, including some guidance, homework, and training for us parents. I have loved being included in each of his sessions, its helped me as a parent learn how to prompt or push him. I have laughed, smiled, and cried with them as we have watched special moments occur, like saying his name for the first time recently, finishing a full word rather than a sound, and going from imitation to independent words. When we first learned of Maddy's diagnosis it felt like a punch to the gut! Hearing that he "MIGHT have words" crushed me.... but man I am so thankful that after that, we were connected with this place. They have been a Godsend and I would recommend any of them happily and whole heartedly!!!!

The sessions are advertised as 30 minutes, but in reality they feel much shorter. The therapist usually spends the first 5-10 minutes letting our son play, then about 15 minutes on actual therapy, and the last 10 minutes cleaning up and wrapping up the session. When I called to ask about it, the person I spoke with said it's because insurance only allows them to bill for 15 minutes of therapy. It's frustrating to pay so much when only about 15 minutes of the appointment is actual therapy time. Overall, we were not impressed and ultimately decided to pull our son out.

We have been going to My Kids Place since my son was 3 years old for Speech and OT but more…read moreregularly in 2024. He is now 5 and 1/2 years old. He has high sensory needs and severe speech and language delays. He loves the equipment and toys at this center for OT. Some speech sessions can be challenging because he's not motivated to talk, prefer to be under the table instead, etc. Our main Speech Therapist here is Ms. Vidya, she is fantastic! She has made so much progress with my son's speech. Chris and everyone here are very knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. These sessions not only have helped my son but also helped me with being a better primary caregiver for my son. It's really just from observing what work or doesn't work with my son during sessions and by asking questions to Chris and his team. One of the things that these sessions help me with is having a better understanding of my son's physical needs and being a better problem solver. For example, I was able to practice certain things outside of sessions to help my son with like desensitizing loud sound from hair clipper/hand dryer, putting on his clothes independently, etc. Overall, we are so grateful to have MyKidsPlace in our son's life.

We've been going to Oceanside Therapy Group (OTG) since February 2011(when my son was 6 months old)…read moretill present. We started with just our older daughter receiving speech therapy, then both my oldest daughter and son (we have have a 7 month old too now). My son started speech at exactly a year old due to him not talking. About 6 months after that both children started receiving occupational therapy. Both my kids have seen by Shari, Tony, Meg, Courtney, Mehgan, Mara, Erin, Sara and a few others when were filling in for someone else's cancelled appointment. I did learn (quickly by Shari when we first started) that if you don't keep going consistently its NOT going to help your child. You will also be charged $50 (or at least thats what it was at the time I paid for missing 2 sessions in a row ). If you or your child isn't happy with their current OTG therapist then tell Armida or the front desk and they will try to work your child in with another therapist that may be a better fit. OTG has grown so much in the years we've been going. When we started it was a waiting room with 2 - 2 seater love seats and a 3 seater couch, a receptionist (who wrote everything in pencil in individual scheduling books) and just a few speech therapists. Now they have almost the whole downstairs of the building and moved to electronic scheduling and 4 receptionists. We've had a few scheduling mix ups and problems but thats only been because I didn't pay attention to my calendar or listen to what I was told and when my kids appointments were. We moved in April 2012 down to Rancho Bernardo and made the drive (in morning rush hour traffic) 3 times a week. After 7 months we switched offices to something closer to us in RB (let's call that place # 2) and 3 months after switching to place #2 we switched back to OTG. The staff at place # 2 was not conducive for my kids and after a few therapists it just wasn't working for us. The only downfall was loosing our spots with Shari and Tony (the most sought after therapists) but we wanted them back and were put on a 'wait list' so to speak to be back on their schedules when a spot opened up that worked for both them and us. OTG also has an annual FREE family day with burgers, hot dogs, jump houses, relay games, face paint, balloons and just plain old outdoor fun for kids. They also participate in the ACT! for Military Families Autism 5k/10k every year too - my kids love going to both events :) Josh and Rebekah (the wonders of OTG) really put their hearts and souls into their business to make sure that the families they service get what they need. At times that comes at a sacrifice to their own children and most of the families don't realize what it takes to run a pediatric therapy office of this size. We will continue our services with OTG until the kids "graduate" - when that day comes I may cry just a tad bit!
