We've been going to Oceanside Therapy Group (OTG) since February 2011(when my son was 6 months old) till present. We started with just our older daughter receiving speech therapy, then both my oldest daughter and son (we have have a 7 month old too now). My son started speech at exactly a year old due to him not talking. About 6 months after that both children started receiving occupational therapy. Both my kids have seen by Shari, Tony, Meg, Courtney, Mehgan, Mara, Erin, Sara and a few others when were filling in for someone else's cancelled appointment. I did learn (quickly by Shari when we first started) that if you don't keep going consistently its NOT going to help your child. You will also be charged $50 (or at least thats what it was at the time I paid for missing 2 sessions in a row ). If you or your child isn't happy with their current OTG therapist then tell Armida or the front desk and they will try to work your child in with another therapist that may be a better fit. OTG has grown so much in the years we've been going. When we started it was a waiting room with 2 - 2 seater love seats and a 3 seater couch, a receptionist (who wrote everything in pencil in individual scheduling books) and just a few speech therapists. Now they have almost the whole downstairs of the building and moved to electronic scheduling and 4 receptionists. We've had a few scheduling mix ups and problems but thats only been because I didn't pay attention to my calendar or listen to what I was told and when my kids appointments were. We moved in April 2012 down to Rancho Bernardo and made the drive (in morning rush hour traffic) 3 times a week. After 7 months we switched offices to something closer to us in RB (let's call that place # 2) and 3 months after switching to place #2 we switched back to OTG. The staff at place # 2 was not conducive for my kids and after a few therapists it just wasn't working for us. The only downfall was loosing our spots with Shari and Tony (the most sought after therapists) but we wanted them back and were put on a 'wait list' so to speak to be back on their schedules when a spot opened up that worked for both them and us. OTG also has an annual FREE family day with burgers, hot dogs, jump houses, relay games, face paint, balloons and just plain old outdoor fun for kids. They also participate in the ACT! for Military Families Autism 5k/10k every year too - my kids love going to both events :) Josh and Rebekah (the wonders of OTG) really put their hearts and souls into their business to make sure that the families they service get what they need. At times that comes at a sacrifice to their own children and most of the families don't realize what it takes to run a pediatric therapy office of this size. We will continue our services with OTG until the kids "graduate" - when that day comes I may cry just a tad bit! read more

It's really unfortunate to be leaving a bad review, especially considering my child never even got the opportunity to work with a therapist at this location. This review, however, is specifically regarding the front desk staff and my experiences over the phone. The last three times I have either been contacted by or called the office, the staff have been extremely rude and disrespectful. I scheduled an appointment for a specific time over the phone, but never received a confirmation until the day before the appointment--and when I did, the appointment time was completely different from what I had originally scheduled. I called to address the issue and was met with an extremely rude and unprofessional attitude from the staff member I spoke with. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable bringing my child to this location. If this is how parents are treated before their child even receives care, it unfortunately left me questioning what our experience would be like once we were actually patients there. read more

