After deciding I wanted to get back into hunting after a short 50 year hiatus, I purchased a…read morebeautiful Sako 90 Hunter. During the online purchase process, Sako suggested a few FFL's, and Guns LA was one of them. I said yep, although I had never been here, and away we go. A few weeks later, I received an email notice that the rifle had arrived at Guns LA, and I drove over to go through the transfer drill. They buzzed me right in, I was greeted by a couple of the guys, and they handled everything right away. Typical easy California transfer: pages of paperwork, produce CDL, provide DNA sample, raise your right hand and swear you are not a communist or a Klingon, take a polygraph...the usual drill. Because they have a highly Yelp rated gunsmith, I handed them the Leopold scope and mounting rings I had purchased and asked them to mount it (yeah...as if I could have mounted it). No problemo. Ten long days later, I returned (and yes, the DROS paperwork stamps the exact minute from the ten days you started the process and you are damn RIGHT I was there at the exact minute to accept my rifle). They gave me a break on the price of mounting the scope since I did the transfer paperwork there, which was generous and unexpected. Everything was perfect. Although I live in Pasadena, and there are closer gun shops, I would absolutely go to these guys again. Thumbs up and thank you!

I had an excellent experience at Guns LA in Burbank and can't recommend them enough…read more About a year ago, I purchased a handgun from another dealer that has since permanently closed. Recently, I noticed some parts were coming loose and was concerned about safety. I reached out to a few shops, and while the first place was willing to help, I felt like they were more focused on trying to sell me something rather than genuinely helping with my issue. Thankfully, I found Guns LA right around the corner. After seeing their great reviews on Yelp and Google, I decided to stop by and I'm so glad I did. Deon helped me from the start and was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He never made me feel uncomfortable and took the time to explain everything clearly. Not only did he inspect and fix my firearm, but he also spent time teaching me how to properly use my Holosun sight and gave me helpful tips to improve my shooting. He even shared a flyer for private training lessons, which I really appreciated. Best of all, there was zero pressure to buy anything. He genuinely cared about helping me, not making a sale. When I returned to pick up my handgun, Deon and Mike explained that the previous dealer had actually left out some important parts, something they couldn't believe. Luckily, Guns LA has a certified gunsmith on staff (apparently one of the only ones within a 20-mile radius), and they took great care of everything. I'm extremely grateful to have found this place. They've earned my trust and my business. I'll definitely be coming back for future purchases, and they're now the only shop I'll trust with my handguns and AR-15. Highly recommend Guns LA if you're looking for honest, professional, and knowledgeable service! Big thank you to Deon

I recently completed my 2-day CCW qualification with Arvin Younan at Nationwide CCW, and I cannot…read morerecommend this course enough. What sets Arvin apart is his ability to balance a great vibe and a sharp sense of humor with the extreme seriousness of the subject matter. He doesn't just teach you how to shoot; he spends a significant amount of time focusing on the legal consequences of self-defense shootings in California. This part of the class was eye-opening and essential--he makes sure you understand that the decision to pull the trigger is the absolute last resort and carries life-altering legal weight. The classroom portion was never dry because Arvin keeps everyone engaged, but he also has zero tolerance for ego or unsafe behavior, which I really appreciated as a student. The Range Experience: The qualification at the range was exceptionally well-managed. Arvin brought along three additional instructors, ensuring a very high instructor-to-student ratio. Having four professionals watching the line made the entire process feel incredibly safe and organized. They were helpful, calm, and focused on ensuring everyone followed protocol to the letter. If you are looking for an instructor who is professional, legally knowledgeable, and runs a tight ship while keeping the atmosphere welcoming, Arvin is your guy. Bottom line: If you want to be a responsible CCW holder in CA, train with Nationwide CCW. UPDATE: Regarding 1-star review from Gabe Ruediger. He wasn't expelled from the class because he asked instructor a question about "lethal weapon" registration. He was expelled (twice) due to a persistent pattern of aggressive behavior, verbal harassment of instructors and students, and a total lack of the emotional self-control required for safe firearm certification. I was in the same class with him and witnessed it all. The instructor handled the situation very professionally and gave him multiple opportunities to correct his behavior before finally asking him to leave for the safety of the class.

I honestly am at a loss how Nationwide CCW has so many 5 star reviews. Not even any 4s, 3s or 2s…read more The place is a dump and they pack you in like sardines. Not someplace you want to sit all day. The instructor is bellicose and rude. They even had attitude answering initial questions over the phone - which should have been my first clue. Just a nasty experience - start to finish - that has stayed with me. There are better options. EDIT: They reached out confrontationally trying to verify my identity. No thanks LOL To my fellow Yelpers - feel free to do your own research. Check my profile and see my reviews. I can tell you my experience with them was terrible and my review accurate.

Daniel was a great instructor who made the class interesting and easy to follow. He gave excellent instruction and we felt safe when we went to the live shooting portion. He gave me a few tips and techniques that definitely helped as I continued to familiarize myself with my new pistols. When it was time to take my CCW course, I returned to Daniel and things went great as well. The class is twice the length, but he was still able to keep it entertaining and engaging. The only thing I'd change is when it comes to the mental health portion. He makes it known that he doesn't like the fact that he has to teach that portion because he's not a mental health expert. He's not a lawyer, but has no issue teaching the legal portions. He's not a health expert but brings someone in to discuss dressing wounds, tourniquets, etc. So it would be nice to have him embrace the importance of the mental health portion of the class. Outside of that, the class is great! If you're looking for a basic pistol course or getting your CCW, I highly recommend Daniel and First Step Shooting.