I am so happy that we finally found not one but two of the best therapists in Oceanside. Both my boys have been going to see different therapists over the years. My sons therapist Tony has done more in the past year then all the years of therapy combined. He's finally trying different foods when we ask him too. My other son is being seen for speech and we are seeing a significant improvements in his annunciation and reading abilities. I have been taking my son here since the beginning of the year and he has made amazing improvement, from basically nonverbal to at least 50 words now that he says independently from his speech therapies. He also started receiving Occupational therapy since August and has made really good progress with his motor skills. Every single person I have met here has been nice to us, from administration to therapists, and my child really loves attending his classes. We love OTG! Both kids have received speech and occupational therapies since 2014 with a variety of therapists. All of the therapists here are so capable and constantly striving to evolve and improve their skills. Our daughter struggles with transitions and the therapists handle it with large amounts of patience and she always comes back at the end of her sessions saying that she had fun. Both kids have made tremendous amounts of progress during their time at OTG. I feel like each discipline (speech, occupational, and physical therapies) are adequately staffed and we are always able to get appointments rescheduled easily. As a parent very concerned with my child's speech, this place was among the many waitlist we were on. When I finally got the call for availability, I was pleased until I was told that due to covid policy I would not be able to go in with my child (who just turned 2). My gut was telling me no because I was not going to wait in a parking lot and have my child picked up by a stranger who I've never met, let alone my child. The whole idea of dropping them off without me, especially for a first session, seemed ridiculous. But everyone from pediatrician to speech therapists always say early intervention is best, and I didn't want to delay the class due to my worries getting the best of me. So I thought I'd give it a try and see how my child felt. First class went great, second class he started crying, third class escalated to even more crying and by fourth class he had a total meltdown and didn't want to go into the room. This was with 3 different therapists. I kept being told that it's good for my child and that they have other children who just cry during the whole session until they get accustomed to the routine. Well, while my son may be nonverbal, I can tell thru his demeanor that he was terrified of being left with them! Even tho I expressed my concerns, I wasn't allowed in due to policy. It made no sense that even tho my child was in distress they would not help accommodate or change up the routine to somehow make it more welcoming for my child. I thought the purpose of these therapies was to help the children and have their best interest as priority to see them thrive in their environment. It only took 4 sessions (~20min each) to literally make my son scared to the point he always hides behind me now when we go somewhere new or meet people (probably from fear of being 'left'). I learned my lesson and would recommend parents to go with their gut feeling and don't go based on availability, find a therapy that allows you to go with your child! Their covid policy makes no sense when their therapists walks out to our cars and speaks with us with no mask and no 6ft distance, yet we're not allowed in the room? There are definitely other places that allow you to accompany your child and would recommend speech therapy elsewhere. read more

We have been taking our son Nikolas to OTG for the past 3+ years and the overall experience has been fantastic. Our son was introduced to many specialist for his OT and ST sessions and he liked all of them. Recently he has been assigned to Ms. VALERIA, Ms. SARINA and Ms. EMILY for his weekly repeating sessions and he loves going to them ALL. He has a big smile going into his weekly sessions and even a bigger one when he comes out. The progress in his development ever since he starting coming here is amazing...we are super happy and appreciate everyone's BIG effort to help our son!!! The staff in the front office is always pleasant to deal with and they always provide fantastic support with new sessions, rescheduling or cancellation. We also appreciate the fact that OTG stayed opened through most of the pandemic. They kept the whole building clean, sanitized and were able to stay opened with the main priority of keeping all students and teachers safe. We highly recommend OTG to all parents and their kids. My son became a patient in 2015 after having surgery to remove a brain tumor and then undergoing radiation & chemo. We are in our third year and the life my son leads now, is in part to the hard work, dedication and attention he has received at OTG. He has been undergoing both physical and occupational therapy and other than the scar that's visible around his head, you would have never known he has gone through all he's endured. We see multiple therapist here at OTG and absolutely love all of them. We see each discipline each week for two kids, so we've seen a lot of the therapists here. Everyone always remembers where my kids are at in their treatment and are beyond willing to accommodate anything I ask or for any extra appointments I feel they may benefit from. They always go the extra mile in explaining what's going on so that as a parent you truly feel involved. read more

OTG is amazing. My daughter has been coming here for over two years now. When we first started there was a high turnover for OT people however once Jessie came along it is been perfect. Before my daughter goes back we are able to touch base on what is going on with my daughter and how Jessie can help her with that day. Once we switched speech up here everyone we see off speech has been amazing and I have seen so much growth in my daughter in the last year for speech. They were able to find two sessions a week that work for us and able to have speech therapy same time. Then just recently my son started with Katie and all I can say is wow. In just the few short months he has been with her there has been a huge success in what we are working with. Again she takes the time to see how things are at home and with his sister and how she can help. Plus one of the sessions overlap with his sister and they can work together on things that need to be done. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. They will call when there is an opening and know my preferences and work with me on everything. All of the speech and OT people are amazing, my kids enjoy working with anyone. We are very happy here and even when we move back to San Diego we have decided this is where our kids will receive services because they truly do care. read more

We love OTG! My son has difficult time with transitions and his therapists just have so much patience and calmness that surrounds him when he is taking him back to therapy. It truly warms my heart to see people that aren't even family, care so much about my son. Every time he comes out of therapy he has so much to tell me about the sensory room, or the gym. I am so thankful they put the sensory room in, because it is something he looks forward to. Thank you for making us feel like we belong and working on such amazing writing skills with him. My son has been going here for OT and ST for several months. I brought him in at 3 years of age because he wasn't talking at all. He was also a VERY picky eater. Trying to get him to eat has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. The therapists are friendly, highly skilled and able to engage my shy, standoffish little guy. Two weeks ago, he suddenly started talking, able to name almost every object or picture that I pointed out. Yesterday he started using 2-3 word phrases. Also, he has started eating better with his feeding therapy in OT. I see him using what they teach him at mealtimes while he is trying new foods...which was unimaginable 3 months ago. It has been a miraculous change for him. I saw a decrease in his frustration very early on as they started teaching him a little sign language. I'm so glad we started taking him here! There is also a gorgeous enclosed courtyard outside the waiting room that I let his little sister run around in during appointments and I don't sweat it as much trying to keep tabs on my baby crew. read more

My children have been coming here since December of 2012. Between my kids and numerous appointments through the years they have worked with every SLP and OT that is employed here. The therapist doesn't always change like that, but I like for my children to get as much therapy time as possible and we are always picking up extra/fill in appointments with whomever is available. All of my children have thrived here. One child went from non-verbal to a chatter box. Another went from 2 years of speech services through various schools and showing no improvement, to catching up and surpassing what is considered age appropriate speech within 15 months. We were at Oceanside Therapy Group for about a year and a half, from Feb 2015 to June 206. My son went to physical therapy with Dr. Chris, occupational therapy with Ms. Sarah, and speech therapy and social speech group with Ms. Vanessa - so most of our week was spent up there. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this amazing place. The staff is so friendly, the waiting rooms are fun and kid-friendly, the therapists are awesome, and the therapy gym...wow. Everyone we encountered, we just loved. Each of my son's therapist has changed our lives for the better. They have given him such self-confidence and the tools that he needs to be successful in his life. Dr. Chris even went to far as to run a 5K with my son, which is one of his favorite memories. I would 100% recommend Oceanside Therapy Group to anyone. If we ever have the chance to move back to Southern California, we will definitely be coming back. read more

This place is a joke. For one, I understand every company has a cancellation policy. HOWEVER most places won't charge a $25 fee if you cancel over the weekends or on a holiday before the next business day via phone voicemail/email. They want you to put a card on file. No. Not going to do that when the ladies up front say they never got voicemails when you cancel, so they can charge you, and call to cancel appointments when therapists can't come in. You don't see them charging their employees $25. This company and one other company next to it does this. Everywhere else I've never had issues. They recommend certain days a week that they can't fulfill because they're under staffed. Another thing, they put up signs saying to keep your children quiet, etc.. mind you, this center targets children, and there are kids with disabilities that don't fully understand. Therefore, they definitely aren't kid friendly. Clearly it's about the money :) was he therapists are nice, but I haven't anything special about them. I know there are people who have had great results with them. But if you're not a stay at home parent, this probably isn't the place for you since they don't really work with you. read more

Let me start off by saying that I love the therapists.. which is why I give it three stars. However, recently the staff has been passing out papers and putting up signs for parents and children to be quiet. Now I get that a quiet environment is necessary for learning... what upsets me is this. They have these rules inside and outside. You are not allowed to leave so many people sit in their car. I have more than one child so when one is in therapy, my others are restless and can not sit on a couch for an hour or so on a couch and not make noise. Being a children's facility, you would think they would be understanding of this or have somewhere for children. I usually play, sing or read with my children while we wait but now there are signs about noise, running, jumping, playing, cell phones, music etc. The kid friendliness just isn't where it should be read more

My son has been receiving OT at our home for two years. I read about this clinic and decided to call and find information about it because they offer feeding therapy and that's been the toughest area for my son. To start the "receptionist" should take a class on customer service. I asked many questions and he always cut me off, answered like it was such a nuisance to provide information about the clinic. He was absolutely rude and didn't seem to care at all to provide good customer service. It was almost like he was doing me a favor answering the phone and could not be bothered with my nonsense. I do not know the therapists but if this is the first contact clients have with this business I feel absolutely repelled by the idea of taking my special needs child there. When you have a special needs child life can be overwhelming for all the family and calling a therapy center and getting this kind of service is disheartening to say the least. Don't know who the owner is or if they even care but please mind your staff's bedside manners, your clients deserve better! Taking my business elsewhere. read more

We've been attending therapy for over a year now, and we have no complaints. The front office staff is always professional and efficient. While all the therapist are warm, and inviting. We see therapist for all areas, OT, PT and Speech and my son adores all of them. He's progressed so well over the months we been going and it will be a sad day when we no longer need to attend Oceanside therapy group. First off, let be clear that my review is the front office staff, not the therapists. Unfortunately, since you have to go through the incompetent, unprofessional office staff (Armida in particular) to get to the wonderful therapists, it's a negative experience more often than not. For some reason scheduling accommodations/ changes are a nightmare for the staff. 90% of the time, they are performed incorrectly in the system (by the staff), yet blame falls to the patients. This is unacceptable. I have two boys that receive OT and ST from OTG. Due to the staff's scheduling errors, OTG has blocked my youngest (non-verbal) son from receiving more than the bare minimum of speech therapy. Just beware if you opt to go with OTG. If Armida would start advocating for the practice's patients rather than her incompetent front office staff, this would be a five star facility. As for now, we're shopping for a pro-patient therapy group. read more

This place is amazing. Everyone here is so nice and great with kids. My little girl has been going here for almost a year and she has made great progress. Her occupational therapist Tony is the best, and her speech therapist Charmaine has helped my daughters speech from no words to signing to now talking. We have been going to oceanside therapy group since 2011 when only speech therapy was available. It was excellent then and it's even better now with the brand new additions that have been made for the kids. This included a swing room with a zip line and ball pit for use in physical and occupational therapy. It's just overall an awesome new gym addition that has so much new and useful equipment to help the kids with motor planning or sensory needs. The bigger waiting area is also great for parents to wait in their child and siblings to as they is always a kid friendly movie on the TV along with books and a play table. Overall this place is awesome and caters to a lot of military families, including ourselves :) you can't go wrong with any of the therapists either as they are all great and you can tell just by the rate at which this place has grown. I know I'll be so sad when we have to pcs and because of OTG I have high expectations for our next therapists! read more

This place is a joke! Don't waste your times or the child's. We fired the a year ago and clients have been leaving by the droves. They stopped caring about the kids along time ago. The owner begged us to stay when I fired them but our minds were made up. The therapists will tell you the same thing every time the session is over. My daughter has been receiving services at Oceanside Therapy Group for about two years now. When we first started using their services, we were thrilled at how compassionate the staff was and would work diligently to meet the needs of the client. However, as time has passed and the company increased their clientele, the quality of work has significantly suffered. The front office staff is constantly changing causing issues in miscommunication. The therapists have permission to call and cancel last minute due to an emergency, but the clients are charged a fee when faced with a similar situation. Scheduling has become a huge issue since one of my daughter's therapists decided she no longer wanted to work in the morning. She has now had her therapy hours cut in half due to this change. This is no longer a company that places the needs of the client first. Instead, the client suffers for the therapist's own personal benefit. We are currently looking into a different location since it is imperative my child receives the correct amounts of therapy a week. It's a shame this company has changed so much since they were once a preferred provider in our area. read more
